Its fesh, but good? nope

There food looks fresh, but saying Awesome food? nope, I still go there once in a while with my family only because I am at Langley, but there are better choices out there for Chinese food.

I never pay too much attention to the service since I was so busy chatting with others, but what I don't like about the food is that there is not outstanding enough for the place.

I've order chop suey, chow mein, and BBQ duck.....and more, however I didn't order the "crispy" chow mien, I order the pan fried, which is real contonese style, that the noodle is soft mainly and a bit crispy edge.

I would Not go back if I have too. If without family, I would go fork n chopstix, however, that place is not that ambiance if thats the one of your concern

Worth the trip to Langley for great szechuan!

I live in Vancouver and normally would never head over the bridge to eat szechuan, but I was invited to Empire Gardens by a family member years ago, now its the szechuan restaurant I bring all my friends too! I usually have to explain why we're heading to Langley for dinner, but never have to explain myself once we're there.Great food, selection and the service is like visiting family! You have try it, you won't regret it!

Best Chinese Food I have Had
By smokey99 of Abbotsford BC (1 Review)
Submitted Tuesday, July 12, 2011 - 2:10pm [Dine in]

I have been there several times in the last few months and have to say, it is without a doubt the best Chinese food I have ever had.

The service was always fast and friendly and the restaurant is new and tastefully decorated.
The food is incredible, I had orange beef one time and the flavour JUMPED out, absolutely great!
I also loved their ginger beef, and Moo Shu pork.

I have gone back with several friends on a number of occasions and everyone loved it.

I don't understand some of the bad reviews I read on here, they can't be talking about the same place, or maybe its the competition, either way I highly recommend this restaurant.

Average Chinese

Went on a busy night before Christmas. It was very busy but we got a table in 5 mintues. It was however very wobblly and not fun to eat off of. Wait staff barely spoke english and waiter could not read the English portion of the menu so when i pointed and showed what i wanted it did not work. Diffcult to order. We asked for a veg fried rice and after much discussion we were to get one with green beans in it. It ended up with peas not green beans. doesn't all fried rice have peas?

Food was ok but a little too chinese for me without souding ignorant. I prefer westernize chinese food. THe fried rice was good, the egg rolls were acutally spring rolls and VERY greasy. THe beef and broccoli was not good and the broccoli was not crisp fried, but raw almost. Deep fried tofu in black bean was ok too but I;ve had better fried tofu.

All in all it was ok but I would not return.

I've been to Empire Garden quite a few times now. The ambiance is quite nice and whenever I go there it seems to be clean. The restaurant is never full, so I can't imagine how people can be sat at dirty tables. My rating is based on the good times I've been there, although last time the service wasn't too good but on the other end of things it was THE BEST hot and sour soup i've ever had (i've had it many times at Empire Garden, but this one was the best ever). It seems that if the owner isn't there, the service isn't as good, which is normal I guess.
Some of the items aren't super good. Last time we were there we ordered the crispy chow mein but there was so much sauce that it wasn't really crispy at all. And I'll never order a hot pot from there again. But Empire Garden is the spot we go to for DimSum, as they make it fresh when you order (unlike the roll-cart type, where it's been sitting around) and my spouse swears by the deep fried prawn pockets. Overall it's our place to go when we're feeling like chinese food.

Food is whatever

We wanted to go for dim sum but got there too late. We ordered some lunch items such as crab claw, fish maw soup with crab and a noodle dish. Everything was over salted even my husband who uses soya on all his food said it was salty even for him. It just killed any flavor whatsoever. The portion wasn't worth the price we paid either.
The place is modern with linen tablecloth which is a plus. The lady owner came over and said hello.
First impression wasn't so good so maybe go there and try dim sum only to see if it is any better.

This is THE place for chinese food

The new location on 88th avenue...the first word I can say is WOW.
We sat down, and ordered our food. We didn't have to wait too long, maybe about ten minutes or so. It was piping hot. We ordered the following:

small wor wonton soup (it didn't look small to us) yum, yum.

dinner for one with almond chicken, beef & broccoli & chickn chow mein & egg roll.

dinner for one with deep fried prawn, swwet & sour pork, chicken chow mein and egg roll.

we also ordered roasted spicy squid with pepper salt, and half a duck.

This food was magnificent. Both dinner-for-one plates were abundant with food, so much so that I got a lot of it to take home, as did my husband.

We ate most of the duck, took some of that home too. The squids, we ate many of, but the food was all so filling that we took some of those home too.

Of course, the wor wonton was so full of wontons, chicken, beef, pork, squid, whitefish and veggies that it was probably the culprit that filled us up.

We are going to eat here...again and again!

Worst Chinese restaurant in Langley
By ADinnerFromBC of Langley (12 Reviews)

The only thing good I can say about the place is their decoration. Unfortunately that's not what I am going to eat.

The ingredient of the food is pretty poor. Take one example, their sea food porridge, all what you can see in the dish is rice and water. If you really want to find out why it is called sea food porridge, dig hard, but well, doesn;t matter how hard you dig, you won't find sea food. This is just oen example, the whole point is that, this is one of those restaurant that makes money by using less real stuff.

The service is poor, and I never saw the waitress smile. You know what, at least pretend that you like your customers, but they don\t bother even to pretend, oh well.

The value is absolutely the worst, among all the restaurants I tried in Langley area. Absolutely pricey, plus like I said above, pricey with not much real stuffs.

Good Food and Value

Empire Garden Chinese is definitely good food...some of the items are not as good such as the deep fried prawns...way too battered.

But the combos for one are HUGE and a great value. Not the best Chinese out there, but definitely not the worst either.

Worth a try if you're looking for a decent meal for a good price.
