Tried Lee's for take out the other night. The place was dead, I was the only customer. The complete lack of updating both inside and outside the place made me a little hesitant but I gave it a try anyway. The young guy at the counter was a little sullen, but I think he was just bored. There isn't much to the menu; just chicken and a few sides and that's it. HOWEVER, my order came up super fast and it was fresh and tasty. A lot of zing in the batter, and it even tasted good as leftovers the next day. The only thing I didn't dig was the gravy, it didn't have a lot of flavor. Like the big name competitors, I think fried chicken is a little over priced, but it's nice as a treat.
It is so sad to see what's taking place here. Let's face it, the Sonoma Grill hasn't been very good for at least 5 years... Michael tried, but still the food and the service lacked. My husband and I have been supporting this place since we moved to Langley from South Surrey. Langley sorely lacks real restaurants. (Not chains) Now however, it's past the point of even being mediocre. The service has never been particularly outstanding, THe food, not over the top... However since this new owner bought it, it has been not worth it at all. My God, my husband ordered the prawn and scallop pasta, and it came with 10 scortched toothpicks standing up in the middle of the plate! I should have taken a picture of this! Can you see the plate now? Not a great looking (or tasting) pasta to begin with, and then blackened shrivelled toothpicks standing up in a group in the middle of the plate? My husband thought it must be for holding the plastic wrap away from the pasta when microwaving lol.
I had the mussels with fennel. Not very good now. They used to be one of the best things on the menu when Michael owned it, but not anymore. Hubby had the seafood fritter to start, and it's not too bad, as I'm positive they're not freshly made. So these frozen croquettes are thrown into oil and served. One of the best things on the menu now I think. I had schnitzel the last time we were unfortunate enough to go, so I was not going to have that again. I thought I'd go for the prime rib special. I asked for it medium rare, and it came well done. It took an hour and a half for that to arrive, so no way was I about to send it back. It was almost like there was a group of 16 year olds in that kitchen... Very sad. Obviously this new owner doesn 't give a crap. I doubt he has a lot of experience in the restaurant business... because with the internet, etc, word gets around very very fast.
I also have to acknowledge the lady that works on that street. I feel as heartbroken as you are. What a waste of a beautiful space there...
So in summary, save your money. Go somewhere else.
We eat at many fish and chips restaurants. This is one of, if not our, favourite. The batter on the fish is delicious and quite light. The family that runs it is always very friendly. The service is quite quick and the food consistent. We drive from Burnaby for this one every two or three months. You won't be disappointed.
If you consider fatty pork coated in soggy batter tasty then this I'd the place to go. On the other hand if you appreciate good tasting carefully prepared food then go elsewhere. I gave this place so many chances but I quit ordering from here after repeatedly recieving poor food. Another thing they never do is offer you the free menu items you get when you order over a certain amount. I always had to ask. The overall impression i get from here is that they don't care what comes out of the kitchen. The delivery person was very friendly though.
I'm surprised there are no reviews of this little hole on the wall. The food here is far superior to the other greasy Chinese places on town. Consistent quality and good service keep me coming back. Try the honey garlic pork and the war wonton soup. It's so good.
I really love the ambiance of Fort Langley, and I've been to Beatniks a few times now so I was excited for the food and quality that I've come to expect so far. The only issue I've ever had there is the occasional flub when it comes to service. We came on a quiet evening, and were sat immediately. However, our server didn't come over to take a drink order for just under 10 minutes. I used to work in the service industry, I know how it works. Sometimes you can't get right away if you're busy, but she flat out ignored us and went to other tables around us before she got to us after 10 minutes! We ordered drinks, and that took quite awhile too. Not really on par with the lack of tables there were. By that time, we were ready to order. She never asked about how our food was and seemed like she had better things to do. She seems a little past her prime...and didn't appear to be able to handle what looked like 5 or 6 tables. I've been served by the owner before, a really pleasant lady, and she's great, but this other waitress does not seem to enjoy her job and it shows. Our food was good, could have been a little more flavourful, but other then the service being poor, it was an alright experience. I'll try it again, and hopefully have a different server next time...
I have visited Seasonal 56 on several occasions. For special anniversary evenings, to casual lunch dates and have always found their food to be of exceptional quality. I am impressed with the knowledge that the food has been sourced locally and organically. Attention has been given to showcase the variety of their choices. The atmosphere is one of comfort and there is no pretention here. They want you to enjoy your
meal prepared with downtown flair and knowledge of fine cuisine. And that is what we have experienced on
all levels of preparation. Lunch time is more casual than the dinner hour and therefore more approachable as a drop in guest. You are still shown to table clothed seating but the atmosphere is relaxed and very pleasant. I do suggest you get there early though, as it has always been full whenever we have decided to
drop by for lunch. Evening meals must be accompanied by reservation. They do fill up. And although the
restaurant is in an industrial setting, you forget that with the lights lowered and candles on each table and soft music playing in the background. They supply the ambiance, only you can supply the romance. As for length of service, I have found it to be relaxing and less rushed than local fare. As the name implies, with their catering side, Seasonal Experience, you are here for the experience and it is one that I enjoy, Do I recommend both venues. Wholeheartedly yes.
Okay... so Montanas... where do I start...
When people think of hot wings, I am sure Montanas is pretty low on the ladder for restaurants that pop into your head. Montanas has some of the best hot wings I have ever had... corn breaded to perfection, hot as heck if you like them that way... I crave them regularly and eat them regularly. Burgers are pretty good as well and usually served with all the goodies, ketchup relish and mustard bottles so you can douse the thing to your hearts desire.
On the other hand, ribs? okay but I would expect better... Meatloaf?? (yes, I once ordered the meatloaf) stay away unless you enjoy eating salt... Service? unusually poor even when compared to other chain restaurants. Ambiance, well... okay I guess... the new location in South Surrey is much better but then again, it is new. (I also find the food and service in South Surrey to be more consistent).
All in all if I did not get supreme cravings for their hotwings, I would skip this place, but if you want a cold pint and a basket of wings that will knock your socks off??? Montanas should be your destination of choice.
Went there for lunch for a special occasion. I have never encountered such slow service in my life. Two of the guests were served their first course what seemed like hours before the others' entrees arrived. The waiter was not particularly warm and refused to make eye contact whenever I tried to catch his eye about how slow our meals were. I almost got up and chased him into the kitchen area but did not want to spoil our special occasion. The entrees finally arrived without a word of apology and from a different server.
The food was pricey for the quality.
Won't go again.
The owner (I think?) always remembers my order... He's super nice and makes a point of knowing his customers. The food is quick and for the most part pretty healthy.
Their Mediterranean Salad is pretty good, though I haven't had it in a while since I usually go for the chicken pita these days (hot! with peri fries). It's mostly chicken (if not all?) on the menu but you can have your choice in how its prepared. The food is always fresh, tasty and fast... what more can you ask for? A little pricey I guess but it's a hybrid of fast food and sit down, so really who can complain.
Looooove this place. Yum!
One of the few non-Japanese-run sushi places I frequent.
I had to "lol" at the comment below about the big hat. It's true.
These two are really nice people. The wife is always so sweet and the chef is always smiling.
Fish is fresh, good portions and good presentation. Always tasty!
Only complaint is sometimes the tempura doesn't feel fried in fresh oil...
But other than that, I eat at this place at least once every 2 months or so.
I took my family out to Montana's on a Tuesday night only to be pleasantly surprised to find out that kids eat free on tuesdays (one free kids meal per adult entree purchased)! My husband got the ribs which were delicious and came a baked potato and veggies. He was full halfway through but couldnt stop eating because it was just so good! I ordered the mediterranean goat cheese chicken which was also delicious, a new favorite for sure. Our girls enjoyed their kids meal and kids dessert, but most of all they enjoyed the magician that montana's has on tuesdays. Overall it was a wonderful dining experience and we'll for sure be coming back for more fun family nights!
I love see the train and food is pretty good but over price for what u get and can be oily but most times it pretty good the hambugers are very good and the staff is great too choochoo love the train makes me fell young angain wich is good at heart
I have eaten here twice, and both times I have been satisfied with my meal. The first time I had the chicken souvlaki and just yesterday had the NY steak.
I asked for my steak rare and got it borderline blue rare. It was underseasoned but only slightly. It comes with parboiled then sort of roasted potatoes, some slivers of garlic bread and some green salad. The salad was nice and fresh, but the potatoes tasted slightly old. The bottle of vinaigrette that they provided us helped with that for sure. Slightly unsatisfactory potatoes is a small price to pay for $11 steak dinner!!
I also had the tzatziki and pita appetizer. That was good. Not too much garlic and the pita was thick, hot and fresh. very nice.
My boyfriend had the mozza burger and that was pretty good too. Big burgers for $11.
All around good place. You have to expect some level of dissatisfaction at that price and for a small business. They get it right where it matters though.
I now officially like Moxie's. I was in Langley two weeks ago to meet a lady friend. Although the service isnt fast (and normally given the beautiful ladies that is more than alright). But I absolutely LOVE the Chicken Curry and Martini. I go to Moxie's once every couple of months for work lunch and I always order the same thing, I love it that much!! The spinach dip appetizer is great too. Good wine choices.
We both had burgers for lunch which were very good. The yam fries were good but the onion rings were great. Our server was pleasant and attentive We ate on the patio which was really nice this sunny day. Only negative was that the place still smells of cigarette smoke even after all these years of smoke free public places.
These people can make pizza good and fresh and the price is rite!!! I've ordered here many times and found there pizza to be excellent. I can't comment to much on the rest of the menu but as far as I'm concerned it's the best pizza in Langley bar none!! All the rite things in taste and quantity!! Yummy!!
I often come in to enjoy the thali lunch special. Thali is a complete Indian meal prepared fresh. The food is always fresh and full of flavour. I have tried many Indian restaurants but this one is the best I have ever had. The tandoori chicken is always cooked perfectly. The curries have so much flavour and can be as mild or hot as you desire. Everything is absolutely delicious. Portions are very generous and the prices are very reasonable. Excellent value. Highly recommended.
Mongolian restaurants have fantastic foods, offer a wide selection of food and are surprisingly tasty. By this standard this restaurant is dead on.
Most Mongolian restaurants also offer good service and inexpensive food. I did not see anyone at the restaurant except the person who dropped the food off at my table and the cook. My plate, laden with meat and veggies, cost me 32$. At a similar mongolian restaurant would have been 12.99 and I could have gone back for more. Brutally expensive.
As a Paleo diner, it is a perfect style of restaurant, but for the value there are much better restaurants.
Best sushi in Langley BAR NONE!
I have ordered almost everything on the menu and have always been downright impressed!
Even the more adventurous can enjoy the sushi here. I order the Chirashi don and I have never been disappointed.
The chef greets the customers, the little details are all in place, the tea is perfect, the ambiance is great, and the food is AMAZING!!!!
