Went here with the kids and a friend with his kid. We had the AYCE lunch. The sushi was satisfactory. The freshness was ok. I was expecting more. The spicy scallop roll, california and dynamite rolls was nothing outstanding. The tempura was hot and tasty. The children had the terayaki chicken on rice and they barely ate that. We were told that kids 4 and under were free thus we had 3 of them. When the bill came, they charged the 4yr old after all. Instead of arguing, we just paid. The dining experience was just ok, I would not go out of my way to venture to eat here again, if ever.
Watch out Damiko, Mori sushi might move into number one. The food was a small touch pricier than I would like to see but on par with damiko. The ambiance is excellent . Innovative blossoming trees and traditional style seating. The food tasted very good. I would like to see bento boxes on the dinner menu at around 14$ chirashi would also be better at 13.95 I would order it at that price but not at 17$ however, the ambiance is very nice. I very rarely eve say that about any restaurant. I would say its equivalent to Japanese food as Olive Garden is to Italian in terms of Decore.
I've got my eye on this restaurant as its a hidden gem which I'm sure will soon have a line up out the door.
This is a best Indian restaurant! The food was fresh and tasty and their service was friendly and staff was very helpful!
We will definitely come back again in the future as we were very satisfied with food.
Ps. Butter Chicken used to be my favourite but after trying their Mango Chicken I’m loving it
This is probably the best flame grilled chicken that I've ever been to in the lower mainland. everything was outstanding and I got my food within
5 mins of arriving. the staff who work there are very nice and outgoing. the peri peri chicken is the best and make sure you try the peri dip for the fires. You can sauce up your chicken with any flavours and everything is just perfect with that. The location is good and awesome for patio sitting and very clean.
First of all, Dragon Palace has been our favourite Chinese Food restaurants in the Walnut Grove area. Their food is always good.
That said, in our experience, their delivery times are usually more than an hour (even when they say 40 minutes). Last night was the final straw. I purposely asked them for an approximate delivery time. I was told about 40 minutes. I decided to call when I realized that it had now been more than an hour. When they answered the phone, they made up a story about how the computer crashed and they lost my order. Then they said it was be done right now and delivered right after. I asked them, "how can you remake my order if it was lost?" They didn't have answer. I then asked them why they didn't call me, and they said they didn't have my phone number. Also a lie!
I cancelled the order, and re-ordered from somewhere else, which delivered quicker than they quoted. Even though their food is good, their delivery service is always poor, they dropped the ball last night, and they lied to me. Dragon Palace lost a loyal customer, and their competition gained a new one!
If all you want is soup and salad for $9.99 then this is the place. However I wanted pasta and my spouce wanted lasagne. We waited a really long time for our entrees. And when they came they were dried out from sitting under the heat lamp. It was obvious! I complained and when the manager came he told me I was wrong. When I pointed out the dried out top of the lasagne, he gave me some bs and told me I was wrong! He never even apologized! So basically, they slapped a chunk of lasagne on a plate stuck it under the heat lamp and because of the shift change forgot about us. We paid $70 for lunch and it was not worth it.
This place has carpet on the floor with ground in food, noisy bus boys clanging dishes and silverware, staff pushing chairs past our table, and gathering in groups to discuss seating assignments. It's very noisy and busy and when I eat I like a little peace. You won't get it here.
I ordered pacific rim bowl, it was cold, and the prawns were raw, after I tried to eat a prawn it was so mushy and slimy raw that I almost through up, but I casually put it in a napkin, and I told the waitress. She asked if I wanted a new one, or something else, so I ordered a specific burger, and received something other burger.
Later she said they wont charge me for the bowl, I was a bit shocked, but just eat some of the burger and paid and left. I will never go back there again.
We ate here recently and will likely return again. The Roasted Pear Salad was amazing. A nice combination of flavours in every bite. The French Onion Soup was also quite good. The Beef Carpaccio was lacking, however. It was was too bland. It needs some livening up with either a balsamic reduction or a mustard of some kind or even capers. Just didn't do it for me. My partner ordered the Beatniks Breakfast and was quite content with everything. He thought the eggs were nicely done and the bacon was perfect...not burnt and just the right crispiness. All in all, this is a great place. The service was outstanding. The patio is fantastic for people watching. The only negative to sitting outside is that people smoke on the sidewalk in front of the patio and there's no escaping the second-hand smoke under their tent. One customer even lit up right on the patio in the grassy area adjacent to it which was right beside where we were seated and nothing was done about it. My assumption is that they don't have the same rules as in the City with regard to smoking?? Not sure but if you're sensitive to second hand smoke, you may want to consider sitting inside...which is very nice as well. If you're in Fort Langley puttering around, it's a nice place to have a rest and a tasty bite to re-charge your batteries.
We decided to try Choo Choos based on recommendations from other parents, we were not disappointed. Yes the prices are a bit much, we thought so checking the menu online and were surprised everything was a dollar more when we went in. We had a coupon that gave us 11$ off and it was still over $50. But everything was made fresh in the restaurant the patties, buns, fries, mothing was frozen like many family restaurants. The fried pickles were tasty and the macaroni sticks were amazing, but the burgers were definitely the star. I got the Choo Choo burger, which was a double bacon mushroom cheeseburger with 2 kinds of cheese and BBQ sauce. It filled half the plate and I needed to cut it in half because I couldn't get a proper handle on it.It was served with a mountain of fries all for around $16-$17.
Beyond the food was the atmosphere. We sat in the train room, which has two train tables and bins full of toys for the kids, along with a train running around the ceiling and a full train diarama. The kids had a blast and talking with other parents in the room they said ita the only place they bring their kids.
So to sum it up, great food, good service, fantastic atmosphere, but its up to you if you think the price is worth it. For us it was.
Last night I had a hankering for Thai and we decided to take a chance and do takeout from Bangkok Kitchen. We are so glad we did! My husband lived in Bangkok for several years and he thought the food was excellent. we especially loved the Green Papaya salad but also enjoyed the red curry and cashew chicken. Spring rolls were good but would be even better hot and crispy as it would have been had we been dining. One note: We ordered everything "really spicy" and yet the food only had a low heat so if you like your Thai food REALLY spicy be sure to tell the owner "not Canadian spicy, THAI spicy" or you'll be disappointed.
We'll definitely be back to try dining in, my husband said it looks really nice in there. Now if only they would deliver....
Definitely recommend this place!
My hubby ( whom I recently recommended to try sushi )
I highly recommend the favourite combo or the dyna-cali combo. and the volcano roll
they are so amazing!!!
tasty and reasonable pricing. lots of parking space.
never knew this place existed in Langley !!!
only thing is if you get your rolls fried, there's a 2$ charge. I wasn't informed of the charge
other than that, everything was great!
nice decor, very classy cherry blossom, private rooms and cute lantern/ figurines. I really like going here.
I am so glad we found this place. My husband and I were thinking where to eat after a good walk in the zoo, and since we opted out of the fast food at the zoo, and seeing the sign across, we decided to give this place a try, and had no regrets about it. Food was fantastic, service as well, and the atmosphere was outstanding for a fast food restaurant. My kids are picky eaters, but they ate the whole hummus bawl and their soups with no fuss. For that, we had to try their deserts, and they too were very delicious,... and everything was risibly priced.
I don't know what happened to the last few reviewers, but you don't get a line up for bad food etc. took a friend there for dim sum lunch and we could only pack away 4 dishes before giving in. Solid dim sum in large portions no complaints from both of us. The price was what you expect and it came out to just over $20. For Langley that's not bad. I have had dim sum at another place on Fraser hiway in langley I won't mention that paled in comparison. I'd go back for sure. Seems like juding by the line up on a Thursday afternoon other people do to.
This is the best Chinese food I've ever had. Veggies are always tasty and fresh. The almond chicken is worth driving from Abbotsford for. I've been to this place a few times on slow days. And anything that they didn't have in there warmer they offered to make fresh. So yes I rated it as outstanding service because of that alone. My only complaint is I wish they had longer hours. I would eat here 3x more if I could swing in for lunch.
Three independent people recommended this place and I took their advice and tried/went to the Flame during June 2013.
There was some lag time between starters and main meal but we were given a few 'nibblies' free to tide us over during our short wait. We all (5) were pleased with everything and I now feel that I won't have to drive from Langley all the way to Surrey to find a good Indian restaurant. We were there on a Sunday and there were approximately 15 patrons dining between 5 and 6 PM with about 3 different take out parties entering to pick up their orders.
This Langley Indian restaurant is worth a try!!
P.S. Apparently they no longer deliver.
Have been to the Dodger quite a few times as we live in the vicinity. The service is great - prompt and friendly. The servings are huge and the food is good - pretty standard pub fare. The only complaint I have is that the décor is pretty sad. Although I am aware they are trying to create a warm and homey atmosphere, that does not need to include filthy carpets with the pile worn off and dirty upholstery with holes. I really think the owners need to do a bit of a makeover in order to ensure patrons keep returning.
Recommended by friends, I've since taken them to a restaurant offering a much better grade of Chinese food than Wong's. They've switched.
First, I hope not to encounter a snarky order-taker when patronising a restaurant. True, this happened only once out of three experiences, but sometimes, once is enough. This last experience left me also with pork that, though chewed for flavour, could not be easily swallowed. At least half the dish went to the garbage. One dish on my second try was only half full. There's no value for the customer in these examples.
In general, the food relies on fat, sugar, and salt for flavour. As a chef myself, I rely on good ingredients for flavour. Their fried rice--a personal favourite in general-- is a good example of this "easy-way-out" approach to cooking that seems to be the Wong's way for the most part.
On the bright side, their delivery service has been prompt and courteous over three tries, but that's a given I take for granted. I enjoy passing on a compliment on a restaurant, but Wong's Chinese Food in Langley has made this difficult. Wong's would be wise to improve both food and service quality. This would show the respect to their clientele customers appreciate.
Went on a sunny weekend morning. It was a little later so we had to hover around for a while to wait for a table outside. There were tables inside though. Had to wait in line about 15 minutes just to order and another 15 to get it. But, it was ok as the weather was nice.
Food was good - breakfast omelette nice but alittle bland. Could have used some avocado though. The blueberry pancakes were outstanding and the potatoes good but not too abundant. You won't be stuffed but you'll be good.
The only down side when it's busy is the people asking you repeatedly if you are done or need that chair. And the bus girl was SO beyond rude rolling her eyes and sighing when I asked for salt and pepper. Some people should not work in the service industy.
Clean food, not too saucy which is what I like. Usually, I don't feel the best after Chinese food but this is one place I recommend for sure. Not oily either. Less variety than other typical Chinese restaurants but definitely enough. Cool takeout boxes too that you see on TV only.
My fiancee and I have visited this restaurant on numerous occasions. They offer a very good deal (1/2 off second meal when you stay at one of the neighboring hotels) and the food is decent.
In the past, I have simply mentioned that I am staying at the hotel and they have no issue offering the discount. However this past weekend, we visited the restaurant and mentioned we were staying at Canada's Best Value Inn but had not checked into the hotel yet. The server said she would need to see our room key to allow the discount on the second meal. I mentioned we were about to check into the hotel after eating and showed her our confirmed reservation on my iPhone. She said she would have to check with her manager and proceeded to take our order.
A few minutes later, the owner of the restaurant came by our table and very rudely told us that they could not honor the discount without a room key. The confirmed reservation was not enough -- which is ludicrous because anyone can walk away from the hotel without returning a room key. I offered to show the owner the confirmed reservation and he said that was not good enough.
At that point, we were so shocked and disillusioned with the poor customer service we picked up our coats and left. It was very obvious we would never return to this establishment.
Well, the story does not end there. As we are walking out, the owner literally comes chasing after us. I turn expecting an apology and an offer to honor the discount. However, instead, the owner, again very rudely and angrily, asks us to pay for our drinks (we had two waters and a cup of coffee which we never tasted). I turned and told the owner that we had visited his establishment on numerous occasions and how disappointed I was with the attitude and courtesy he was offering us. Yes, I paid the $2.35 for a coffee I never drank and the incredibly poor service and attitude. Yes, I could have returned 10 minutes later with a room key and caused a fuss... but what was the point?!
I will never return to this restaurant and I fully explained the situation to the hotel where they informed us of this offer. I am taking the time to add this review to let others visiting this restaurant know how they will be viewed by the very ignorant and angry owner if they ever visit.
