There is a romantic feel from the moment you walk in, with strings of little lights and a Tuscan decor. Absolutely outstanding service, offered a wine tasting as soon as you sit down, and unlimited bread sticks/soup/salad with every entree!
A couple of times we have ordered the trio appetizer platter, which we have stopped getting because nearly all of the options are deep fried and come out a little dry. The ziti four-cheese pasta is delicious! Italian sodas are a nice treat to have in lieu of dessert. Also very nice to see the managers walking around and interacting with the tables. They charm us every time. I am sure we will be back many more times.
I have walked by this unassuming little diner dozens of times. A recent craving for a BLT took me inside. The menu was hanging on the window and the value alone looked phenomenal - at least1/3 less in price than a larger local resto. Inside was big, clean with well spaced tables and friendly employees. And obviously happy customers - with many an empty plate to be seen. The servers were calling some diners by name so apparently they have a good 'regular' base.
Back to the BLT...I chose it on white with fries and gravy. The white wasn't some pathetic little flimsy cheap-o bread, it was dense, perfectly toasted and held together the insides nicely (I've had sandwiches fall apart elsewhere on bargain bread). The fries were hot (likely not hand-cut, but tasty and crisp nonetheless!) and the gravy salty, but yummy. There could have been a little more bacon on it, but for $5.25 (a little extra for the gravy) i thought it very fair. It filled my craving beautifully (i'm not much of a meateater, so when i DO crave it - usually in bacon form - i don't want to go away disappointed. I went away happy, my wallet not so much lighter. I plan to go back for breakfast to see if it lives up to my first visit.
I recently moved from Kitsilano to Fort Langley and have since made it my goal to try each of the restaurants in town. Beatniks Bistro is by far my favorite spot. The food is absolutely incredible - last week I had their featured pan seared fresh Halibut with a home made mango salsa - and let me tell you, it's a wonderful treat to be able to eat healthy and delicious food when dining out. I can tell that the chefs at Beatniks take pride in their work and to me, that is the mark of an up and coming restaurant. Look out Fort Langley!
As for the service and the ambiance, I have nothing but positive feedback. Our server, Stefani, was not only attentive and efficient, but she genuinely seemed to care about getting to know us by talking to us all about our recent move and her favorite things about the area. And to me, it is the incredible food and the engaging service that sets Beatniks apart from the other local restaurants.
Of course I could try to find areas for improvement, but that is a reality in any business. All I would say is that Beatniks is a "must try." They have something for everyone - affordable lunches, friendly service, a quaint family story, cocktails, wine, espresso, hand crafted desserts. And for me, the fresh food and service has made my transition into Fort Langley much smoother and I'm definitely looking forward to their patio season.
After the last review I read this is a justified post! My and my husband had the EXACT same experience - 1 hour wait, stone cold food. Was not going to write about it, as I know how critical reviews can be towards restaurants, but I worked as a GM for quite a few years - could tell the waitresses were trying their best to accomadate, running around like crazy, and when I asked to speak to the GM, our (clearly frustrated) waitress mentioned "they don't really have a manager". Haha, what a joke! How can you run a business like this?
The shocking thing is me and my husband came in September and had an amazing experience. It really was a 180. Our server, a blonde girl name Chantel, was friendly and professional. The chef, Jeffy, gave us some samples of the upcoming features on the menu, and mentioned how everythign was sourced locally and made in house. For all the earls and cactus's out there this felt fresh.
So now it seems there is no chef and no manager there. How very sad to see such potential be flushed downt he toilet! Best of luck in the future.
The staff are the greatest, the food is good, the ambience of the pub is the nicest that I've been in. I don't usually like pubs but I feel comfortable even going in by myself. This is OUR pub and absolutely love the friends we've met there. The service is very good and recommend it to other people. They have meat draws and dollar draws that we've won many times. Join us and have fun!
Only one review for this IHOP? Hmm. Anyway, went to the Langley IHOP one evening as Fox and Fiddle was completely packed. Treated to a delicious meal for 3 people, very good price, quality of food excellent. Son had something similar to a Grand Slam plus Apple Pancakes, all for $5.99. Deal-i-o!!
I first learned of the NY Grill through a networking group that uses their private room in the rear of the restaurant. I was so impressed with not only the generous portions of excellent food, but the service as well. As a former restaurant owner, I know what it takes to hire, train and keep great staff, and the owners here must have that knack, as the staff are friendly, knowledgable and attentive. I have become quite the regular at the NY Grill, a compiement to them as there are a lot of restaurants to choose from in the Langley area.
The worst made chicken ever. Once a year I have to try it, just in case they decided to go back to the original recipe and in the last 6 years it has been the same thing time after time. They over cook it slowly so it gets all greasy and over cooked which makes it inedible chicken. Once in a blue moon when it is not too greasy then it is so dry it's like eat cardboard. A couple of years ago I bought 2 dinners that were inedible and I called and they would not return my money but would replace the dinners. I called head office hoping they would maybe inquire about the quality going down hill but they were not interested. The people here really don't have a clue how to cook it. About 4 months ago I tied it once again. This time was a bit better but not much. Where's the batter on the chicken? and why does it always have to taste like dirty oil? I make far better chicken at home. It just too bad because I really really like KFC the way it use to be. Seriously I don't know how they stay in business. I don't walk I run away from KFC!!
I Love their pork ribs. Sorry I have not tried the beef ones but they looked real good from a distance:) Yes they are a little pricey but so are good spareribs by the pound. Believe me you will not be saying where's meat. It is so Delicious. I don't know how other people can eat a dessert after eat one one these rib meals... Oh one thing they asked me what I wanted with the meal and one of the choices were beans. I was thinking green beans so I ordered the beans. Well they turned out to be chili beans :) and not very good ones at that. Live and Learn. Most definitely the best place for ribs!! mm.... mm.... Just talking about it... I think we'll go there for dinner tonight :)
I ate here March 28/12. I had 2 different rolls; avacado and real crab, and an ebi sunomono salad.
Everything was fresh and tated delicious. I was served tea, and it was topped up a few times while I ate.
The server was very polite and attentive. Ambiance was good, soft music and not too loud.
Very nice meal, I would return when in Langley.
I went to this restaurant because the reviews on urban spoon were great. Im not sure if there are new owners but the service was terrible. I am very patient with restaurant service as I am aware sometimes people forget and get busy, but at this restaurant I left furious. We were the only group there which is a bad sign anyhow. It took 20 min after we sat to get tea and all together dinner took almost three hours. It was awful! Ordering was a nightmare. We had to go and find the waitress to get anything. The food when it did arrive was very good but the waiting was horrible and we definitely would never go back. This is my first bad restaurant review and the slowest service I have ever received locally.
Love this restaurant. We take the kids, go with large groups, or come here on date nights. The food is always great. The sushi is delish, and I think the prices are awesome because you get so much food! Come hungry and dont judge the restaurant by the outer appearance. And the people that said it was bad food probably dont like tepan grill style restaurants because I have eaten at allot of them and this one is very good.
We went here when a large group of about 30 people had just sat down. We must have waited 45 minutes for our food which was pretty bad and they said it was because they were so busy. Our food was not even that great, one dish slightly undercooked, and the quesadilla with chicken is gross with cooked avocado in it. We were also seated right by the place where they bang dishes and cutlery so it was beyond loud and annoying. Very dissapointing.
For you who havent tried this yet.. please try it. It is out of my way but I was in Langley visiting someone. so we headed down. Its basically a casserole type western joint. Try the fried battered chicken cutlet on top of egg fried rice, with Cream sauce and cheese and onions. I think this is the main reason locals go to Artful Dodger.
Since then I felt I should be back there 2 times a day LOL. We came between 5-6pm oand a draft was $6.50 for a large portion. Small is $5.50 but it is still big! Add 50 cents if u want nuts in a jar..
This is my go-to place when I've had no time to make my own lunch for work. They have 2 sizes of pita 9'' and my fave 6''. If you've a good appetite the 9'' is what you'll want, but it's too much for me to eat. Lots of great fillings to choose from, always fresh. And healthy! All their dressings/spreads are low-fat and tasty. Choose your pita from the board or create your own...and vegetarian friendly too! The meats run the gamut of chicken, beef, bacon, ham, philly cheese steak and a recent special was pulled pork. They cook the meat on a grill in front of you and add any topping to the grill you'd like.
On days i'm in a salad mood they make a great salad...you choose all your ingredients.
Prices are fair too. For a 6'' ham for instance i never pay over $5.50, unless i add a bag of chips (Miss Vickie's, SunChips or Baked Lays and a drink). They have combo specials too...
The people who work here are super friendly, always remember me and make a great pita.
My husband and I took my elderly parents there for a late lunch recently. We were pleasantly surprised at the updated look and feel of the restaurant, the menu, and the service! We were greeted by the hostess who opened the door for us when she saw us approaching. We were seated promptly and our server attended to us within seconds of being seated. The varied menu appealed to all in our group. Every item ordered was great and enjoyed by all! Our server was dressed beautifully and carried herself in a professional manner not usually seen in restaurants these days. The food, service and ambiance were all superb, and we plan to dine at this location of Earl's many times in the future.
This restaurant is an all time favorite in my family. I was appalled by the negative comments on here, Ocean Park deserves a higher rating!
The food is always very good (I have no clue why someone would say it is greasy..?), and the prices are satisfactory. There is a vast selection of Greek food, but I always choose the 'classic' baked lasagna or pizza.
When we order in, the delivery is fast and the food is nice and hot. (Can't say that about some pizza places.)
Ocean Park just got new menus, an updated interior and an expansion to the restaurant itself! I always expect to have a great time when going to this restaurant. Especially if you see Leo! Leo, the manager, is a great guy. He has he given us free lamb and drinks many times!
If you are hungry and live nearby to Ocean Park, you honestly can't go wrong.
My husband and I decided to try this restaurant as we had a 2 for one coupon. We showed the it to the server right away, and she didn't seem to have had one before, but she took it. They didn't have my wine, so I ordered something else. My husband ordered a ginger ale, with not much ice. When it came, it was 2/3's full of ice, and they had the nerve to charge us $3.75 for it. My dinner said on the menu that it came with seasonal vegetables. I had ordered the chicken with mushrooms, and asked for the mashed potatoes instead of the pasta. The server had to go and ask the manager about that, anyway, he said it was OK. When my dinner came, it had one side of a very small chicken breast, garlic bread, a few mushrooms and potatoes. No vegetables, so I told the server that it was supposed to come with vegetables and she tried to say that the mushrooms were the vegetables. She did go and get some carrots and peppers. Now this meal was priced at $14.95, I know we had a coupon, but how would I know if it would be different if I paid full price. Also, my meal had no sauce on it, so I asked for a little gravy, after about 10 minutes the server did bring a nice cheesy sauce. The whole time we were there, we felt uncomfortable, we felt like the coupon was a problem. We go out all the time, so we do spend money at restaurants. We use coupons sometimes, and if we like the restaurant, we will go back over and over without coupons. My husband's meal was pretty good, but given our experience I doubt we will be back. In my opinion, they need to lower their prices, and get more "pub food" in there, and they would probably get more customers in the door. I would say for the manager to go to the Guildford Station Pub and see what they are doing right. The atmosphere there is really good, and they are always busy.
This is a fantastic little Thai restaurant in downtown Langley. The place is nicely decorated, and the servers are warm and friendly. My wife and I have are regulars diners and have tried several of the dishes on the menu (and have always been very satisfied). Some of our favorites include: Papaya Pok Pok salad, red curry pork, pad thai, and the BBQ duck with lychee. The prices reflect the taste and quality of the food: a dinner for two with appy and 3 main dishes costs about $50. For best value, try the 9$ lunch special which includes an appy, salad, main dish, rice and dessert. I'm getting hungry just thinking of the wonderful smells and tastes of this gem in Langley!
I've been here a few times. When I am meeting a fine lady this place suits us fine when in Langley. We also get take out and order steak with salads and appies. Super yummy!!
I ate in once over the lunch hour too and it was Saturday. Tried on of their lunch specials which was not bad at all. The cone fish was delicious and very reasonably priced! The girls are a joy to watch. They know how to have you coming back.
I definitely recommend this place for lunch or dinner if you are in the Langley area.
