I wish I could go back in time, just a few hours before we ate at Fork N' Chopsticks.....
About 30 mintues after eating our different meals, all 4 of us made the mad dash(s) to the rest rooms in the movie theater....
The only common items we each shared were the egg rolls which were very very greasy, and the chicken chowmein which was cold and flavorless.
Our server was less than happy to be working on an hot Saturday, it showed in her interactions with the customers. We asked if they had any low sodium soy sauce and she didn't even say a word, she just walked off and didn't come back until it was time to clear the plates.
Food was generally cold and very very greasy and tasteless.
Not sure who or where the booths came from but the nearly vertical backs and rock hard bottoms were very hard on our backs and legs ( all 4 of us are Career Firefighters ) so were used to sitting on hard bench seats, but this was crazy.
Not sure what gives, but none of us will be coming back every again.
I have been to this restaurant several times and every time we have had horrible service. The food usually takes over an hour they often forget items that we ordered or bring out something totally different than we have ordered. Tonight we ordered delivery and some of our order was missing but we had been charged for it on the bill. When we called they told us that they were too busy to deliver it to us and we could drive there and pick it. The manager refused to speak to me on the phone because apparently she was too busy. Unfortunately we really wanted this item so we drove down to pick it up. They pretty much ignored us when we walked in handed us the item that they forgot to deliver to us and walked away. When I asked to speak to the manager she was very rude and refused to take the item off the bill because we had already paid for it. She wanted to give us a credit for the next time. I told her we weren't coming back this is the worst service I have ever had .. It was their mistake and they acted annoyed that we would complain..
This place is very close to my house and I have eaten there many times. Most of the time I just pick my order up, but the service is always friendly and they are willing to make substitutions and changes. The vegetables are always super fresh, the meat not overly fatty, the chicken balls and deep fried prawns are not greasy and the fried rice doesn't taste like it's 3 days old as I find is often the case. I have ordered many different items and always been happy. The portions are large and this place has excellent value.
What I dislike the most about this place is that, well it is no Chinese at all. Don't know how to cook good Chinese food is one thing, but have no idea of what Chinese food is... that's a totally different matter. There is a big issue with honesty here.
The food is tasteless. Doesn't matter it is more chop sticks or more forks, meaning more Chinese or more western, any way, the food has no taste at all. Very poor Chinese food and is not Chinese at all.
There is no service basically. The feeling I had about the waitress, they are like a bunch of lazy high school chicks trying to make a buck there. Not only that they look high school, they actually gave no service. They are just chatting with each other not far from where you sat. Maybe I can join them and chat as friends, might be fun that way, but view them as waitresses - no, they are no waitresses and have no service at all.
The place is not decorated, simply a room with some tables and chairs - not even those tables and chairs you expect in a restaurant - those are more like tables and chairs in a place like - a library or a school classroom. The atmosphere is not dining place at all.
value, okay it's not expansive, but it is expansive considering the poor food and service.
Honestly, I've had better Chinese food BUT Fork N Chopsticks is a GREAT choice for a westernized Chinese meal. They provide EXCELLENT value: very reasonable prices, ingredients are fresh, service is friendly, and the food is what you hope for from a good neighborhood Chinese restaurant. Of all the places I have gone to for Chinese food on this side of the Fraser River, it's the one I keep going back to time and time again. Just North of Highway 1 on 200th it's easy to get to, good parking. My favorite dishes? Almond Chicken, deep fried prawns, vegetables with cashews, hot & sour soup.
