My family has always celebrated birthdays, anniversaries here. It was when I tried a Shirley Temple(virgin) and it was the highlight of my time there. Now I am older and love to go there with my Fiance. we always have amazing service and food is always good. We are not wealthy so this place is perfect for an upgraded dining experience on a budget. Speaking of which we finally get to go there again for a quiet night out..no kids though lol.
This is place has a special place in my heart.
This is a long-standing restaurant that serves a strongly loyal clientele. It is not pretentious or trendy, sporting a dated, mostly wood interior and furniture, and walls dotted with nondescript paintings on the walls. The menu is extensive, with wide-ranging appeal, including numerous steaks, chicken, pastas, seafood, schnitzels, and souvlakis. We ordered four different entrees: two schnitzels, a steak, and a chicken dish. Each was accompanied by a choice of potato or rice, an overcooked vegetable medley, and a very basic salad bar. There was nothing wrong with the main dishes (well, the chicken was a little dry), but none of them inspired any "wows" among us. Our main server was a little slow in getting our orders taken and returned to check on us only at long intervals, but there were other servers to fill water glasses and offer us fixings for the potatoes. Prices were very reasonable, all things considered: $14 for the chicken and the schnitzels, $17 for the steak, less than $5 for a glass of house wine.
On the whole, the experience wasn't good enough that I would drive out of my way to return, but I'd be willing to eat there again if I found myself nearby at dinnertime.
The salad bar is quite simple, but also adequate. We ordered the pepper steak stir fry and poached salmon. Both came quite quickly and were hot and delicious. The server was friendly, advised us when the food was coming, and made sure we were enjoying the meal. We found the decor to be relaxing, and liked the wall pictures. The restaurant was quite full, with clientele from babies to seniors.
When i leave a restaurant wishing i had of just had a freezer dinner, i know i'll never go back. Nothing we ordered was worth finishing. Bland Caesar Salad, ungarlicky garlic bread, mushy zuchinni sticks...i won't go on. The service was fine, if not great, but for all the raves i'd heard about Venetis, i was sorely disappointed!
This unassuming restaurant has become my favourite lunch spot when I am in Langley. The decor likely has never been updated since the 1970's but now looks pretty retro chic! The obviously long time loyal customers appear also to be the same customers from the 1970's. I discover why that is because the value here is incredible and the food very good. The seniors who make up the core of the customers know good value and good food and Venetis delivers in both categories. Indeed, the prices seem to be from 1970's as well! I highly recommend this place and my young professional friends in Langley were all impressed when we decided to go here over Earls - it is a quieter place to chat as well. The salad bar comes with the lunch specials and you will positively walk out of this place satisfied.
This has been our families favorite restaurant for fifteen years. We appreciated the booths when our children were young and now we marvel at how they can accommodate even our work parties of thirty plus.
The main reason Venetis is top choice for all of us is consistancy. No matter who we have taken, the food has always pleased. The steaks are to die for, always flavorful and tender. The chicken dishes also are really tasty and with a great variety of choice.
We've come to know the staff as freinds after all these years and as it is a family run business, it has been delightful to witness those who wiped tables as young ones grow into able and cultured hosts.
I imagine we are not alone in our experience as many patrons are greeted by their given names and a great deal of warmth.
Venetis has been a favorite restaurant of mine for a few years now.
There isn't a restaurant that can even come close in comparison in taste and cost without sacrificing quality. The menu has something for everyone, fish, seafood, beef, veal, chicken, salads and pastas. Their beef is AAA. It is melt in your mouth fantastic! You can't go wrong no matter which meat dish you chose. They have appetizer specials where you can get a $2 escargot, with your steak dinner that comes with the salad bar so your meal comes out at under $20.00. The meals come with a helping of vegetables and your choice of rice, fries (with no trans fats) or a baked potato. The salad bar is fantastic. There are so many different kinds of salads with jello and buns. I can't count how many times I've been full before my meal arrives simply because of the salad bar.
I have never had a bad experience at Venetis. Their staff is so friendly and it's a family run business which I admire and appreciate. Since I've had the pleasure of dining with Venetis for so many years I've been able to watch employees grow from clearing the tables to greeting and seating customers to waiting tables. It's been amazing to watch their development.
When you drive by the restaurant there is never any parking because it is always packed. It reminds me of the restaurants you see in mobster movies because there are no windows on the outside, (but there are a few sunlight's.) They've recently painted and the place looks great. They have a great fireplace in the center of the room that is lit in the winter and each table has the little oil burner candles on it.
All in all, it is a great family restaurant and the perfect place for a quiet first date. It is my favorite restaurant and I hope to continue going there with my growing family for a long, long time.
This is a great place to take the family or a date if your on a budget.
Make sure you order the special cuzz you get the salad bar with it.
I especially like the potato thingie on the buffet.
The coffee is excellent here.
The soda pop is free re-fills.
The Pasta needs something and im not quite sure what it is,maybe tangy sauce.
I would recommend this place over many others.
I have been here a lot and everytime i come i am never dissapointed with the food...great food and value. the people that work here are very friendly aswell...the look of the place is decent and I would definetley recommend this reataurant for families that want good food that is reasonably priced.
I am amazed that no one has done a review of this restaurant! We live in the Whalley area, yet my family has been going to Venetis for many years. If you are looking for value and good food it is exceptional! They have a list of 6 or 7 entrée specials like steak and prawns and two appetizers. The thing they have that I have not seen in other restaurants is a full blown salad bar with any entree. There are buns and butter, several different salads such as green, potato, bean, cold slaw, pickles, jello, bacon bits, sunflower seeds, croutons multiple dressings and much more. The salad bar makes the meal so enjoyable. Last time we were there we started with their two special appetizers ($2 each) escargot for me and zucchini sticks for my wife. After the salad bar and an appetizer you sometimes wonder why you ordered a meal. We both ordered the 6 oz sirloin steak and garlic prawns (5) which comes with heated butter, vegetables and baked potato, rice or fries (I think they make the best fries anywhere). We had a beer each. Salad bar, an appetizer each, steak and prawns and a beer and the bill was $45.00. The food is great, atmosphere is not chrome and mirrors yet very nice, the service is good and I know of no other restaurant that offers so much value.
