The Pantry features a menu of Canadian family classics prepared using the freshest, quality ingredients.
Toke my cousin here for lunch on Saturday. I had a double cheeseburger with fries and he had a breakfast item. The food was pretty good (Though I enjoyed the food at the Surrey location better) I would probably give the food a 3.5 if I could because it was definatly above average (now outstanding? I don't know about that, but MAAAAAAYBE, but definatly it deserves 3.5 stars)
The service here though was better. After I had paid for the bill, and before leaving the restaurant the waitress had brought back my digital camara that I left at the table.
I was so grateful for that. The food was good. It was a nice dining experience
The wife and I used to love going to the Pantry on SUnday mornings, to spend sometime together and enjoy a great breakfast, but the last few times visited, the food quality has noticable declined and the portions offered have shrunk. Really greasy food, grissily sausages, bacon that is more fat that meat etc...... even the eggs are truly nasty. nearly white looking yolks and a somewhat funky smell. Seems that they must be sourcing cheaper products to save of cost, while the portions are gettting smaller and they prices are rising ! I can understand a decent $$$ increase to offset food costs, but a nearly $5 increase to the cost of a buffet, with poor food quality and little to no food being brought out,, is just plain wrong. Even the regular menu is suffering. we had some moldy toast and barely edible leather sausages. We have written off The Pantry Langley as a place to eat. Sorry to see it decline so quickly....
Went here with one of my friends and decided between the two of us not to return. We would not recommend this restaurant to others. I ordered a chocolate milkshake, fries and gravy. I couldn't taste the chocolate in the milkshake and we suspect they're not using chocolate ice cream, rather that it's vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup. My fries and gravy were rather good, though the gravy was a bit on the lumpy side. My friend ordered their Meatloaf dinner, which comes with mashed potatoes and choice of soup or salad. He ordered the soup as it is a rainy day and said it was all right. When his main course arrived, he received roasted potatoes rather than mashed and had to get up, go to the front and get the hostess to get our server over to our table. When she came she brought the mashed potatoes and apologized for her error. I could see that the potatoes had been served with an ice cream scoop (meaning they'd been sitting somewhere for a while) and he said they were instant. As for the meatloaf he said it tasted like a hamburger patty. There weren't many people in the restaurant and we can understand why. Other than that, it's basically like any other major chain restaurant.
