My family and I had a chance to visit on Remembrance Day. We went for lunch as my father was in town and Swiss was always his favourite place to go back East. We arrived around 1pm and could see they were quite busy. We were seated quite quickly. Our service throughout the visit was actually quite slow but we did have a manager come by our table and he explained that they were short staffed, which although disappointing, was refreshing that at least it was told to us before our meal turned into a disaster .
The food was very good and our waitress was quite friendly, even as flustered as she appeared to be.
Overall I think our lunch was pretty good, and our family had an enjoyable time. Hopefully the oversight on their staffing was a one time thing.
I dine out alone a fair amount so I really notice the little things . I was warmly greated by the manager as soon as I entered the restraunt, she offered me a newspaper and as she seated me she asked how I enjoyed the beautiful day we had . My server was at my table immediatly introduced herself and asked if I would like to start with a glass of wine or a beer and if I would like to order an appatizer before deciding on my meal. I did. I ordered this thing called a cheese loaf it was fantastic I mean like WOW ! ok so she takes the drink and appatizer order. My appitizer came out so fast then minutes after my appatizer plate was cleared my food arrived. The server made sure that my experience wad great and manager came over to me and asked me how I my chicken and vegetables were then I watched her go to all the patrons and check on them aswell . Well I I could tell you every step but I dont think i need to add any more you can probably guess the whole experience was outstanding. You see I go to the keg, earls, joeys, milestones and the sharks club they all have good service and good food but going here I found outrstanding service and food for realy half the price! amazing
I will be visiting this place allot more !
It’s unfortunate that these old reviews below are the first thing people see. I went here over the weekend with my family as I was in town for business and decided to make it a small family trip. Because we always take the kids to Swiss Chalet at home & when we travel this was the closest location to where we stayed. I’m glad I didn’t read the reviews before hand as I normally am not one to do research on a restaurant or review one for that matter, but because of the amazing service we received I just had to post a comment.
Because of the old (2009) reviews I think people may shy away from eating her, but let me tell you we had 1 of the best meals we’ve had a Swiss Chalet at the Langley location. Our server was great, made sure the kids were comfortable, and kept checking up on us too, I don’t think I saw the bottom of my drink glass..lol. The food was cooked perfectly, chicken was moist & tender…everything came out piping hot! The manager even came over and said hi to us and we started chatting and he mentioned that the place has been under new owners for the past year and a bit & he said they’ve made some great changes to the place and improved allot of what the old owners skimped out. Well to me & my family it really showed, when I’m in Langley next time ill definitely be going back here!! :-)
They have this all you can eat option, which absolutely does not worth the money.
The food is very salty and basically have nothing. You can order three things - the most salty chicken noodle soup, cheapest looking vegetable salad, and most salty bread stick. The value is very low. All you can eat?? Well, the soup alone has enough water to stuff you and left no space for anything else. Even if you have a big stomach, all you can do is to stuff it with soup, vegetable, bread and nothing else.
Service is next to poor. I only saw the waitress like three times the entire time I stayed in the restaurant. It's all you can eat - but not the kind that you can take food yourself - you have to order from the waitress. Well, if you even don't see the waitress often, how can you order often and eat all you can?
The space is kind of big but very plain.
Won't repeat.
To be honest this is very disappointed experience, and I don't usually whining.
The food is poor. The only thing they have is chicken and that's pretty much it. That's fine if they know how to prepare chicken, but obviously they don't know. The chicken is very dry and tasteless. They recently added this buffet style all you can eat thing - even worse, with this option you don't even get chicken, unless you call chicken noodle soup "chicken". The soup is poorly prepared with hardly any chicken.
The food is also very salty - salt is an easy way to fix the taste if you don't know how to cook - and that's what they did. The bread stick is very salty, maybe should just call it salt stick.
The service is absolutely poor, I would say even more poor than the food. How many times did I see the waitress, maybe four times including the initial seating and final paying. With all you can eat, if the waitress doesn't show, it simply become nothing you can eat (it's not self serve all you can eat, you have to order from the waitress, if she never shows or shows very rarely, you are screwed.)
The value is very low, this place is largely over charged.
The place is too big with not many customers sitting there. You felt cold there - with the largely empty space, the cold waitress and the tasteless food.
Nobody show ever recommend this place to any one.
I think Swiss Chalet is a decent value. I didn't have any problems with my pickup order. Actually, I just walked in and placed it and I got it fairly quickly. Service is alright, probably what you'd expect from a suburban chain. The chicken itself was fine. Fries were tasty. Salad was alright as well. Really, it was what it was supposed to be, unless you believe their commercials, then it would have been a letdown.
We ordered take out for three of us from here recently. My husband phoned in our order around 5:10 p.m. and was told to allow 15 minutes for them to fill it. Since we had to make a quick stop on the way to the restaurant, my husband told them we would pick up our order at 5:40,which is 30 minutes from the time we phoned in the order.
We showed up at the restaurant to pick up our order at 5:35, expecting our order to be almost ready. We ended up waiting about 15 minutes as they had not filled the order yet. The two teen aged girls at the take out counter were filling orders of the two customers who had come in just ahead of us. We stood there and waited while they put together our order after they served the other orders. We finally got our food around 5:50.
We live only five minutes away from the restaurant, so it didn't take us long to get home with our food. Some of the food seemed like it was had been sitting around at the restaurant for a while. The hot food in our order was either lukewarm or cold. The dry ribs (5.99) were dry both inside and out and the meat was a bit tough. Even though they are "dry ribs" they should be dry on the outside and moist on the inside. My daughter's garlic cheese bread appetizer (4.99) was so dry and hard that she wouldn't eat most of it. Of the three entrees we got, only my husband was satisfied with his order of 1/4 chicken with rice as a side (7.99). He said the chicken was average - the only thing that sets Swiss Chalet's chicken apart from the barbeque chicken you get from the supermarket is the sauce that you get from Swiss Chalet. I would rather spend the same amount of money on a whole barbeque chicken from the supermarket. My daughter had the spinach chicken salad, which was bland. The website advertised that the salad came with spinach and romaine lettuce, but the salad we got had iceberg lettuce instead of the romaine. We ended up throwing about half of the salad away. My chicken club wrap was okay, but it but was rather skimpy on the filling considering we paid 7.99 for it, and it didn't come with any side. dish (like salad). The entire meal for three came to about $41. Overall, I don't think the food was worth what we paid for it.
On my last visit to Swiss Chalet in North Vancouver. The sevice was ok but my food was not. I ordered a hot chicken sandwich which was served with huge two pieces of bread and only a bit of chicken inside . I love salt but the gravy must of come from the bottom of the pot-it was too salty and resembled jelly. I found the menu too limited. Being not one to complain, I just won't return.
