My friends and I have been going to Moxie's on a regular basis because of the great service and great food.
The hostesses at Moxie's are pretty to look at but they also do a fantastic job of greeting you and making sure that you get a table. On busy nights like Friday and Saturday they have two or three of them there to help the people out, one even held the door open for us as we left, that was unexpected but very nice.
You have two options on where you would like to sit, lounge or restaurant area. Lounge is where the "pretty people" and "in crowd go" there are also TV's there to watch the game, there are nice chairs and tables there but there is also the evil middle table which is put oddly in the center of the high flow traffic area. I feared many times that the waitress may have dropped a drink on my head.
Restaurant area is nice, two and four person booths are plentiful. Tables for four people are a bit cramped at times as my brother's elbow was there whenever I would move. Word of warning for people who are on a date that are wearing high heels though, you have to be careful when you leave the two person booth as it is quite high and may risk breaking an ankle.
The service here is superb as the wait staff are friendly and prompt always ready to see you with a smile. Our waitress even poured our beer for us which was enexpected. Moxie's hires staff that are good looking and who can serve as well, there are some places that I've been to that have pretty faces but that's about it.
Food here is delicious, I recommend, the asiago goat cheese pizza, three dip med bread (galic city, yikes) nachos, and pasta.
Only bad thing I had to say is that we got a pitcher of honey brown ale and it was $19.99 which was pretty steep, most pubs charge $12.99 for the exact same thing
New location, in the Sandman Signature @ 200th & Hwy 1. Was looking forward to the rooftop patio, but it wasn't open yet. About 8 staff greet you and all repeat the drink special...a little monotonous, especially because "bad boy beer" is not something I would order. We sat on the ground level patio which was okay, despite the techno blaring above us. Had to get up and actually track down a server to bring us drinks, too bad one of those eight that greeted us wasn't given additional duties.
The white wine arrived warm, not offf cold, but actually warm. After asking for a cooler and some ice, it took a full 15 to get it drinkable. Ah, bartender? Apparently their liquor order arrived late? Perhaps suggest an alternative?
Food was very average, the avocado spring rolls are just weird. Warm avocado just doesn't work. Everyone at the table tried a bite and agreed. Crab cakes were bland and over coated and calmari portion could not be shared, there was so little of it. Compared to the food quality to somehwere like Cactus Club, this doesn't even come close. The staff as usual have little clothes and apparently even less training or knowledge of how to provide good service. The manager did visit the table and comped the avocado, nice to see at least an effort, but it won't be enough to bring us back. I'd choose Brown's instead.
Very nicebuilding and great atmosphere but that was where the fun ends.Server took forever to arrive at our table and the drinks took even longer.Appetizers took almost 1/2 an hour but they were decent tasting and at least warm. When our entrees arrived before we had finished our starters we just let them sit for two minutes while we finished and the pasta was so overcooked it resembled teh consistency of mashed potatoes when chewed. My husband ordered a steak rare and it was pretty much medium well.We never ate our dinners and when asked we voiced our opinion and our server was very apologetic and removed both from the bill.Too bad such a nice looking place had absolutely no follow up with service nor food!
I use to go to Moxies from time to time however, it took one very rude waitress to make that place a no-go zone forever.
We waited for about 3-4 minutes to be seated. There was no one in the restaurant. It was dead. We weren't even acknowledged. After being seated we waited for our waitress for about 10 minutes to order drinks. Again it was dead, she kept cleaning all the tables around us, and attentively serving the table across from us which had a few police officers. She didn't visit our table for another 15 minutes. We might as well had served our selves because when we needed to order food we had to go and ask her. I ordered the steak and goat cheese salad. And my boyfriend ordered the chicken oscar. 20 minutes later my boyfriend food was done, however just then she decided to tell me that they don't have goat cheese for the goat cheese and steak salad. Fine..... I'm starving at this point.....I order a quick salad. It was some sort of chicken salad. I asked for no tomatoes. When my salad came I had about a handful of lettuce TWO pieces of chicken, and loads of TOMATOES. I told her I have an allergy to tomatoes, and I cannot eat the salad. She asked me if she can pick the tomatoes off. I said NO I HAVE AN ALLERGIE TO TOMATOES. Then she proceeded to ask me if there was anything on the salad that I want to eat. She obviously didn't want to take it back for whatever reason. She was pushing this tomato filled salad on me. Their kitchen was closing, and I was left hungry...However, the cops across the way looked really happy and full. We were not rude as we both worked in the restaurant business for years, but it looks like our money was not worth the service there, as some other costumers. After that, they paid for our bill, which was just my boyfriends dinner. I would have rather paid for my food, had good service.. Usually what people expect, from a place that charges as much as they do for the food that they serve.
Took my daughter to Moxie's as I had won a $25.00 gift card at my staff Christmas party. We went on a Saturday afternoon just before 2:00 and were seated right away. Server came over and took our drink order, we looked at the menu and actually decided quite quickly what we wanted. She brought our drinks and took our order. A while later luch arrived, served to us by the manager (I saw her name tag). Overall, good fare - my side Spring Salad (instead of fries, no extra charge) was phenominal and I wished I'd ordered just a big salad! I had the beef dip - average taste, ran into a bit of grissle and that put me off, plus I was just not that hungry, I guess. Daughter had Blackened Chicken sandwich and side Caesar salad. She said it was good. I guess I just picked at my sandwich because when the manager (again!) came by to clear the table, she asked if it was OK. I said yes, and she said, "No, REALLY?" She was sincere about knowing about my lunch and why I hadn't finished it. At that moment, I knew she would have "fixed" it somehow if I'd said something. She was genuinely concerned that I hadn't eaten it all. That was enough to make me feel that she cared, and I also didn't want to complain. I honeslty was just full. Overall, a nice lunch date. Gosh, some of the servers skirts were WAYYYY short. Oh my goodness. It was awkward. I mean - really? Ooof. You have a great manager who is probably at the mercy of the chain who says the skirts have to be short. Sad indeed.
It has taken over a year for this deserved review to make its way here. My wife and I went here a year ago and it was the worst eat out experience ever. I used to go to Moxie's in Edmonton by kingsway and used to enjoy it. The managment need to be canned at the Langley version. We ordered our meal and like others have mentioned part of the menue wasnt available.. then after 45 minutes of waiting for our meal the waitress comes out and appologizes and says she forgot to put our order out to the kitchen... "but dont worry I'll put your on rush" 30 minutes later my meal comes out and my wife's is no where to be found... we wait another 20 minutes for hers and as a gentleman i wait... now mine is cold and hers tastes like it was made in a rush.. not good at all.... we also order some calamari which is something i usually really like,. in this case it was very cold and soft. when i questioned the staff they said thats how they serve it at Moxies. when i spoke to the management about the worst restaurant experience i had ever had ( we eat out 4 times a week on average) they said they would give my wife a free desert as an appology. she chose the chocolate cake to go..... we took a styrofoam container home and when we opened it there was 1/2 a browny in it. 2 bytes worth of a brownie.. I repeat. this has been the worst dinning experience either of us have ever had and if we can spare other people from the sadness of eating here all the better. 1 star is too many but they didnt let me rate 0 stars... I will end on a positive note.. the washrooms were elegant and the LCD tv's on the walls in front of the urinals were amusing. too bad the same attention to detail has been lost on the food and the service.....
A big mixed group of 17 kids ,parents and g'parents and friends .
Server Clayton looked after our two big tables and keep track of five separate bills flawlessly.Great host to our special celebratory evening meal. Clayton is a "credit" to Moxies!
My meal was excellent and have to rate my experience 4.5/5 [meat balls stuffed with cheese and spaggetti ]
V.Tasty ,well presented and value for the money. Shared a med bread appy with 4 dips~ $6 . excellent flavours and portion sizes.
My wife had a very generous portion of a Carribbean style chicken meal and found it a bit too hot ,but that's ok as I ate most of it . Wonderful falvours .
All the kid meals were a great hit and the dry ice ,ice cream dessert was the highlight for all of them.
Atmosphere , moderately up scale , clean , well trained staff .
I now officially like Moxie's. I was in Langley two weeks ago to meet a lady friend. Although the service isnt fast (and normally given the beautiful ladies that is more than alright). But I absolutely LOVE the Chicken Curry and Martini. I go to Moxie's once every couple of months for work lunch and I always order the same thing, I love it that much!! The spinach dip appetizer is great too. Good wine choices.
Some friends and I decided on Moxie's for a a bachelorette party appetizers/desserts evening before heading out to do something else. When we arrived, we were seated in the lounge/bar area. After about 20 minutes, our server finally came over and as we started ordering drinks and food each one of us was ID'd. This was fine, until those ordering coffee and pop were also required to show ID. In addition, because there was one minor at our table (not ordering alcohol) we were asked to move our group of 10 people to a table that seated 6 and were told we could squish 8 people in there and they would bring two extra chairs for us. We moved to the other table but had to ask for two extra chiars three times before we got any. They finally brought us two patio chairs and placed them at the end of our table. To top if off, when our second server came we were told that our first order was not put in so she had to re-take our order. A friend and I each ordered the same dessert and when the food came, our server only brought one. We decided to just leave it and split the plate instead of trying to ask for another one. When the dessert arrived for the other girls, we were given only 4 spoons and had to ask for a few more. The server then came over and brought us three more spoons, but they were soup spoons and she said that they did not have any clean teaspoons as they were al being washed. I will definitely not be going back to the Langley Moxie's. Overall the experience was just awful.
I go to Moxie's once in a while because you usually don't have to wait to be seated. I guess that should be a hint right there. For the most part the waitresses seem to be more concerned with hiking their skirts up and doing their make up. I think I've had one decent waitress in all the times I've been there. If you go, expect to get seated right away but then have to wait 10-20 minutes for a waitress to even acknowledge you. I suggest ordering drink and meals at the same time because you might not see the waitress for a while. Surprisinly the higher end meals like steak, halibut, and salmon are always nicely done. The salads can be horrendous at best, usually drenched in dressing and filled with random chunks of food that doesn't go together. All in all it can be really hit and miss, but generall a miss.
We went on Saturday night with 4 adults and two kids 3 and 6. We were very pleasantly surprised by the quick attentive professional service and the delicious meals. We had two kid's pasta meals and two adult pasta meals off the menu. Our server when asked for suggestions mentioned a salmon appetizer that she said made a nice light meal. When we asked to have pasta instead of rice in the curry rice bowls, there was absolutely no problem. The server was back frequently to see if everything was to our liking and we even had another server come by and check and take away some plates. Refills of soft drinks were brought as needed and the server asked if we wanted desert and coffee. Since the kid's meals came with the famous lava icecream, the restaurant gave a brownie bite as a complementary desert for the one guest who's birthday it was. We all agreed that we would be back and would recommend this restaurant to our friends.
My wife and I went here for breakfast one morning. The service was very slow although we were the only ones in the place.(that should have tipped us off) When our orders finally came after my wife had to change her order because they didn't have something several times, There was a long hair in my hash browns. When I showed the waitress I got that it might be one of my wifes hairs but you could clearly see it had been fried with the potatoes. I returned the meal and waited for another one which took forever. There was no appology or even an offer to comp our meal. This was 2 years ago and will never go back!!!!
Moxies in langley is a non event experience. While the decor and washrooms are very delux the service and attitude of servers does not match.I would not recomend this as a place to go for an enjoyable meal.Time to recieve your meal is longer than normal and average for the price charged. There are plenty of better restaurants in Langley for the money.
