Luxe serves traditional Chinese cuisine including dim sum and seafood dishes.
When they first opened, I actually bragged to my friends that there is actually a restaurant out in the burbs with good, authentic Chinese food. After a couple of years, I have gone back for a visit and it has certainly changed! The food tastes no better than what you get at a fast food joint and the portion size is so small for what you pay! I think the positive reviews have gone to their heads and let them think they have the right to rip us off! I will never return as there are now other restaurants nearby with better food and value. Hopefully, Luxe will realize that they now have competition and will work on improving their quality and value!
We had dim sum at Lux yesterday. First of all, the shrimp dumplings were "off". Definitely starting to rot. They tasted funny and I had to spit it out. The other dumplings did not taste fresh either. Really disturbed that they would serve food that is starting to go bad. This was our 3rd visit and each time the food quality went down. Will not return again. It's pretty odd that everyone else in the restaurant seemed to be enjoying their food. No taste buds I guess. The Vietnamese place in the same strip mall is excellent.
The restaurant is well situated in Langley with easy access and free parking. A nice size premises kept very clean with nice decor. Service is first class with pleasant staff ready to serve. The food is fresh, piping hot and very tasty. You don't feel rushed but plenty of time to enjoy your experience. Easy personal pay arrangement when you are ready to leave. I will certainly return and bring my friends along as well.
After partaking in the Lux dimsum several times and never being disappointed we decide to go for an evening meal. We made reservations so as to be seated on time. No such luck. Waiting then to be served took forever. When the food finally came, I've had better take out. Not impressed at all I'll travel for my regular Chinese. On the other hand the dimsum is good.
My husband and I were looking for a good (local) dim sum restaurant, and several people recommended Luxe to us. We were not disappointed! The food is amazing and the service prompt. I would definitely recommend it. The line ups can be long on weekends, but that just speaks to the quality of the food and atmosphere.
I love Dim Sum and Luxe is the best that I have tried by far. I tend to stick to my favorites: Bean Curd, Sticky Rice, Shrimp Dumpling, Deep Fried Shrimp Roll, Pork Dumpling, Spare Ribs in Black Bean Sauce and a few others. The staff are very friendly and accommodating and were very helpful in figuring out what my dairy-allergic son could eat. They remember me now when I come in and bring me my favorites right away.
The restaurant itself is bright and airy and the decor is classy - go early as it fills up quickly!
Finally made it to the Luxe, I must say it did not disapoint. The food was great, the service was impeccable. Our waitress was very informative, kind and a lot of fun. She took the time to explain many of the dishes and suggested that we could create our own. The food was hot and enough for all of us, no one went home hungry. Would I go back? in a heart beat, next meal will be Dim Sum, hafta try the chichen feet !! Oh, loved the dishes, very different.
Have had dinner here twice.
The first thing you'll notice is the decor isn't tacky and there is an absence of muzac.
The food is not the standard fare as found in most Chinese eateries, its much better. Bring your sense of adventure. If you’re looking for chicken balls or batter fried everything, this is not the place for you.
The service is attentive, the owners work the dining room and solicit guest feedback. The desire to deliver a good experience is apparent.
I love Chinese cuisine and have eaten extensively in Europe and Asia and Luxe is truly amongst the greatest restaurants I have experienced. It is strange that it should be located in Langley but I am not complaining as it means I don't have to cross the Port Mann anymore.
Whether you ask for the casseroled beef brisket (not on the menu), the peking duck or the egg plant with shredded scallops the food is wonderfully presented and tastes fabulous.
At lunchtime the Dim Sum trolley service is very traditional and again the flavors are great, but be warned it can be busy on Sunday.
I would love to keep Luxe a secret but that would not be fair on the hard working, friendly staff.
After reading the reviews about this restaurant, we decided to try the dim sum for lunch. Not too shabby. The food were hot and tasted better than some of the restaurants in Richmond. The owner was friendly and one of the staff member was extremely helpful in getting the dim sums to our table. The selections were a bit limited but that's ok. Place is fairly clean. Maybe should try dinner the next time around.
I was really surprised to find an authentic, Richmond-esque Chinese restaurant in Langley. One of my girlfriends just moved out to Langley from Vancouver and we decided to meet up for lunch. Her husband suggested we try a new Chinese restaurant that his colleague recommended.
The dim sum was delicious. We ordered dishes off the menu but the servers brought items out as well, table-to-table. The servers were friendly and took the time to explain what some of the dishes were that we weren’t familiar with. We kept telling one other to stop ordering more but everything was try-worthy. I especially liked the egg tarts (a dim sum staple) because they were fresh, hot, and most importantly, the pastry was flaky. They just melted in my mouth! We saw another table order the Peking duck and it was looked absolutely tantalizing so we ordered one as well. I’m glad we did! It was the first time Dave, my girlfriend’s husband, ever tried Peking duck and lettuce wrap and he jokingly pleaded I visit again next week so he’d have an excuse to come back for it again :)
The restaurant itself is very classy. The décor is subtle and the china they use is quite beautiful. We even noticed that the china and tablecloth design match! Our table was set up efficiently and elegantly despite the busyness of the restaurant at lunch time.
Next time I drive out to Langley, we’ll have to try the dinner menu. (And order the Peking duck again!)
I might coming at this from a somewhat different point of view from others here. I have been trying for so long to find a restaurant in and around this area to bring clients and suppliers. I will be taking my clients here from now on when I am trying to close my deals.
First off, the level of execution for the food was unlike anywhere I have ever eaten. Everyone was so impressed with the fresh seafood aspect of the restaurant. It was odd to think of myself as a seafood lover but I never realized that all the seafood I ate in restaurants were not really all that fresh. I mean, the fish and the lobster that we ate were still swimming in the tank when we walked in.
The quiet elegance of this restaurant cannot be overstated. Whether it is bringing family, friends, or business, it is a very nice and open space that just makes you feel comfortable and relaxed. Service is helpful and attentive without being overbearing. It is also great that the servers and staff speak English because I have gotten to know them and have gotten to try some more special and unique dishes.
I will most definitely be coming back for dinner in the future.
Much like fireted, I stumbled upon this restaurant by luck. I was driving home from shopping at the Willowbrook Mall across the street and I saw the restaurant's sign.
I wasn't expecting a restaurant of this caliber before I walked in. Luxe is beautifully decorated with some traditional Chinese artwork mixed with modern subtle colours. Make sure to peer up from the table because there is a gorgeous chandelier hanging from the skylight in the middle of the dining room!
The service was wonderful and the waiters were all very knowledgeable and took time to explain some of the dishes to me. They recommended the sauteed soy sauce prawns from the live seafood tank and it was amazing!
In talking to the host/manager, they said that they are all from Vancouver and have years and years of experience in upscale Chinese restaurants in Vancouver and Richmond! Luxe is every bit as good as the ones I've been to in Richmond -- and I've been to quite a few. I feel that we are pretty fortunate to have a Chinese restaurant like this in our community.
Next time, I am going to try the dimsum, but that will have to wait for a weekend.
