While I've not been to a Sammy's in a long time I assumed they would have at least had proper training in service..I was so so wrong. First I sit at the bar, around the steroid muscle-bound douchebags that seem to have some kind of in to the server staff, boyfriends or whatever. I try to get the attention of my so called bartender for a drink...well far too busy dealing with said roof monkeys about how much dressing they had on a salad..I finally got a beer..flat but cold. Then after asking for a food menu I was appalled on the prices in a place so much like a cactus/brown social house clone. I ordered a steak bite appetizer.. deep fried to carbon. Sent it back and didn't need another one. I was going to order the 22 dollar chicken fajita just for shits and giggles , alas my so called server was far too busy to talk to me..I guess I wasn't roided out enough for her liking. I won't be back.

What Happened?

It had been years since I had been to Sammy J Peppers. It wasn't my style and I felt uncomfortable so I never made it a regular place to eat. A good friend encouraged me to try it again and I was amazed at how they've changed for the better. The server had great food and wine knowledge which blew me away to start. The steak bites are truly addictive and our meals were cooked perfectly. The manager even delivered our meals and he seemed sincere in asking how our night was.
Looking around at the range of different ages, older couples, young families, a group of teenagers - it definitely has something for everyone - and everyone in there was smiling.
See you there!

Nice decor and the prices to match... however

My boyfriend and I went here for an anniversary dinner. We wanted something low key and casual. He picked Sammy J's because he hadn't been in a long time and I had never been period. First of all I will say the decor was nice, they had renovated in July and it was very contemporary... a little Cactus-esque. We were promptly seated in the dining area and were one of 2 other tables there. The "sports area" is sectioned off and it was packed with people. It was quiet in our area though, which was appropriate for our occasion and a Monday night.

We had a very new waitress who said that right off the bat. We ordered Blackjack strips for an appy, which the waitress should have warned us were SPICY... (my boyfriend likes spicy and even he needed some water.) She didn't take our main order until after the Blackjack strips were done. Again I'll give her the benefit of the doubt that she was new. The BF ordered a Tom Collins and I ordered a Bellini. Both were so-so... nothing exceptional. For our mains, I ordered the Kung Pao bowl with half chicken, half shrimp and the BF ordered Penne Chicken with cream sauce. His was excellent, but mine came without the protein. Because the waitress was so new, she didn't come and check on us for 15 - 20 mins, so I picked at mine until she came. When she did come she left me with my dish instead of taking it back to the kitchen to be re-prepared with the meat. 15 to 20 mins later my protein came, after my dish was cold and my boyfriend had already basically finished his plate. I will add that our glasses for both water and drinks stayed empty and uncleared on the table throughout the entire night... again new waitress.

We ordered the carnival doughnuts for dessert, which came fresh out the deep frier. The waitress neglected to give us napkins or utensils for the dessert... so we ate it with our fingers as she disappeared again....

I really wanted to like Sammy J's. I think they have a variety on their menu and the prices match that of Cactus Club, but the service isn't there. No manager was contacted with regards to my food, no apology. She took the protein off my bill but for almost a $70.00 bill at the end of the night, both my boyfriend and thought we should have stayed home and made our own dinner, at least we would have eaten together. I emailed Sammy J's about my lack luster experience and have yet to receive a response from them. All I can say is the decor is there, the food is there but they need to kick up their service and polish a bit to be in the same ranks as Cactus, Earls and Joeys.

Boring menu....it's okay if you go there once a year, but if you want to catch the Canucks game every now and then, the menu gets boring, fast. Almost everytime I order something at the Langley restaurant, the waitress screws it up....I think they're concentrating more on making sure their super-mini skirt isn't showing too much of anything!

We went to Sammy Js on a Saturday night,Great ambiance. We really had a good meal and the service was outstanding.I wish I caught the girls name and said something to the manager. She really needs to be recognised. She had black hair.My wife had the seafood fetuccini with shrimp amd scallops which she had to send back for more sauce because it was dry but was no problem. When she got it back it was amazing.I had cajun chicken which was very moist and good.I really think it is the staff that makes this place.Keep up the good work girls .

The Food Was Good But The Total Package Wasn't There

Personally, I love Sammy's food more than anything, We decided to go and treat ourselves to a great meal with my girlfriend. However I fear they are losing their edge. Thank goodness there is cactus and earls.

The service was OK; and as usual most of the food was good too. The appetizers were amazing, as was the shrimp. I had both a Skewer of shrimp. And fish for main with added spice which was accommodated.

I really loved this restaurant, and I really want to go back, although I'm quite disappointed because their waitresses (and I assume management) isnt trying any longer. They used to be very attractive and look visually appealing. What happened? Now they are dressed like its a boring mom and pop restaurant. Lets face it. We want entertainment for our dollars and they have stopped supplying it for us here. The manager was very lovely, and I hate to make anyone get in trouble, but I think you should seriously think about hiring better waitresses with some cuteness and hair.
I live 30 minutes away and come here once in a while for my date, but they still have good food just not justified for ordering drinks or coming often!

Where do I go for cold beer, great food and of course pretty ladies with some ability of having a personality, SAMMY J's in Langley!! My latest visit no different, Pay Per View Hockey game last week vs. the Coyotes. Corona's were cheap and COLD. Appies were our choice that night, and from the Blackjacks, and steak bites to the new Calamari and appetizer ribs they added, great and as said by my buddy, these are (expletive) Outstanding!! I agreed, Earls and Moxies need to get there girls to be taking care of their guests like our server did with us, or Sammys should be leaving them in the dust...going back for the rest of the playoff drive.

Go There If You Don't Care About Food

Service is not bad, but that's about it.

They hire good looking girls as servers and dress them in a sexy kinda way, I don't know if that's their selling point, but it seems they don't pay much attention to their food. I mean, it's a restaurant after all not a club, people go there to EAT, their food is very average if they're not below average. Chicken is dry and tasteless, and dessert is not fresh.

My girlfriend and I wentto Sammy J Peppers as we often do. We love going there because we always know what we are going to get. Great food and Great service. I love the newlook that they have in there. They have really upscaled the place.

I had the Cajun Seafood Sirloinand my girlfriend had the garlic seafood dinner. Both were outstanding.

Our server was very friendly and dressed very nice. She was very pleasant.

Can't wait to go again!

My family and I recently dined at the Sammy J's location in Langley, we came in with our kids unsure of if we would be accommadated or not. We were graciously welcomed kids and all. They had a kids menu which was more than reasonably priced and the kids get a free veggie starter plate once they have ordered their meal. I have a severe gluten intolerance and when I mentioned that to my server, she left briefly and then returned with a gluten free menu for me! I was astounded by the wide variety of choices that I had. The service was attentive and mindful of our children and their constant needs for napkins, drink refills and help cleaning up.
We had a great night and the kids loved their spaghetti and meatballs! We will definitely be returning soon.

Would definitley go back, the food is very good and prices were reasonable. The hottest sauce they have was the hottest i've ever had. The service was also good.Kids also liked it very much. They have quite a decent menu and something that satisfied all four of us which is hard to do because we usually all like diffrent things unless it's chinese food.

Average

Lunch time at Sammy J Pepper can be a dull affair. Perhaps its the lack of preparation or perhaps its the beginning of the day for service but upon my lunch time visit service was questionable. Where lacking we can see SJP attempt to make for as its obvious their business model is similar to that of Cactus and Earls. Employ decent looking waitresses and dress them scantly. Food on the other hand was average. The menu similar to other establishments however preparation and presentation arise questions of the experience level in the kitchen as it lacked that professional difference. The restaurant environment is nostalgic, plenty to visualize. Overall SJP is typical bar and grill. Don't expect more unless your aiming high.

I was meeting my lady girl and we decided here. I like the chain. The menus contains pasta, meat and even some ethnic options. The wine rack is well stocked and spirits are high amid the very classy establishment.
But I have a beef with this restaurant. At most Sammys used to have waitstaff that are good looking young ladies with hair down their backs but over here the dresses were very conservatives and frankly boring, yes boring. Don't know why expect maybe because it's the suburbs. Less fun here.
The steak was still genuine and the potatoe was good but because of that wouldn't place an order of drinks.

My boy friend and I went there for dinner for the first and last time.We had a fifty dollar gift card and had to drive to Langly because the one in Abbotsford closed down, my guess would be the poor food presentation my food was over done and my boy friends was the same and in such small portioning to break it down we spent fifty dollars and in return I get a hand full of over cooked fries or the oil was old dirty fryer oil the BBQ chicken club souned appetizing I was satisfied with that part of the meal my boy friend ordered a mango chicken spinach sandwich and it was the small ends of the loaf and they wher burnt black on bothe sides if the bread is burnt don't serve it make more it's not rocket science the chicken was burnt on his sandwich and he ordered cesar salad it was like garnish it was that small so nothing was worth righting home about and we had a ceasar even that was so hot they put way to much tabascoo sauce in it yuk that's all I have to say thank for listening.
