Fairly new small sushi place on 200th St. and 72nd Ave.
A little 20 seat restaurant in a small strip mall. Service was a little slow as there is only 1 waitress. Tables are very close together so that I felt crammed in. Food was delicious. You could tell there was some pride in putting out a good product. I was there on a Monday night and besides being quite busy there was a lot of pickup orders. A little on the expensive side but the quality justified the price. Restroom was clean and in good order. This is a place I would return to again.
My friend and myself planned to go for sushi last night, and I decided to look at dinehere and find a new sushi place to try for the first time. Since this restaurant had a rating of 4.5 stars I thought that this would be the place to go!
I found this place to have very slow service, a bad waitress who seemed to be more interested in watching Olympic sporting events on her laptop in the corner rather than serve the full house, with decent food. There was a lady sitting beside us who waited forever for her food with her son, who had her food set down infront of her while her son had to wait 10-15 minutes for his roll - and she even had to ask the waitress if it was on it's way. We ordered an appetizer, salads, and 2 rolls each... our salads came out first which were really good, and then the appetizer, but then we had to wait about 20 minutes for our rolls to show up - which came out one at a time, leaving me with no food while my friend had 1 of 2 of her rolls out... We only ordered one specialty roll which looked like a sloppy mess on my plate as it fell apart when i went to take a roll off of it.
The waitress needs to get it together and realize that customers don't like dirty dishes sitting on their table through their whole meal - especially at such a small table squished between other customers. And that she shouldn't just serve another table beside you and walk away without giving a glance in your direction.
I'm a little surprised at all the stars given to this place. I will definately give it another try - but probably in take out.
I'm from Richmond and I have recently moved to Langley. I love sushi and trust me, I have tried all sushi place in Richmond. To tell you the truth, I thought the best sushi place was in richmond until I found DAMIKO!
They have the best specialty rolls! the taste and the resentation are excellent! their price are low compare to their quality of food. I also love their sockeye sashimi. sooo fresh!!
I go here at least twice a week and they are often exetremely busy. If you are trying to dine in on Friday, you should make a reservation. The servers are friendly and tried thier best to serve quick and accurate. If you are trying their sushi sometime soon, try their specialty rolls and gyoza. I'm glad such place is in the neighbor. I love Damiko!
Damiko has not been open that long but has quickly become a favorite of ours, namely because it is close to home. The food is excellent and the staff is always very friendly. It is not a very large place, sometimes hard to get a table, so we often just order and pick up. Overall a great place with awsome food and good prices.
I guess some people care less about the Olympics. I was at Damiko last Friday night when the Hockey was on. I thought it was nice that the waitress brought her own laptop just to put the hockey on for her customers. My neighbor introduced Damiko to me and I am enjoying their sushi. I think my entire neighbor going to Damiko for sushi now. Every time I visit Damiko, the waitress and the waiter are kind and caring. They seemed to know most of their customers and even remembers what their regular menus are. Their specialty rolls are the best! Good quality and excellent presentation. Damiko is always busy and sometimes I will have to wait 10 to 20 minutes to have my sushi on my table. But I think it's pretty minor compare to how busy they are and the sushi they make. Highly recommended.
This is a great new little Sushi place just on 200th st in Langley. If you enjoy very friendly service and fantastic food then you will love this little treasure. Not the greatest place to dine in, but for take out you can't beat it.
It has quickly become a favorite of ours as well as a lot of our friends.
I often go to Damiko - it is defiantly the best Sushi I've had in Langley. Good portions, good food, good service and good value. They are very accommodating with pre-orders and take out as well. The only problem is that to get to it off of 200th street (south bound) is a pain because there is no left turn into the complex.
I took my hubby here for his birthday after reading the good reviews-it did not disappoint. He had the Boston Roll, and loved it, and it's a must if you like it a bit spicy. I had a maki combo, and chicken karaage. I loved the rolls, nice and fresh, and great flavour. I did not care for the chicken karage though-tasted like shake n bake. But if craving sushi, we would definitely come here again! Service was prompt and friendly, and very accurate. Lots of people ordering take out, and the employees seemed to recognize many of their "regulars". Good sushi place!
I have tried countless Sushi restaurants and this one is by far the best I've tried and have been dining there very, very regularly.
Their place is not very big but the atmosphere is one that will make you feel very homely and cozy. The service is beyond incredible. The existing waiter and waitress are very friendly and outgoing and if you have anything you need they will tend to your needs in a blink of an eye or as soon as possible. Though the new recruit seemed to be a bit shy, but that doesn't change the fact that they are all very friendly and helpful. Maybe this is in part because the restaurant is not very big.
This place has established itself in a very short amount of time and they get very busy during lunch and especially dinner. The amount of customer they get is amazing for such a small place.
The food is also beyond incredible, especially the specialty rolls such as tigers rolls, rainbow rolls, boston rolls (Personally my all time favourite). Because of Damiko Sushi everytime I visit another Sushi Restaurant I would always order their specialty rolls to compare, and believe me I have NOT been to one that has specialty rolls made more fancy and delicious than Damiko Sushi.
They decorate their specialty rolls extremely well and made them so amazingly beautiful that you would think they are exhibiting art instead of food (well, they go hand in hand). And also they decorate the rolls very differently each time you visit so sometimes I thought I had accidentally ordered the wrong roll. Their specialty rolls are ones that you would open your eyes and say, "Wow", when you set your eyes upon them.
After the initial amazement, you would get another shock when you put them into your mouth. The taste is beyond belief and you would definitely go back for more once you've tasted it.
I know this sound too good to be true and I am NOT one of the employees or anyone that is trying to lie to boost up ratings. My friend introduced me to this restaurant during the summer of 2009 and I dine their regularly and everyone that I introduced to Damiko Sushi had been amazed by their specialty rolls and every other aspects related to their fine dining and excellent service.
What are you waiting for? Just pay a little visit and try a Boston Roll, you will be amazed.
Our family always goes here. A family run sushi restaurant, food is always good and large portions. Reasonably priced for what you get, and that's not a bad thing. Make sure you order the Agadashi Tofu, it's awesome and huge hit on the appetizer menu. The lunch and dinner boxes are the best deal, but whatever fits your fancy.
