My daughter and i come here when we're craving good fries and appies. I always order gravy on the side when i order the fries, my only complaint is that it's $1 extra for a teeny tiny little dish of gravy. But the gravy is great so i suck it up and pay. The wings are yummy as are the onion rings...actually the onion rings are the best i've had. No greasy batter! They are soaked in buttermilk and breaded, crunchy and fabulous! We also enjoy the smoked salmon dip with bread for dipping...i can't say the prices are great but it really is a fun place to eat, the quality of service and ambience make it worthwhile for us.
And save room for dessert...not being big appetites, it's something we never manage to do...one day...one day we'll come JUST for dessert.
Wow. I have such a hard time finding a Greek restaurant that has tramasalata & if i do find it, it's often not quite right. Not a big hummus fan and tzatziki is too predictable...tho' their's is good here. When I saw they had my favourite dip I ordered it right away. I was very impressed. On that alone, I'll come back. My friend had the lamb and really enjoyed it and I thoroughly enjoyed my greek salad also. When i went back a couple of days later to get a gift certificate for a gift (at Christmas time), the owners son said his mom (grandma??) was baking greek shortbread in the kitchen and would i please wait he wanted to give me some. Great service! And delicious cookies! When I'm craving greek in Langley, this is where I come. And next on my list of menu items to try? Nagasaki aka flaming cheese. Hopefully it's as good as the taramasalata!
I had been craving a Halifax donair... the kind with the yummy sweet sauce, and had found it difficult to come across. Until Donair Hut. The owner/operator is wonderfully friendly, remembered me from a visit 2 years prior when i'd stopped in with my son to grab him a donair. WOW! Great service and very nice. I liked the fact that the donair wasn't overly bready, the mear was perfectly spiced (i chose beef, but you can have chicken or lamb too) and the Halifax sauce was JUST what i needed to fill that void i was feeling. I will be back, but will also remember to go with an appetite! He has almost a dozen donairs to choose from, but i have a feeling the Halifax will be my go-to! Yum!
Simply put, WOW. On two visits, this place is 2 for 2. The portion sizes are amazing and the flavour and quality terrific. The sweet and sour pork is out of this world, gristle-free, tender and delicious. Last visit, just this past weekend, the cold had me yearning for soup...and an inexpensive meal. Cue, WOKing restaurant. The won ton soup is the best I've ever eaten. Perfect broth, crisp vegetables, tender meat and succulent and nicely sized (two-bite) won tons (5 of them in a small)...all for $2.95. If you're a little more hungry (a small bowl was plenty for me that day), get a large for $2 more, or add an egg roll for an extra $1.25. These are no ordinary egg rolls either. About 5'' to 6'' long, filled with shredded veggies and not overly greasy. Served piping hot! There you go, you'd have lunch under $5. This is now my soup destination...they also have war won ton, hot and spicy won ton and others to choose. Try for yourself, you'll see!
Let me preface this review of Glenwood by saying that the true test of a pizza joint is the quality of the Capicola Ham they use.
This was the second time we have ordered from Glenwood. We ordered the "Standard" Pizza which was very good. Lots of toppings, cheese etc. The second pizza was "Capicola Hawaiian". Your typical Hawaiian with Capicola as a substitute for regular ham. You would think that when you order Capicola Ham, you expect to see and taste it on your pizza.
Capicola for those who don't know, is a spiced Italian Ham, characterized by a red/orange rind and red/orange veins into the marbled pork. Tasty and spicy.
I will make a habit of ordering Capicola Ham as a test of a pizza establishment, mostly because cheap owners think they can buffalo the ignorant masses with a lame alternative of ham and a pathetic sprinkling of cayenne pepper.
Sad to say Glenwood takes the cheap, easy out, and provides the ham and cayenne. Tisk,tisk,tisk...
Glenwood: you could be so much more. But alas you cave to the almighty dollar. Shame.
When this terrible travesty was discovered, and the establishment was confronted with the deception, I was put on hold whilst a convenient excuse was formulated. You will recall from the earlier rantings that I had made two excursions into the Glenwood culinary world, three years prior I might add. Well knock me down and call me Susan if they didn't give me the same tripe of an excuse as last time.."That's all we had tonight".What?
HAM is all you ever have Glenwood! Please don't disrespect the residents of Brookswood by passing off Ham and Cayenne as Capicola! If you don't have Capicola, say you don't have it and I will order something else. Can you imagine ordering a Hawaiian and getting Tomatoes instead of Pinapple and getting the excuse "That's all we had"? Not a chance!
The truth is, Glenwood is not the only one playing the phony Capicola Shame.. Oh I mean Game... 3 Stars
I enjoyed the Burger and Fries deal on Tuesday for my first time--fantastic! i couldn't believe that i could get a decent (if not delicious) burger AND fries for $5!
The service was great and the atmosphere was fun. It was pretty busy but we found seats right away and were able to watch the end of the Canucks' game (shoot-out win!).
Next time i go to the Dodger, I think i'll be brave and sit at the bar--it's a gorgeous bar and there's sure to be plenty of interaction with the bartender, servers and other customers. What a great neighbourhood pub!
My group are regular customers at C-Lovers - we are usually there once a month or so. The "all you can eat" is plentiful and hot and a decent value. The ambiance is pretty blah, not terribly comfortable or welcoming not my cup of tea - my group is all about the food. My concern is with their group "gratuity policy" Having had this incident happen twice and having spoken to the manager it's something people should be aware of. I (or my staff) bring in a small group of 6-8 clients, who are on a very fixed income. Depending upon the waitstaff, gratuity has been added to our bill because we are a so-called large group.(when I spoke with the mngr. he couldn't really tell me what their policy was) The fact that tip is already added to our bill was not brought to our attention nor mentioned at any time. Most restaurants add gratuity if it is a group over 10 or 12 not 6-8 and not in a restaurant of this caliber. The waitress who does up our bill is well aware that gratuity has been added but is more than happy to accept the second tip without making any attempt to make sure we were aware it was already included. A $30 tip for a $120 bill at C-Lover's is a bit excessive! Incidents like this make me really not want to go back to a restaurant/store and if it wasn't my clients favorite place- I wouldn't. For their sake we'll go again but I will be sure that my staff are very aware that this double-dipping is a sometime occurrence at this restaurant and to be vigilant as should everyone else who dines here - I'm sure we're not the first to be caught unaware.
My boyfriend and I are expecting a baby, so instead of going out partying on NYE he asked me where I would like to eat, and I chose Olive Garden. We expected upwards of an hour to wait, but when we arrived we were pleased to hear that it would only be about 20 minutes. They gave us a pager and offered us seats at the bar. My boyfriend ordered a double Caesar, and I watched the bartender put more than two shots in it, and he garnished it beautifully with olives, spicy pepperoni, and onions. Best looking Caesar I ever saw!!
Promptly 20 minutes later we were seated, and our server at once seemed very friendly and up beat. We chatted with him a bit as we looked over our menus, and he offered me a taste of red wine they had on special. My boyfriend ordered the stuffed mushrooms as an appy, and I ordered the spinach and artichoke dip. When they arrived, my boyfriend was less than impressed with the mushrooms and felt he had made the wrong choice. He wasn't too shy to tell the waiter either, who comped that appetizer and offered to bring him a new one. My appetizer was excellent. For dinner, we ordered the Italian Feast which is three different small portions of the pasta dishes off of their Classic Recipes menu. I had the fettuccine, cheese ravioli, and chicken parm and bf had the same except marinated grilled chicken instead of chicken parm. All was good except the chicken parm, which I didn't end up eating. I found it a bit rubbery (I am pregnant though and wary about eating anything that might make me feel sick).
Oh I should also mention that the breadsticks and salad were both excellent, and bf had the minestrone soup which he said was excellent. No complaints.
Near the end of our meal, while trying to remove a few of the many plates that had piled up over the course of an hour on our table, our server accidentally knocked over the last half of bf's Caesar. He offered to bring him a new one, but he declined as he still had to drive us home. The waiter said he would comp us, but unfortunately we had already paid for the drink at the bar, so this never happened. Not a big deal.
The manager came by to talk to us about the appetizer bf had ordered that he had sent back, and said it wasn't a problem and that it would be removed from our bill. He then offered us both $5.00 gift certificates for our next visit. He was a very personable and pleasant man.
Our leftovers were packed up neatly by our server on a tray at our table, and hung neatly on the back of my chair. We left a very nice tip and told the manager we would be back again. I may order something different next time, but my overall experience was very good and I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who is sick of the usual White Spot/Red Robin/Earls atmosphere.
Recently one morning, I was waiting to place my order at one of the drive through intercoms (there are 2 at this location). There were no other vehicles around, but there was a bit of a queue at the pick up window. I waited there at least 5 minutes. Another vehicle pulled up to the intercom beside me and proceeded to have their order taken. Finally, someone came on the intercom to take my order. When I told the person taking my order that I had been waiting long before the other vehicle had pulled up, basically I was told "Sorry, but too bad" When I got up to the window to pay, I asked the cashier (it was the same person who took my order) the name of the manager at this location. She replied "I am" I asked her if it was their policy to treat their customers so poorly, she just shrugged and said "whatever" I then replied that this would be the last time I ever go to that restaurant again. Again, the attitude what "So what"
You'll never see me at this McDonald's ever again.
My husband and I went for diner at Kostas mid week and had such a great experience. The tzatziki was incredible and calamari was fresh, crisp and not greasy. It had a nice and relaxing ambiance with really great service. They frequently have specials on dinner buy one entree and two drinks get a second entree free. Next time we go we will try one of the platters, it had a variety of difference greek food that we both wanted to try.Overall I was impressed and will return in the near future.
This place is a favourite of myself and a couple dozen other people I work with. I usually pickup lunch for myself and a few others at least 2-3 times a week from here. The food tastes great and the price is amazing for how much you get! For the same price as a 6" sub, you get a much tastier and healthier product. For $2 extra, ask for it super-sized to get way more meat. Regular size or super size, you can't go wrong. I've only tried the chicken in the donairs, but the chicken is so good I've had no desire to try the beef or falafel.
Just don't expect 5-star dining accommodations in the restaurant. They are a small place and only have a few tables. Most people order their food To-Go.
It's cheaper than any local fast food. It tastes so much better than fast food, and it's healthy compared to fast food. Try it!!!
The wings were not very flavourful and had an odd thick coating like all bran or a heavy wheat.
Our dinner was luke warm. I had the pot roast; the gravy seemed as though out of a can or package.
The potatoes didn't tast fresh or homemade. The yorkshire pudding was harder to cut than the
The service was good. The waiter gave our wings to us no charge because of the long wait.
My husband had a pulled pork sandwhich and enjoyed it. My son had the firecracker burger and enjoyed
My husband and I went to Mr Mikes for dinner on New Years Eve and we were VERY impressed. Everything was incrediable, sevice was outstanding as was the food. We had the steak and crab dinner and it was as good as anywhere I have ever had. Thank You and we will be back very soon.
I live in Burnaby, BC, but whenever a friend and I are out in Langley toodling around on a Saturday, we always lunch at the Donair Hut.
They make the best donairs and what we like is the friendly and wonderful staff. They go out of their way for your comfort and satifaction.
On our last visit in mid-December, 2011, a customer ordered and while he was waiting went outside to take a call on his cell. His donair was done before his phone call, so one of the staff came out from behind the cook area and went out into the street to give this customer his order.
Each time I have been there, I have witnessed how great they are in taking care of the customer.....not to mention the absolute tasty donairs!
This place is a must next time in Langley.
P.S. This website only allows one choice in dine-in, take-out, etc. which is unfortunate - Donair Hut is both dine-in and take-out.
I'm skeptical of food quality and value when dining at a chain, but we were hungry from Christmas shopping and we didn't have to move the car (high praise I know).
They've done a nice job on the renos, the decor is chic and inviting, the booths provide some privacy and the different heights and layers help with noise.
We had share plates, here's the hit and miss. Prawn gyoza was very good. Too bad the server didn't take time to explain the three sauces that were placed alongside. The prawn tacos with chocolate bacon were odd to say the least. Chipotle mayo was overpowering and the bacon thing just off putting, especially because it was rather soft ( not crispy like you would expect). Lastly the wok broccolini, way too much chili, we couldn't finish it, but downed two glasses of water! Best part of our lunch experience was the super cool teapots, just order one for fun.
I did scan the wine list and for dinner, that will need LOTS of work. PS. Rockford, not paying $51 for Kim Crawford Sauv Blanc, it's $21 at LDB. give me more choice and better value, we may return.
My husband and I recently moved to the Langley area, and we both LOVE greek food. We were happy to find Kosta's Greek restaurant this past weekend.
We were greeted right away by our server, and she was quick to grab our drink orders and offer suggestions for appetizers. We decided to have a saganaki as per her suggestion and some calamari. The calamari came with the most incredible tasting tatziki. We ended up ordering an additional large size to have as extra throughout our meal. The saganaki was breaded goat cheese and we had the option of having it lit. We decided that flamable foods were not the best idea for us. I had the spanikopita dinner. I could tell it was made fresh! The spinach and feta were delicious, it also had a generous portion of rice which is one of my favourite staple and roasted potatoes.
My husband ordered the ribs, which the server later offered a choice of either BBQ or Greek. We opted for the Greek dry rub and it was fantasitc! Between our appitizers and meal our server brought out greek salad and pita bread, the greek salad had a really nice tangy dressing.
For dessert, we shared a cheesecake. Again, this was recommended by the server and it was delicious. When the server came to check on us and refill our coffees, she mentioned that the owner herself makes the cheesecake from scratch!
We decided that we were going to spend New years eve there and purchsed tickets that night!
Next time we go we will try one of the platters the table next to us had ordered, as it had a variety of difference greek fpods that we both wanted to try.
We will definitely be coming back soon!
Went there last week for my birthday party. The service was wonderful and the food was even better!
We had a warm welcome and all the setting was done according our requirements. All the arrangements were done as we requested. We stayed there very late but there service was excellent.
At first I was a little unsure about the restaurant going in since as we were reading the previous reviews, but then me and wife had dinner there, we were very pleasantly surprised it was excellent I ordered prime ribs and tried butter chicken such wonderful meals. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our experience!
The food was fabulous!
So we booked our party such a wonderful experience very warm welcome.
Fabulous food and there house made Cheese cake was the best. Am definitely returning!
Although we hardly need another chain restaurant in Langley, this one does offer some great alternative menu options, and a fantastic bar and ambiance.
Offering an asian/wok theme, there are some fantastic menu items such as the Prawn tacos with chocolate bacon, Kung Pao chicken, and Szeschuan beef. The bar side is our favourite, as it offers a great vibe, and the decor is modern and cool. The current GM does a fantastic job at making everyone feel welcome.
If you are looking for dinner out in Langley, add this to your list of places to try, it's on par with Milestones or Earls and offers some great menu items. Prices are around the same as well.
We made the mistake of coming here right after it opened and also sat in the bar. The service was terrible. We were served by some ditzy server who didn't have any knowledge of what was in the sauces they were using but boasted that she had worked there for 2 years. She was slow and unattentive, and I don't know if this is because we sat in the bar section and not the formal dining area. Our bread came way later on in the meal and the appy came way too early. We ordered the lobster special that was baked with cheese on it. For entrees I ordered the teriyaki steak medium rare. My honey ordered a regular steak medium rare. We both ordered twice baked potatoes. The potatoes were runny and my steak was the toughest steak I'd ever been served. Because we had ditzy serving us, she didn't come back and check on us and we felt very ignored.
I ended up calling the general manager the next day and describing my experience. Although he said that I should get the same service in the bar as in the dining section, he was apologetic and sent a $50.00 gift card in the mail. We since used it at another location.
Go to the Willingdon location if you want excellent service and food.
me and my family have been coming here for a while now and love the food. there is a couple who works during the week and they are super nice! the girls who they have running it on the weekend are absolutely rude! the place opens at 11am and we approached the restaurant at 10:58 and were turned away by the girl standing outside smoking. I guessz she had to wait for her boyfriend who was walking across the parking lot to bring her tim hortons before she would open to the public. she looked at us and said that they would not be open for another ten minutes. will not be back because of this. very disapointed.
