If this is the future of 'fast-food' I'm eating!

Tried this place after driving by and seeing their terrific sign go up recently.
I love shawarmas and have been trying to find a really good one here in Canada since my time spent living in the Middle East. This place is immediately surprising upon entering in the fact that it looks like it is straight out of Western Europe. Very modern and clean. Their food is made fresh daily and it shows. Falafels here are as they should be, crispy on the outside and melt in your mouth. I can honestly say I have never eaten a better shawarma (and I have tried many of the places here locally and in Vancouver). Their chicken is incredible, and they don't drown it in sauce. I can't remember the last time I received 4-star sit-down service in a quick-serve fast-food restaurant, if ever. Their staff here are wonderful and very well trained in customer service. I have been back weekly to sample their interesting vegan options as well. Best part might be that I get change from a $10 bill with a drink and dessert added and their portions are huge. Have found my new favourite local restaurant! Yum. Thank-you Holy Falafel!

Went on a sunday afternoon and the food was not good. Our waiter was good, friendly and helpful so gave him a solid rating. I had the steak sandwich, very skinny, asked for rare and got hockey puck. My wife had broccoli soup, and it tasted like flour. we wont be back

I have been to WOKing 4 or 5 times now. It is one amazing little restaurant. I can honestly say its the best chinese food I have had in my life! Chinese food experiences are usually average for me but WOKing's food is very very fresh. Nothing was overcooked, the noodles were perfect, the rice was great. Its very obvious that the food is made to order and not pulled from some pot thats been simmering for a few hours. They are a new restaurant thats not super busy yet so it will be very interesting to see if they can keep this quality up when the word gets out. They did however fall prey to my pet peeve on a couple visits, all restaurant owners, please hear this, warm your plates! WOKing's prices are very cheap, Its not fancy, but it is very clean..

Nice Lunch

The chicken was nicely seasoned and not over cooked. The restaurant is decorated with nik naks
relevant to Mexico, lots of color and great selection evident. I usually eat lunch by myself so its
nice to see that management provides current clean newspapers for those that wish to relax
and read. I will never return to any restaurant that does not have this option. I would recommend
Del Pollo as a nice place to go for any casual date. The prices are great. Unfortunately I have
one complaint that I find to be very common but easy to fix. The entree was put on a very cold
plate, it didnt take long for the meal to cool down.

Good new addition to fast food

I think this place has aspirations to be a chain. Only one location now. Loved the interior decor for a fast food place and the LCD menu board. Menu board has pictured of everything which is great for selection and to help those who are unfamiliar with the food. Lots fo vegetarian and vegan options.

I am a bit of a falafel snob. I ordered one here. The balls were in a holding pan in the food area. They were prefried and I did not see if they reheated them or if they were just hot. However, they were not very crispy - hot and crispy, freshly fried is the only real way to go. Plus the balls were way too big in my opinion. Perhaps they will consider this. Maybe they could offer the option of fresh fried if you are willing to wait.

The pita is regular run of the mill flat pita - cannot remember if i was offered a choice. Then they put on some sauces, hot sauce, lettuce, tomato. It comes with tabbouleh but i don't like it so I added onions. There ws was no offer of feta cheese - I like cheese. They then put on some weird purple pickled turnip which I know is traditional, but I don't like it and don't think it adds anything.

Anywas the pita ended up being very filling and pretty good and tasty. And it was less than $6. All in all a good deal. I would come back if in the area. But right now no one beats the falafel place in Brentwood mall for falafel balls done right!!

Gary is an excellent Chef and host and has put together an amazing buffet . The buffet items were mild in heat ,but HUGE in flavours .This Langley eatery is spotless and very tastefully decorated .

The price for the lunch time buffet was $10.95 and included 10 hot entres and 10 salads, fruit plates, chutney, yogurt dish and sweets .

Our hostess Maha brought to our table freshly cooked, out of the kitchen, Tandorri Chicken ,then placed the balance onto the buffet table Nice touch Maha ! We where never out of fresh baked Nann and iced water .

This a new restaurant in LANGLEY and will be a hit ! We will be back to try their evening menu as Gary stated
the menu is quite different .

I have to say their PNann {bread ] is the best South Asian bread that I have ever eaten .

This hidden gem will soon be on everyone's must try list.

A Pleasant Surprise in Langley
By G-Shumway of Langley (19 Reviews)
Submitted Tuesday, May 29, 2012 - 10:02am [Take-out]

Went to Estrella's for the first time the other day. I tried the classic smoked meat sandwich, and was VERY happy. I've tried some other places in Vancouver (kosher delis, etc) and hands down, Estrellas is the best. Surprised? I am too. The meat was juicy and tender (no chewy/fatty bits), and the fries were pretty good too. I did take out, the deli is pretty small so if you want a seat you'll want to get there early to beat the lunch rush.
Prices are very reasonable, I'll be going back to try some of the paninis very soon.

We have been here several times over the last couple of years & have enjoyed good food & good service every time. There are fancier East Indian Restaurants, there are bigger ones, but this suits me fine. It's home cooking south Asian style. It's also nice to eat on Fraser Hwy & walk up & down. Relaxed & informal. Keep it up.

My wife and I ordered 2 Legendary Burgers with 2 poutines. There were no customers but us, yet both of our burgers arrived with barely any heat in them!! How can they serve us cold food when there are no other people or orders??? They obviously gave us some burgers that were sitting there for a while, they definitely were not made fresh off the grill for us!
The meat was not juicy and fresh, but tough and dry, and the fries in the poutines didn't look fresh and tasted old and greasy. Just terrible value for $24. We will never attend this restaurant again!!!!

Thai at it's best

I think the last reviewer Amythist is crazy. This excellent Thai restaurant is NOT expensive. It's more reasonably priced than most Thai (usually actually Chinese masquerading as Thai) restaurants. The woman that runs it is actually from Thailand, as are her staff. They use authentic Thai ingredients such as Keffir lime leaves, tamarind, lemongrass, thai basil, Asian eggplant...etc.... something you don't find very often in Thai restaurants. The portions are very generous. I really don't understand how anyone can say that they aren't. Just look at the pictures of their dishes on this website (dinehere.ca). I have tried every Thai restaurant in Vancouver and the lower mainland and this is the most authentic Thai restaurant I've discovered. I drive from White Rock several times a week just to pick up food from them. The restaurant is very clean and has a nice modern feel to it. The food is beautifully presented and is delicious...... seriously! I think the best part is the service though. The waitresses are all very hard working and are so very nice. Parking is not at all a nightmare since there is a huge parking lot (free) right across the street where the Army and Navy and IGA are located.

I liked the food, but was shocked by how much everything cost and on some dishes how little you got. Parking was a nightmare. Service was fair the washrooms were clean but for the price I could have gone to a really nice restraunt. We wont be going back. Which is a shame because authentic food in langley is nice.

I venture into Fort Langley quite often, and when I do I almost always make time to eat here. The location is great, and they have an amazing front patio, perfect for people watching! The food and service are always top notch, and it has always been that way for me and trust me,I have been there alot! They have alot of diverse dishes to offer, but might I recommend the Sole Almondine, its my personal favourite. I love this place, and recommend everyone go at least once. Especially now that the weather is getting warmer and with summer right around the corner, it will be the place to be in Fort Langely by far! Don't miss out!

Very disappointing
By carol.bellavance of Langley (1 Review)
Submitted Tuesday, May 8, 2012 - 2:28pm [Dine in]

My daughter and I went to Kalma restaurant for lunch today as we had a $6.00 value coupon and had heard good things about the place.
We arrived at 11:40am and were sat by the window which was great. We ordered within minutes of our arrival. For her: a breakfast composed of eggs sunny side up and sausages with white toast. For me the soup of the day with a tossed salad.
Our coffees were served at once which was nice, but we had to wait 45 minutes for our food to arrive. Yet we saw customers coming after us and they got served within a reasonable time with big plates of food.
We asked for water, two glasses arrived 10 minutes later, we did not touch them.
The ambiance was nice, lots of customers arrived for lunch.
Our food arrived but it was not what we expected. My daughter's plate the eggs were almost raw, the yolk appeared uncooked and the whites were clear and runny, the sausage was cold and when she cut it, it appeared raw, being pregnant she did not want to take any chance and ate only the toasts, she got up to tell the server, as no one came to inquire if the food was to our taste and was told that they could re-make the plate if she wishes, but we were not willing to wait another 45 minutes
My food was not much better, while the salad was fine, the soup consist of plain chicken broth and boiled onions with a couple of carrot slices. I left it after trying a few spoons of it as it lacked in taste.
The server was not particularly friendly or caring, she did not know what the soup of the day was and did not know either if hash-browns came with the plate of eggs.
At the cash register we found out that we had to pay $18.84 in spite of the poor food and the coupon. My plate was listed at $7.59 and hers at $8.99. The server/cashier finally took off $3.00 as a favor from the total but as a result refused to honor the coupon.
We paid and left but we felt terribly disappointed from the experience and we will never go back there.

Had to try An Indian Affair this past weekend - the craving hit and the restaurant was new and intriguing. From the first dish to the last we were blown away. Tawa mushrooms, Kadai Subz, Peas Pulao, Peshwari Naan and Garlic/Basil Naan...first rate! The raita was fresh, cooling and just the right spices. Papadums to start was a nice touch, crisp, not greasy in the least, they only whet our appetite....so when dinner came (see above), the conversation almost stopped. We were delighted!
An Indian Affair has a nice, if small wine list. Though I think it's enough. Nicely selected. Domestic and Indian Beers, Chai, Ras Malai, an assortment of sodas and a nice looking Mango Lemonade on their beverage list. If you can manage it, the Kheer (rice pudding) is divine! A small portion - which is just right after a meal. Refreshing and light.
I can't wait to go back and try the Samosa's, the kachumber salad, a biryani and some of the other breads Gary offers on his menu, amongst other dishes; I'm guessing I'll become a regular here.
You'll look hard to find nicer people than Gary and his wife Anu...they're genuine and their love of people and feeding them well shines through in all aspects of this restaurant. So glad we came in here...

Last night ,I just happened to go with a couple of friends and check out this new place on Willowbrook Drive and I HAD TO write a review about this place.I have eaten indian food on several occaisons before but this place totaly was an experience to write home about!!! Not only was the food to die for ,but the service was outstanding! The server was extremely friendly and knowledgeable and got us to try some new stuff. For starters, we ordered the kebab affair and Tandoori Halibut. Both appetisers were very delectable and flavourful.
Im a big seafood fan and I must admit that though I've tried fish at other indian restaurants, the Halibut here was something else! AMAZING!!For main course,we ordered the baby eggplant dish{YUM YUM} with Chicken Chettinad {WOW}and Anaari Gosht.ALL DISHES were awesome. The most fabulous thing was the amazing new flavours, unlike the routine fare offered by most other indian restaurants. Each dish had a new flavour ...an absolute treat for the palate! Im going to be eating here a LOT!!!!
