Ricky's is a family friendly spot offering a varied menu of casual classics for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
I went with friends to Ricky's, when we all wanted to have burgers. We had a variety from Bacon & Cheese, Mushroom and mine was cheese burger. We all commented the burgers and each of us, thought the burgers lack flavour. I found my burger on the dry side and on the salty side. The fries didn't seem to have alot of flavour and not very hot, when they came out. The food was just okay, it filled us up, but all of us weren't impressed with the lack of flavour.
Our server was attentive, friendly and did spot check throughout our meals. I thought she made a difference and gave her points for being helpful.
I only wish the food was better.
Last night I ordered the Chicken Souvlaki at this restaurant, I actually was shocked that they sent this out of the kitchen. I ordered 1 skewer, and there was 4 small pieces in the middle of the stick, of what I think was thigh meat. It didn't look like it was grilled, it looked a little raw. The vegetables looked dried out and sad, and the rice pilaf was cold and was just rice. Even our server said she didn't blame me for sending it back. For around $11 it was not good. My husband had a breakfast bowl and it was just OK. I think they have renovated recently, but that's no good if the food quality is below par. The owner might want to actually go to a greek restaurant, to check out his competition, or take this pathetic dish off the menu. To be fair to this restaurant, we ate there before and had the mozza chicken burger, and it wasn't too bad. I know times are tough, but the better the food, the more repeat business you get. I think they are staying open because of their breakfast business, it's pretty hard to screw up bacon, eggs, and pancakes. They should put questionaires on the tables for a while, because most people won't be honest when the server ask's "How is everything" I don't think at this point we will go back.
A few days ago we stopped here for breakfast. What a mistake. We stood at the front counter for about twenty minutes and no one acknowledged us. I commented that if we were not seen to in short order that we were leaving. We were finally seated and the wait started all over again. It took a tad over an hour to get our food onto the table from the time we walked in the door.
There was a large breakfast meeting in an adjoining room but I can't see how that would impact the restaurant as that meeting would have been preplanned giving the restaurant ample chance to bring in extra wait staff.
I noticed a lot of business people meeting customers and other work mates. Interesting to note that a few days later while attending another chain down the street that those same business people had, like me, relocated.
I felt badly for our waitress as I know she has worked there for a long time and these kinds of things are beyond her control, yet guess who takes the ire from the customers? This location would be better served with a manager who is at least somewhat aware of what is going on at front of house. If this keeps up, there will be another vacant restaurant location in Walnut Grove.
