As you can see from the title i love this place. I went there i think when they first opened and every time i go it still am amazed on how these guys can pull this off. The food is always fresh..different tastes on every plate and there is always something new to try. The staff is always so helpful and nice when we walk in, they remember our names for crying out loud..mind you i think we did go there about 3 times on a 3 week span through the summer, but they always have a smile and something positive to say.
The food here is the best sushi I have ever had. I have eaten at many places over the years and I love this food more so than Tojos downtown. the owner/chef Mike is always trying something new and exciting..i have told him on almost every time we are there he should be downtown vancouver battling it out there rather than being in langley. i would still do the drive if they ever move.
Every time i go, i overspend..overeat..feel exhausted from eating too much..and then have the feeling of wow that was amazing..i recomend this place to everone i know and i hope all of them take me up on it..they will not be dissapointed. keep it up Mike.
All i have to say is WOW...I read these other reviews and decided to give this place a try,, I was not dissapointed. Everything that I ordered was so fresh and amazing i kept ordering more after my intial 4 items. I was very impressed on how clean the place was, not to mention the catapillar roll is a sight to be seen. I ordered the catapillar, dynamite roll, lava rocks. and spicy tuna..then after i ordered the firecracker roll ( wow..so damn good)..the mona lisa, a sushi roll without rice..strange to be sure but so light and tasty, and then finished off with one i cant rememeber how to pronounce it was hwe- de- op roll ..( look for the one you cant pronounce and thats most likely it...so good)
Like i said , I ate too much..but it was worth every penny I spent. I used to go to those all you can eat sushi jionts...never again. I will pay the extra for sushi of this caliber.
Love the place, love the food, and the people were so friendly..i am going back and bringing friends.
I've tried several dishes in Nakama including Spicy roll, Spicy sashimi roll, BBQ short ribs, chicken teriyaki, avocado rolls and other sushi. Ummmm, all of my experience with each of those plate was total yamyam and the ingredients were so fresh!! I'm going to keep trying new menus to please my plate.!!
I have eaten a lot of sushi restaurants. Including most of the ones in Langely. Well, Nakama has them all beat hands down. Sure there are other good places that do a roll or two really nicely, but the chef here, Mike, delivers consistently fresh fish, quality rolls and delicious food. Give the Mona Lisa roll a whirl on a hot summer day, it's so refreshing...wrapped in thinly sliced cucumber instead of rice! Seriously, give it a chance. His sashimi is beautiful, tender, top notch and my favourite. I'm really only good for a sushi review here as I don't eat much hot Japanese food, but i can account for some of the appetizers. The tempura is delicate and not overbattered or overly oily, the lava rocks...oh, you HAVE to try them with their yummy spicy sauce. Home made seaweed salad, not the chewy commercial kind you get other places. Try to takoyaki too... The sunomono is delicious, not too sweet, nor too vinegary. You're just going to have go more than once to try all the things he has to offer. You won't meet a nice family either. This is truly family run and they're all so nice. I'm a regular and I love that Mike will go the extra mile if I have a special request.
A friend who lives in Langley suggested this place. It looked clean and organized. The servers were quick to greet you on the way in.
I've now been here twice and both times I've ordered rolls. They've been well-rolled with a nice texture and taste to the rice. The fish was fresh and very flavourful. The reason I rate food a 3 rather than higher is because there isn't as much variety as I've seen at some places in Vancouver. But the prices are comparable to most of the other places I frequent, and so if I'm in Langley, this is where I'd choose to go.
Me and my family were in the area looking for a place to eat on a Sunday. However, most places in this area were closed for business especially sushi joints. We were about to give up and came across this place and decided to try it out. The place looked like they just opened up but after asking the server, she informed us that they`ve been opened for over a year now. The dining area was well lit and had some ambient music in the background. Also the newly upgraded menus looked very sharp. The service was phenomenal. Having the restaurant family owned and operated gave my family and i the feeling you get when you`ve become a regular at a restaurant for a long time. They treated us as if we were VIPs, awesome. Now the food... OMG... By far the freshest fish and ingredients i`ve come across in sushi joints. The sushi chef had all his fish and ingredients displayed in his display case. My family and i ordered a few set menu options which included a little bit of everything from miso and sunomono to sashimi and rolls. We also tried a Crazy Boy roll recommended by the chef and was very impressed with the flavor and presentation. When we got our bill i was really impressed with the prices of our meals. DEFINITELY coming back and DEFINITELY recommending this place to everyone!
This place is great. Mike (The Sushi Chef) knows what he's doing and makes his Sushi with only the finest, freshest ingredients. People are coming from all over to eat Sushi here because it's some of the freshest in Vancouver!
My only qualm is with the chicken teriyaki. That's the only thing that I've had that I haven't like. Some days it's great others, not so much. Not everyone has this experience, however! Most of the time it's great!
The sushi is phenomenal. You have to try it.... oh, and try the crazy boy roll!! So good!
Great food great service and prices on avarage with other sushi resturaunts. Been going since the resturaunt opened and it gets better each time i go.Taken friends and family and everyone has walked away very impressed. The newest addition to the resturaunt is a large lcd T.V. so you dont have to worry about missing a Canucks game.
I have ate sushi in over 22 different sushi places and this is the best I've had. The price is on par with most places I've been to and even below some others. The food was fantastic and the staff warm and friendly. I've been back repeatedly with my family and friends and we've never had any complaints. We've been going since they first opened and everytime we go the place is slightly different with more improvments. If you are going for a family dinner or a quiet date it is a great place to be. I know I will be going back.
