Great Server

I've been going to the New westminster Old Spaghetti factory for the past 20 years. in the past year I've been dating a guy in Langley, so we go to Langley Spaghetti factory quite a bit. We love that we can go to dinner then go to a movie after, for a pretty good price. The food is pretty good, My favorite is the Manicotti, or Lasagna. I'm not too keen on the marinated mushrooms though, they taste like they're sour :S. In the past year I must say that I have met some good servers and bad ones, But I think my all time favorite is a server named Alisha. Everytime we go in there, She Always wears a big smile and is very prompt and patient with us, as my Fiance takes so long to order at times. Also she always makes sure we are finished and billed in time for us to catch our movie. Thank you and Keep up the good work OSF!!!

Nice decor and the prices to match... however

My boyfriend and I went here for an anniversary dinner. We wanted something low key and casual. He picked Sammy J's because he hadn't been in a long time and I had never been period. First of all I will say the decor was nice, they had renovated in July and it was very contemporary... a little Cactus-esque. We were promptly seated in the dining area and were one of 2 other tables there. The "sports area" is sectioned off and it was packed with people. It was quiet in our area though, which was appropriate for our occasion and a Monday night.

We had a very new waitress who said that right off the bat. We ordered Blackjack strips for an appy, which the waitress should have warned us were SPICY... (my boyfriend likes spicy and even he needed some water.) She didn't take our main order until after the Blackjack strips were done. Again I'll give her the benefit of the doubt that she was new. The BF ordered a Tom Collins and I ordered a Bellini. Both were so-so... nothing exceptional. For our mains, I ordered the Kung Pao bowl with half chicken, half shrimp and the BF ordered Penne Chicken with cream sauce. His was excellent, but mine came without the protein. Because the waitress was so new, she didn't come and check on us for 15 - 20 mins, so I picked at mine until she came. When she did come she left me with my dish instead of taking it back to the kitchen to be re-prepared with the meat. 15 to 20 mins later my protein came, after my dish was cold and my boyfriend had already basically finished his plate. I will add that our glasses for both water and drinks stayed empty and uncleared on the table throughout the entire night... again new waitress.

We ordered the carnival doughnuts for dessert, which came fresh out the deep frier. The waitress neglected to give us napkins or utensils for the dessert... so we ate it with our fingers as she disappeared again....

I really wanted to like Sammy J's. I think they have a variety on their menu and the prices match that of Cactus Club, but the service isn't there. No manager was contacted with regards to my food, no apology. She took the protein off my bill but for almost a $70.00 bill at the end of the night, both my boyfriend and thought we should have stayed home and made our own dinner, at least we would have eaten together. I emailed Sammy J's about my lack luster experience and have yet to receive a response from them. All I can say is the decor is there, the food is there but they need to kick up their service and polish a bit to be in the same ranks as Cactus, Earls and Joeys.

Great lunch menu here with great prices and quality food. It's not so much the taste as the consistantly good food. If you like western style Chinese the Dragon at lunch is your place. Large portions and good take out as well. There is a decent selection of combination lunchs as well as items on rice like currey chicken. The servers are always friendly and I like to tip them because you already saved money on the meal.My lunch spot when in Langley

There food looks fresh, but saying Awesome food? nope, I still go there once in a while with my family only because I am at Langley, but there are better choices out there for Chinese food.

I never pay too much attention to the service since I was so busy chatting with others, but what I don't like about the food is that there is not outstanding enough for the place.

I've order chop suey, chow mein, and BBQ duck.....and more, however I didn't order the "crispy" chow mien, I order the pan fried, which is real contonese style, that the noodle is soft mainly and a bit crispy edge.

I would Not go back if I have too. If without family, I would go fork n chopstix, however, that place is not that ambiance if thats the one of your concern

Absolutely great service! Awesome food, perfectly made drinks and top notch service by the most GORGEOUS, friendly, outgoing waitresses I have ever seen! The ambiance is fantastic, solid tables and chairs, blinds drawn on a very bright sunny day helped the other patrons enjoy their experience at this very nice pub. The place was packed and that was at lunch time! The bathroom was neat and very clean. I will definately be back many times to this pub and my friends have agreed to make this our meeting place from now on. Highly recommended! 5 ***** job well done!

We liked the atmosphere with lots of people and action all around. The servers were efficient, pleasant and attractive. But it seems many of these clone like places are fashioned after each other because, if it works, why change it. Attractive girls in short skirts. What's not to like? The food for one and the prices. $15 for a hamburger that was just not good. Greasy onion rings. I actually couldn't eat them and I eat anything. A tiny but pretty good sandwich. Yam fries and caesar salad were ok. Three people for lunch. Two cocktails, one appie, 2 burgers and a sandwich for a total of $92 all in. Merely passable food for that kind of money, no matter the pleasant surroundings, is not conducive to a return visit. Given the crowd though, I don't think they'll miss us.

It's a diner! It's a great diner!

I have to admit, I had my doubts. Looks like a slightly run down little place on the edge of the highway, kind of in the middle of nowhere. But hey, what's life without a little adventure?

We went in. Pleasant surprise, everything looked neat and clean and well taken care of. "Greasy" diner it's not! We were greeted and seated quickly enough. Service is good, but they're not professionals, that's to be sure. But hey, it's a diner!

The menu seems quite subtantial, but it is chock full of a few old diner standbys, burgers, sandwiches and the like. So like any good explorers, we went big. A sampling of the sandwiches, a roast turkey (dark meat!) meal, one of the mountain burgers (I think it was the 2nd biggest, not the Everest burger as the No.#2 actually looked more interesting). Milkshaes. Yeah. That burger? Man, packed with everything you could think of, burger patties, fried egg, sausage, breakfast patty. Yummmm! Piled super high. But you know what? It was damned good! Everything in harmony. Ditto for the other stuff. The turkey meal was just okay, acceptable quality.

After we polished off everything, we had a go at some of their own pie. Dang that's good stuff! So good, we took a whole pie home to try.

Lovely, lovely place. I dunno, if you're a diner food fanatic, awesome place to go, totally worth it. Maybe just for the pies alone. However, it's hard to tell someone any diner is worth the trip out there. Regardless, highly recommended. If you happen to be passing by or have nothing to do, definitely worth the trip. Very good stuff here. The whole package? I might say this is the best diner I've ever been to, by far.

Breakfast at 10am on a Sunday. The place was really busy. Outdoor was warm and nice for the season. Decor is dated. BUT, the muffin they served was so hard inside that it could have been used as a baseball! Good budget cosncious place though.. Buffet style and express service means you can be in and out fast.

Consistently good food from Chop Chop Chinese Takeout.

Submitted Tuesday, November 8, 2011 - 6:43pm [Take-out]

My husband and I order take out from Chop Chop on a regular basis. The food has always been well cooked, hot upon delivery, and very good.

We especially enjoy the free dish offer once the order reaches $25. Although that has never been offered to us while placing the order, we read about it on the menu and always remember to tell them what dish we have will have free from the options; it is always chicken chow mein.

I would recommend everyone try Chop Chop at least once.

I'm giving a rating of 5 stars. 5 stars for the well cooked food, food that is piping hot upon delivery, food that is delicious every time, and we appreciate the free dish!

And it wasn't funny.

I paid over $10.50 for a gross meal and a pop. I want my money and my time back. Plus I want to throw up and try a better meal.

I got less thana cup of white steamed rice afew stir fried bean spouts, 1 mini piece of broccoli and 5 shrimp with a gross sauce. I could have eaten at a real Japanese restaurant for that. It was nasty. Do not go there ever for any reason. That's all I have to say about that.

We went here for dessert, they have so many cupcakes to choose from. I felt like a kid in a candy store. My favorite is chocoholic, the girl behind the counter was really nice she accepted my 2 for 1 coupon without no problem. I had the root beer cupcake, a cheesecake one. Next time I wanna try the tiger ice cream cupcake. I will be back! The place reminded me of that tv show where they make such beautiful cupcakes. One normal sized cupcake is $3.30 with tax but totally worth it.

This is exactly the kind of place you think of when you think of an old fashioned diner. Parking lot full, Every table taken, save one just being cleared, perfect timing. Nice small menu of breakfast, sandwiches, burgers. Prompt, friendly service, and delicious soup, bbq bacon cheeseburger, chicken burger, onion rings, and shoestring fries. All around very nice. If the portions weren't so big we would have had room for pie afterwards. Next time.

Went to Montana's for the first time on Friday night and had a positive experience all the way around. We arrived early-ish, around 5:30 and did not have to wait for table, but by 6:00 the restaurant was completely full. While there was a bit of a wait towards the end of the meal (when the most diners were there) for our server, the staff seemed energetic and friendly.

The menu had a lot of food that I want to try at some point. I'm a meat and potatoes type of person, so this was right up my alley. My husband and I tried the Portabello Steak and it was great. Big portions for a reasonable price, our meals came out to just over $25 per person (no dessert).

If you are looking for quiet/romatic/adult-oriented dining, this might night be the place for you.The restaurant got pretty loud as it filled up, and there were a number of young families there, so it's a bonus for those with kids.

True Mexican Food

I went to Viva Mexico on the recommendation of my brother. As a university student he goes where the food is good, plentiful and cheap. As a frequent visitor of Mexico and lover of Mexican food, I have found it very hard to find a real authentic Mexican restaurant in the lower mainland. I do not have to look any further. The ambiance was fun, the food was fresh and the service, well it was like being in Mexico, slow but friendly. The food took a while to get to our table, but it was WELL worth the wait. I will certainly be making Viva Mexico one of my frequent haunts.

Travel to Mexico a couple times a year, so we have been looking for a place with great Mexican food around where we live! This place has the right atmosphere, great authentic Mexican style food and good prices. The staff were friendly, a little slow for service, but I guess that makes it even more authentic, since the Mexican style is laid back! We will definatly be returning to this restaraunt! Best Mexican food around! Would highly recommend, as long as you don't mind the service being a little slow.

I went on a Monday my partner and I decided to check this place out because we had the 2 for 1 entertainment coupon, once arriving there at 6pm we were seated right away, our server was really nice and attentive. I guess it's better to go on a week night. I was kinda scared to go after reading such bad reviews for all 3 locations but after my experience I can only say good things. I am a vegetarian and they had so many vegetables there I loaded my bowl with bean sprouts, water chestnuts, bamboo, bok choy, baby corn, beans, carrots, celery, chick peas, scallions, red onions, tofu, thin noodles, and my partner had the meat bowl, his total was $11 and my bowl was full and it only cost around $14 I tried the garlic sauce on my bowl which the chef grilled. My partner wants to try the bison next time we go there and I will not load up on the noodles instead i will try different sauces, and but more tofu and beans in. Because they give you free soup, a choice of brown or white rice and wraps that's alot of carbs right there, I couldn't even finish the rice I took it home. The corn chowder is better than the sweet and spicy soup because my partner had a coughing fit after one sip of that. Next time we will both opt for corn chowder, brown rice and more meat for him and more vegetable protein for me. At the end of our me they gave us fortune cookies, I didn't know they had fortune cookies in Mongolia and they even serve Miso Soup which is more of a Japanese dish than Mongolian.I left happy and full and even had leftovers for the next day so I will be back.

Everything I wanted in a Donair!
By G-Shumway of Langley (19 Reviews)
Submitted Tuesday, October 25, 2011 - 1:52pm [Take-out]

I tried Donair Hut today because I read the good reviews and wanted to try it out myself.
My order was prepared quickly by a friendly lady, and within 5 minutes I was on my way. Despite not being able to sit down to my meal for about another 30 minutes, this was still the best donair I've EVER had, I can only imagine what it would be like if I had it fresh out of the kitchen. Yummm!

I ordered the Beef Arabic Donair, that plus a drink came in under $10. The meat was juicy and full of flavor, the pita was soft (not leathery like some can be), veggies were fresh and the sauce and herbs were just spot on. You can really tell that a lot of care has been taken into making the recipe just right. There weren't any overpowering ingredients, and nothing was skimped on either; just a perfect balance of great flavors and textures.

Filling. Delicious. Well-priced. Go get one!

Have been a regular at Dots now for many years. Usually for breakfast but my craving for their patty melts and burgers creep into my psyche on occasion.Their shredded hash browns (shredded by hand daily on some cool hand held device brought from their home) are hot ,crispy, and fresh every time.
Eggs are always done perfectly. Tracy runs the front and her husband Vince looks after the cooking. Both are very friendly and excellent at what they do. As costs increase from all sides, their menu has been constant. I have told them they should charge more but they are not greedy and probably don't want to hurt the seniors that value their scratch cooking. Tuna sandwich and soups are always amazing. If you like home made, tasty food, Dots is the place.
