If you don't mind waiting a lot and you enjoy flavourless food where kids roll in the aisles, this is the place for you! The service and food were awful. I'll never go to a Olive Garden again. I went after having not been to one in a few years. They should never have changed it- their attempt to be classier has just led to extraordinarily poor quality food and disorganized service. It wasn't even busy!
My SO and I were down at Langley and decided to try Pasto Polo. I ordered Italian Sausage and she ordered seafood pasta. Within the first bite I could tell it was bland. Same goes for her seafood pasta. It felt like they took a tablespoon of sauce mixed with 2 cups of water and dumped it on the pasta. That's how bland it was. Same goes for SO’s pasta. No amount of salt and pepper can fix it. The portions are huge and service is decent. Disappointed, we left with 1/4 of our pasta eaten. It’s safe to say my SO and I will not be coming here again.
We stopped here while waiting for the Sundance balloon people. My friend ordered chicken corsica and had nothing but good things to say about it. He ate the whole thing despite complaining of being full. Must have been good. He ordered a greek salad too but I wasn't really allowed to have any. He seemed to enjoy it though.
The menu is interesting with lots of Greek goodies. I would definitely try the spanakopita or kalamari if I came back.
Our server was awesome. Very friendly, patient, and attentive. Checked on us to make sure everything was good a few times. We felt very welcomed.
Nice sunny patio. Awesome!
We stopped here for dinner after hearing great reviews. I don't understand why, it was such a disappointment. We ordered dinner box A and appetizer sashimi to share. The tuna sashimi was FROZEN. Why? This makes me really mad. Why do they freeze the sashimi in the first place? And if they must, how are properly thawing it before serving it? The salmon wasn't frozen but it was mushy and not fresh. Bleh.
The dinner box seemed okay but small in size and poor value. The service was horrible. We never got our tea refilled, even after I pushed my cup to the edge of the table. No one checked on us either. I'm guessing because they didn't want to give us a chance to send the nasty sashimi back?
What's with all the pictures everywhere too? They plaster the walls AND the ceiling. So tacky.
Never returning. Stay away!!
The food is OK. However, the service is terribly slow. They took a hour and 15 minutes to bring our main courses. Worst of all, it took them an hour to tell me that they were out of the main that I ordered. It is just a burger guys. One hour of watching TV in an empty fast food restauarnt.
Found this place accidentally, and what a find! We now go back almost weekly, and usually always for the same things! The greek salad is amazing, truly the best I've ever had. Chicken Souvlaki, and Chicken Parm are always ordered, and the staff are always friendly! The Roast Potatoes are truly the best around, and the serving size is rather large! We have gone to other greek restaurants in the area, but this one is the best value, best food and best overall! I know other Ocean Park restaurants are around, not sure if they are independent or not, but this one is hard to beat! Try the rest, keep coming back to the best!
New location, in the Sandman Signature @ 200th & Hwy 1. Was looking forward to the rooftop patio, but it wasn't open yet. About 8 staff greet you and all repeat the drink special...a little monotonous, especially because "bad boy beer" is not something I would order. We sat on the ground level patio which was okay, despite the techno blaring above us. Had to get up and actually track down a server to bring us drinks, too bad one of those eight that greeted us wasn't given additional duties.
The white wine arrived warm, not offf cold, but actually warm. After asking for a cooler and some ice, it took a full 15 to get it drinkable. Ah, bartender? Apparently their liquor order arrived late? Perhaps suggest an alternative?
Food was very average, the avocado spring rolls are just weird. Warm avocado just doesn't work. Everyone at the table tried a bite and agreed. Crab cakes were bland and over coated and calmari portion could not be shared, there was so little of it. Compared to the food quality to somehwere like Cactus Club, this doesn't even come close. The staff as usual have little clothes and apparently even less training or knowledge of how to provide good service. The manager did visit the table and comped the avocado, nice to see at least an effort, but it won't be enough to bring us back. I'd choose Brown's instead.
I went there twice last week. The first time was for lunch , i had an awesome window seat. The waitress treated me great and really took care of me. I had one of the specials , it was a chicken wrap it came with rice and a salad for on $4.95 as long as you get a beverage , I had diet coke. It filled me it was super quick and the whole meal cost about $9.00 includeing tax and tip. YOU CAN'T GET FAST FOOD FOR THIS PRICE ! And this food is pretty healthy..
2nd time was for dinner , Same great service. This time i had a New York steak cooked medium perfectly , cames with potatoes , rice and a salad and garlic bread for $12.00. I had super cold beer that was only priced at $3.95. My total dinner bill was less the $20.00..
Have been going to the NY Grill since it first opened so maybe I've eaten there 15 to 20 times. Some of the menu was hit and miss at first but overall the food is good quality with the best prices around. They have $6.95 weekday specials which will easily fill you, I order the calamari every time because it's very good and a great deal, big rings served very fast. I've had the prawn dinner and it came with 12 large prawns for 10 bucks, can't make it at home for that. The draft beer is cold and good and the manager, she is friendly. They now take credit cards so thats better, they have had a lot of different waitress over the years, the atmosphere is nothing special but the place is always clean, the TVs are nice but not HD. I always wonder why there's not more people in the place because the food is good and pretty healthy.
My family and I always look for an opportunity to eat at Ashoka or order for pick up. The food is wonderful and the staff friendly and the prices are ok too. My daughter's friend from North Vancouver said the food at Ashoka is far better than any of the restaurants in North Van.
C & U is our favorite restaurant in the Vancouver area. The food is ALWAYS great. The spring rolls are the best anywhere. The woners are pleasant and work hard to satisfy their customers. I recommend this place to everybody I know. I can't say enough about how tasty the food is.
I just stopped by this place for a quick snack. I wasn't really expecting anything but I was nearly shocked how great this short experience was!
I only had a few pieces of Nigiri Sushi & a Sunomono.
The sushi rice was really nice. Packed just right so that it was tender yet firm enough to stay together.
The fish quality was nice and they actually served Sockeye Salmon without asking for it!
The prices are great! The portion (Sushi Size) was big.
The sunomono was nice and light and a decent size.
The Chef let me try a complimentary deep fried California Roll which I had never tried any where before, and it was really good!
The service was awesome. There were two young guy waters, very polite and professional.
The interior is really nice, kinda cozy. Done up to look like a traditional Japanese small old time restaurant.
To top it off, they served a nice carved orange for desert again, complementary!
This little place impressed me a lot. I will definitely go back to try a full meal to see what the cooked food is like as well. I'd say this place is well worth the visit, even if you live a bit far away from it.
I have been there several times in the last few months and have to say, it is without a doubt the best Chinese food I have ever had.
The service was always fast and friendly and the restaurant is new and tastefully decorated.
The food is incredible, I had orange beef one time and the flavour JUMPED out, absolutely great!
I also loved their ginger beef, and Moo Shu pork.
I have gone back with several friends on a number of occasions and everyone loved it.
I don't understand some of the bad reviews I read on here, they can't be talking about the same place, or maybe its the competition, either way I highly recommend this restaurant.
I went here to grab a quick bite on my lunch break. I ordered the teriyaki lunch box. I was extremely disappointed. Probably the worst sushi I have ever eaten. The miso soup was flavorless, and the teriyaki chicken had bones in it. Not to mention that the chef was sneezing and blowing his nose all over the restaurant, without washing his hands, or covering his mouth. It was such a waste of money. It cost me over 11 dollars for this meal, and for someone on a budget that doesn’t get to eat out that much, this is a lot of money. Not only have I wasted my money, I am still hungry. After biting into the bone of the chicken, I didn't even bother giving the rest of the meal a chance. I threw it away, and warned my office never to go there. Hopefully I do not get food poisoning. Have a great day everybody.
My gf and I had joked in the past about coming here and recently it turned into reality when she was craving pasta and I was willing to deal with the lineups.
They portray a family oriented position, along the lines of The Pantry and White Spot and very much like what you'd like in the US. The space feels like a large suburban home divided up into different sections and you are surrounded by families and children making for a pretty lively and G rated atmosphere.
Knowing that it came with unlimited salad and breaksticks we passed on starters. The salad was decidely better than you would expect for limitless sides and was much more than just iceberg lettuce with croutons, red onion, olives and even a decent house vinagrette dressing. The breadsticks were fresh and brushed with a little oil, salt and I think garlic powder but I thought they were mediocre at best and wouldn't fill up on it given the menu choices. My gf's braised beef tortelloni was a full on dish. The beef shortribs were tender and was quite good for flavour while the tortelloni had an unexciting asiago filling. The supposed marsala that was used was pretty timid among the cheese, portobello and beef. I ordered the chicken and shrimp carbonara with perfectly cooked plump shrimps and breast meat that was still fork tender. The pancetta, although not cooked to a bacon crisp livened up the parmesan cream sauce making it the best pasta dish of the two. Portions aren't as daunting as I thought but these you really leave packed. We finished off the meal with a couple of mini desserts, a tiramisu and a strawberry shortcake which ended a rather satisfying meal.
Given the reviews I figured the service could be on and off depending on who you got. Luckily for us it was fantastic all round. They gave introductions, ran through the menu, and prompted us ahead of time when another server would take care of us. This along with timely checkups and some small banter without going over the top was a welcomed and somewhat unusual find these days. Looking at the other tables around us the service looked to be much of the same as well.
We weren't expecting to be wowed with the food but I can see why it's such a popular place. It really is that family friendly restaurant.
I tried this places food for thed first time today. The 3 item plate for about $8.00 It was good. I ordered Chicken Chow Mein, Sweet and Sour pork and the Almond Chicken. The Sweet and Sour pork was fine but the Chicken chow mein and Almond Chicken were disapointing. First of all, the Chow mein was very oily and greasy and I was full and felt gross after a few spoonfuls of it. The Almond Chicken was so dry that it had literally no flavour! It was unbelivable how dry it was! Almond Chicken is our family favorite..however we have only had mulitple times at Wok Box (Wok Box has amazing food, especially almond chicken) but this was just so dry!
It is very expensive to get one dish..Sweet and Sour pork is almost $9!
I would recommend getting the "Make your own Combination" deal is definately the way to go.
Bubble Tea is not the best here..Strawberry tasted a lot like Bubble Gum.
For Bubble Tea..if convient get it here..if not I think go an extra five minutes to Bubble Inn (By Mcdonalds and A&W)
Its a good restaurant. The interior is a nice and warm feeling but the main lady at the front has a "I have better things to do" kind of attitude, which is disapointing considering you most likely went out of your way considering where this place is..the parking lot is not very "easy".
The chow mein noodles and rice is great..considering other chinese fast food places have very dry rice like Machu Wok. The sweet and sour pork..which i dont know about you..but for me is something i always get, had barely any sauce on it!
There are definately better places in the area to go to like Wok Box or Fork "n" Chopstix.
I am Canadian of Indian origin. I have eaten at many Indian restaurants in the Metro Vancouver area & find the food to be the best at Tandoori Flame.
The staff is very friendly & very courteous. The place is clean & being on Fraser Highway, is very axcessible.
The food is excellent. The chef is a well-trained Indian Chef and makes authentic Indian food. My wife surprised me with having my 50th birthday celebrated there with 40 friends invited and the food and service was appreciated by all.
We went to Denny's for breakfast on a Saturday. The place was busy but we were seated right away and our server took our orders quickly. Our meals came out in NO TIME. They were hot and fresh and delicious. Our server seemed to be near by whenever we needed her and she was friendly and attentive. I was worried that our one year old son would get bored and make a fuss, but everything happened so quickly, he didn't have a chance. Very impressed with Denny's.
Tried Lee's for take out the other night. The place was dead, I was the only customer. The complete lack of updating both inside and outside the place made me a little hesitant but I gave it a try anyway. The young guy at the counter was a little sullen, but I think he was just bored. There isn't much to the menu; just chicken and a few sides and that's it. HOWEVER, my order came up super fast and it was fresh and tasty. A lot of zing in the batter, and it even tasted good as leftovers the next day. The only thing I didn't dig was the gravy, it didn't have a lot of flavor. Like the big name competitors, I think fried chicken is a little over priced, but it's nice as a treat.
