The donimos pizza at brookwood are outstanding. They always put more than enough topping for you. They got the best deal in town, and people are friendly at the store. Not like other pizza store because they still willing to make your pizza at the last min before close. The delivery is fast, estimated 20-35 mins. I have been with them for half year already, and I'm very satisfied with the service here. They screw up my pizza once, but i'm telling you these guys really can find a way to make you happy. All my friends order from them as well, and we all like it.
I've eaten here twice now and I'll definitely be going back! Lunch specials are great value, you get plenty of food nice huge servings, and the quality of the food is very good. The staff are fast and efficient, my pick-up order is ready within 10-15 minutes. Haven't tried eat-in yet but would like to, during lunch hour it's always busy.
I'm a regular at Akane sushi and I absolutely love going there. They are the sweetest and friendliest owners. I call the head chef sushi master. He wears the big hat and he has such a great sense of humor. They always recognize my boyfriend and I when we go in there and remember our order. My boyfriend doesn't even like sushi and he loves it from Akane. I've tried to get him to eat sushi from other places and he's tried them but none compare to here. We moved from Langley to Surrey temporarily and we would make the 45 minute drive back to Walnut Grove just because we were craving it. It's a great place. They are always genuinely happy to see us and customers in general. They always give you 4 complimentary rolls that are " on the house " which is always a fun surprise. My sister is also very allergic to seafood but she still loves yam rolls, veggie rolls, etc. And they are always great about being careful to use different knives than the ones they've used to cut fish and she's never had a problem. Definitely give it a try. It might become one of your favorite and regular spots too!
We've been to this cute little restaurant 4 times now ...and have never been disappointed in the food! The service has improved (being that it used to be slow) ... I found even though it was packed inside, not a spare table anywhere, the staff was watchful and seemed dedicated to making sure they weren't missing any one's needs. We took my Mom there for her first time, and she really enjoyed it ... especially considering she is quite picky about Mexican food being authentic, it was a definite thumbs up from her!! We look forward to going back again on a sunny day, sipping margaritas on the deck, enjoying our food, and feeling like we've stepped into Mexico for a couple hours!! :)
Game 5 was approaching and having no time to make it back to Vancouver we beat the rush and hung around Langley, making our way here ahead of the influx.
My gf and I dug into the BP standards of wings, the thick cut potatoes and the bacon cheeseburger pizza. We decided on the baked variety of wings which lacked the crispier skin but retained the juices even better, though it seemed to make the salt and pepper cling far better than wanted. The thick cut potatoes were about as simple as you can get and made for great snacking with the side dip bringing some heat if plain wasn't your thing. The pizza was BP's usual, though the mushrooms at the bottom left the crust a little soggy.
There seemed to be a lot of really young staff working here; we were seated at our table by one who looked like they were 14yrs old and a few other that also looked like they were still in highschool. We had a couple of servers take us the rest of the way, with the service improving even further with our second one. Pretty impressive to say the least.
Though I doubt I'd make my way out here too often, this is easily one of the best overall BPs I've been to.
We've eaten at the old (in Langley) Seasonal 56 and the new (in Gloucester Esates) Seasonal 56 and have always enjoyed the food. Chef Beaty is amazing and his talent really shone through all dishes we've eaten (as well as the take out and catering we've enjoyed.) The glitch for this establishment, which has such potential, is the front of the house service which is almost always (unfortunately) mediocre at best. For all the attention to detail that happens on your plate, very little happens with service. Except for one instance where we were lucky enough to be waited on at lunch by a server whose been with the restaurant from the early days, the service has always been "so so", at best. Today, for Mother's Day Brunch, we waited a full 15 minutes after being seated before being greeted by a server and offered coffee and then another 10 minutes for the advertised baked goods basket to arrive - despite a reservation! Our server, while pleasant enough, appeared overwhelmed and inattentive ... which we've experienced before. We commented to each other what a shame it was that the level of care given the food was not given to the service. While we enjoy eating at the restaurant, we go with hesitation and always qualify it to our dining companions in advance, warning them that the service really isn't that good but the food is. That said, its not that good that people will continue to overlook the lackadasical service ... for this business to stay in it for the long haul, something will have to change.
It was our first time visiting Sonoma Grill with our friends who often go to sonama for dinner. My husband's friend had made the reservations in advance, so as soon as we got there we were directed to our table.
Since, our friend and his wife often go to Sonoma they felt quite at ease ordering their meal. Being vegetarian, I was a little worried, but with the help of staff we were also able to make our choices comfortably.
I ordered Sonoma Signature Romain Burning Salad(Just had to ask for more cheese). My husband started with Yam fries. For the main course my husband chose Chicken Breast and I chose Garden Pesto Penne. My husband said that the chicken was prepared very well and it had a great flavour to it. As for our friends they enjoyed their streak. We were too full to have any dessert, but our friend insisted that we try thier cheese cake. We jsut ordered one piece that was enjoyed by me and my husband.
It was a great experiece overall. The food was good and the service was wounderful. I am glad that our friends introduced Sonoma Grill to us. Thanks Mike and Joanne Henley.
My wife and I went to Sonoma Grill and Lounge for the first time last night, great atmosphere.
From the moment I walked through the door the service was outstanding! Very warm welcome and the servers were really friendly.
My wife and I were not sure what to pick off the menu as it all looked so good and server made some great recommendations for us and you could tell everyone that worked there was passionate about the place and really knew what they were talking about.
Perfect food and great sevice which really make a difference. Overall probably the best experience. I will definitely recommend Sonoma Grill and Lounge to everyone.
I know and I can’t wait to go back!!!
Well the food is pretty consistent. Food is hot and good. One night we went the server was AWFUL. she was so slow to come take our order and we had all you can eat and never came back to ask if we wanted more or refill our drinks. It was not busy so that was not an excuse she was flirting with some guy in the back and talking to other waitresses. Anyway this is disappointing as we like it there but she was a horrible server. One another note wait staff there normally are so good!
Tried this place when it first opened up, it was alright good portions, prices. I thought to give it another try with my Fiance and what a mistake! we left most/all of the food on our plates. I guess that didnt give a cluse to the waitress that the food was CRAP. Anyway save your money go some where decent.
I have purchased take out many times over the last 2-3 years. I beleive they have changed owners again. Anyway the food was really good Last year , now it varies from each time I order. I didnt get wasabi and soy sauce last time, so I was dissappointed. The service is always courteous, polite and prompt.
I do like it as the cost is great.
Spicy Dynamite roll!
My family has always celebrated birthdays, anniversaries here. It was when I tried a Shirley Temple(virgin) and it was the highlight of my time there. Now I am older and love to go there with my Fiance. we always have amazing service and food is always good. We are not wealthy so this place is perfect for an upgraded dining experience on a budget. Speaking of which we finally get to go there again for a quiet night out..no kids though lol.
This is place has a special place in my heart.
De Dutch Pannekoek House's (The Dutch Pancake House) is a great place. The food is tasty, well portioned (really big) and the service is young and kind. The real star was the staff. Our waitress was a crackup and really made you feel at home. This place is a go to if you are in the area. Never had bad service or a bad meal there. The cornbread, the breakfast pancakes all is very well made and delicious. Definitely a "family" place though. Many families eating
I submitted a review earlier - too bad it has to come off of the site for me to submit this one! i returned alone to Zythos on Saturday night after doing a couple of talks at Cedar Rim Nursery. Even though there was a retirement party with about 50 guests going on with all that entailed, staff still managed to give me stellar service. The food as usual was SO good. Their moussaka is to die for. Maria is so generous in spirit and many other ways :-) It is such good value - everything including salad, yummy tsatsiki, pita, delicious lemony roast potatoes, rice pilaf....all for about 16 bucks. If you live in Langley or Surrey you are crazy not to go to Zythos. Good that the road construction seems over for now - it was a bit of a zoo before. If I didn't live in Kitsilano, I'd be there at least once a week for the food and the top-notch genuinely warm service.
While Sonoma Grill under the previous ownership of Michael Olesen was terrific. The new owner appears to have zero interest in food quality or his kitchen.
My office is on the same street as Sonoma Grill and we often went there for lunches on Friday. However, when Michael advised us he had sold the restaurant we stopped going.
Last week I decided to give it a try. I had family in town from Arizona and though it would be nice to treat them to somethign other than The Keg which is where I ususally take them.
Upon arriving, our waitress was fantastic. We were greeted right away, had our drink order taken and delivered quickly as well as our food order taken.
This is the point where it goes badly. A table arrives after us, orders, gets their meal, eats their meal, gets their bill and pays and we still do not have any food.
We ask the waitress who says they are working and it and we are patient and say we understand, although really we don't since there is only 5 tables in the entire restaurant.
After one hour our food arrives.
My husband has Wor of Wonton soup that tastes only of salt and is cold.
I have Schnitzel with shrimp and crab bernainse. Bernaise sauce on the side is cold and has a skin on it. Shrimp and crab are dry. While the schnitzel is warm, the potatoes underneath are cold.
My Mom has the cajun shrimp and scallop pasta. Lukewarm, shrmp and scallop are so burnt they are brown on the inside. Cajun cream sauce is straight heavy cream with no seasoning whatsoever, most certainly not any cajun flavor.
My Uncle has a filet mignon with garlic mashed potatoes. Steak to be done medium. Steak is the only think that is hot on his plate and it is cooked well done. Potatoes are cold.
At this point it's a lost cause. My husband walks out to go to the pub acrosst the street to get some food ordered. The rest of us discuss and decide to leave. We get up and advise the waitress that we will pay for our drinks but not the food. This leads to the head waitress asking us why we are leaving which we explain.
All the while the owner is sitting in the bar area talking on his cell phone. Clearly not caring what his wait staff is experiencing. Clearly not caring that his kitchen can't handle orders for more than 5 tables. Most of all, clearly not caring that his customers have had a terrible experience.
I will never go back to Sonoma Grill again. I work with 20 people in my office who I have told about this terribel experience. As I mentioned I work on this street and I shop at many of the stores on this street. I have also told them about the experience, however, it appears I am not the only one. Many people have said since the new owner took over the quality of the food is terrible and he can't keep staff.
Save yourself the hassle and disspointment and go elsewhere. What a shame, it's really too bad Michael sold it. It was so wonderful before.
Finally got to eat at Dot`s. It was always packed before and I was lucky to pass by and only nine other customers in the place. I had the Meat pie and fresh cut fries. The meat pie was covered in mushrooms, onions and gravy. The sever asked me, when taking my order if I could handle the onions. Very thoughtful as I am an OAP , and some of us are subject to low tolerance to things like onion, etc.
Food was hot and delicious and yummy!
Not interested in wall covering, floor coverings or fancy tables. I have eaten in fancy places where service and food was lousy. Not what I am interested at all.
Dot`s has reasonable prices and outstanding food and service.
Looking forward to my next visit!
Have been a few times, once during the week and it was packed, was lucky to find a table. Once on the weekend and it was slow. I would think that more people might find there way out here for these sandwiches. I appreciate the choice between lean and marbled with the smoked meat sandwiches, go marbled every time. Such a beutiful texture and taste as the teeth just glide through the meat. The light rye bread perfect accents it. My only complaint is that it is so far away, but it is worth the visit every time.
Personally I think the lower mainland needs more places like this! A lovely little family owned diner in Langley that is reminiscent of what Langley used to be. Great fresh food, cheap prices and fast, friendly service. Located on the Fraser Highway in Langley it's a great place to stop if you are doing a little day tripping in the valley.
Four of us met for lunch and everything was fantastic. We sampled the chili burger, the mushroom burger, roast beef sandwich and homemade broccoli soup. The portions are large, the fries and burger patties are hand made each day. If you are feeling really hungry, try the Everest burger, 3 patties, sausage, ham, it was insane and the guy ate the whole thing!
The Hilltop Cafe is definitely a bright spot in over commercialized Langley
Last Saturday we pulled into Kostas hoping for a quick dinner before going to catch a show - we got here around 7:30 and the place was hopping - luckily the hostess was able to get us a table and advised our server we were in a hurry. Well... as we were sipping our martinis - the lights dimmed and out came a belly dancer - what a great surprise - you could see the whole restaraunt getting into the show. Regardless - we missed our movie as we were having such a great time there! They have a dance floor and great live music. Our food (Roast Lamb and Combination Souvlaki) was fantastic - the drinks were great and our waitress was the nicest I've encountered in a LONG time - we loved everything about the place - we'll be going back soon!!!
From the outside, Dot's certainly isn't eye-catching. With it's plain blue awning it's easy to walk past without even noticing. But on the inside, you'll find a lovely, owner run-and-operated diner with delicious, fresh food and great service.
The owners, Tracy and Vincent, have owned the place for coming up ten years. It's not uncommon to see them chatting with regular customers like old friends - and that's what you'll find when you visit for a hot meal. A friendly atmosphere that makes you feel right at home.
Contrary to one previous review, there are no frozen fries or hashbrowns found at Dot's. Every morning there is someone in the kitchen peeling and chopping potatoes, which makes the fries hot and tasty ever time. To say nothing of their fantastic deep-fried cubed hashbrowns. To die for!
The decor certainly isn't new. It's a cozy throwback to the mid seventies when little hometown diners were easy to find. I've been in countless times around closing, and there's always a lot of scrubbing, vaccuuming and general cleanup to be done. The carpet may have a little wear and tear, but really, you're not going to eat off it. The place is clean, smells delicious the moment you walk in, and the employees are always wiping the tables down and washing their hands. No complains in the cleanliness department.
The menu is simple - breakfast and lunch. Sandwiches, burgers, a daily soup, eggs, bacon, sausages, pancakes and eggs benedict. But the simplicity and familiarity takes nothing away from the taste. I have never had a disappointing experience there. And in the summer, the old-fashioned milk shakes are a wonderfully tasty and refreshing drink on a hot day.
These home-style diners are not for restaurant connoisseurs who would rather see a fancy presentation than a good meal and a smiling face.
