Coza! is a celebration of all things Tuscan, from the Italian tile-work to our heart of the house kitchen design. The kitchen is the heart of the Tuscan home, and we have made our open concept kitchen the heart of our restaurant. Each of our dishes is prepared before your eyes. Tuscan food, by nature, is out of the oven, from the grill or out of the pan. Fresh and simple, grilled, al-forno or sauté, you won’t find a deep-fryer or any trans fat at Coza! Robust flavours and carefully selected ingredients are the basis of all of our dishes. We are so dedicated to making sure every bite is authentic, that we spent months in Italy, hand-picking ingredients and recipes to bring back for the Coza! Experience.
Have driven by Coza a thousand times, finally decided to try it out one Sunday night. They were not overly busy and we were seated right away. As another reviewer pointed out, the service was very slow-paced... deliberate or less than competent? I still don't know. We were greeted warmly and sat for a long time with no one coming over to our table. The server finally showed up and got our drinks. The bread came quite a long time after that, and we saw our Caesar salads sit on the bar for at least 10 minutes. Anyway, when the entrees FINALLY came out, they were worth waiting for. Hubby had Chicken Picatta and I had Linguine Alfredo with pesto chicken breast added, both incredibly tasty. Sadly however, as I said the service was lacking as were were not offered fresh parm cheese for our pastas and could not for the life of me get a pasta spoon! Oh well! We finally asked the manager as he was walking by, and he hustled to get our requested items. The bill was a reasonable $39 plus tip. We will go back, and I hope the service is faster next time. Hey, just being honest.
I can't believe I haven't rated Coza before. We often go here when we visit Langley.
The food is high quality, delicious and piping hot. We started with the Italian salad, which was crispy and very fresh. I had the Pasta Al Pesto, it was rich and creamy with tender pieces of chicken. My Mom had Chichen Reggiano with linguine alfredo. That's the nice thing about Coza, they will add, delete or sub anything you want to make your meal to your liking. We asked for virgin cocktails - watermelon lemonade (I think) and it was so delicious we had seconds. The ambiance is very old world Italian charm, and the staff very attentive, friendly and polite. Our server was Josh, he took care of us as if there were no other customers. I enjoy Coza's well prepared and tasty food, the quiet ambiance and great service.
It sure beats the frachised places that serve cardboard cut-outs that never look or taste different.
Large open kitchen concept. Somewhat noisey as these type of places can tend to be. We were immediately seated for our 6PM reservation & drink order taken. The menu is large and consists of a a good variety of pasta dishes (unfortunately no linguine ala vongole), any which could have easily been shared by two, and a number of steak, fish & chicken entrees. Good wine selection including many by the glass.
Pasta are $15 - 22 & entrees are in the $22-29 range. They also do a number of sharing plates where you can mix & match pastas & entrees in the $17 - 19 per person range.
Everything comes with salad & tuscan bread. It was a birthday celebration & my daughter was brought a complimentary dessert.
Tab including a shared appy, 3 drinks, 2 pastas & 2 entrees came to $150 incuding tax. Everyone was satisfied & enjoyed the meal.
If anything could be faulted,, it would have to be the pace of service. I couldn't put my finger on it, but it was slow, whether intended or not. Would return.
We have been going to Coza for a long time now, and I felt it was high time I reviewed it so other people could enjoy the food. The ambiance is good, and the restaurant always has a relaxed feeling to it. The menu prices are high (ranging from $20 to $30 per entree), but all meals include unlimited ceaser salad and unlimited bread. The food is delicious, and the staff is always willing to make any substitutions to your meal. They will make your meal the way you want it.
The staff is polite, and always willing to do everything possible to ensure that you have a good time. This is my favorite restaurant to go to when I have some extra cash, and I highly recommend that you give Coza a visit.
Went there for dinner with a group of friends last week. This restaurant was not our first choice, but Olive Garden across the street had a 1hr and 45mins for our party of 17 at 6pm, so we gave up after a 45mins which got us nothing more than group of anxious and very hungry people and went across to street to Coza. We actually called a bit before we went to make sure they were able to accommodate our large party, which they happily obliged, and they had our table ready in no time.
We were seated as soon as we were over there. Good service, friendly server.
Everything on the menu looked really good and I had a hard time decided. Finally, I decided the Angel Hair and Scampi because I really love angel hair pasta and it's hard to find a good place for it. All our entrees came with caesar salad and freshly baked demi-baguettes with a basamic vinegar and olive oil dip - delicious!!
All our entrees came at a very reasonable time given they had to prepare them all together. My angel hair pasta dish was done very well. The pasta was al dente, just the way it should be. There was a good amount of tiger shrimps on plate, and they were also very well-seasoned. Loved my pasta, but the only thing I would change about it was perhaps to ask them to go easy on the capers, because there was A LOT of them (and most of the were left on the plate after I was done)! We ordered a large variety of dishes, and they all looked very good. No complains from anyone at the table.
I also decided to order the tiramisu for dessert along with a few of my friends, perhaps a little too ambitious of me because the portion size of both my entree and the dessert was a fairly good size. My tiramisu was very goooooood!! And I was drooling over some of the other dessert the others were having too...lol!
Would certainly go back to try the flatbreads and the scampi and lobster linguini, along with their other dessert choices. Given the ridiculously long wait-time at the pasta place across the street, and the delicous food I had at Coza, this is definitely my go-to place for good pasta in Langley!
My wife and I again dined here ((July 1, 2011) and were very happy with the overall experience as we have been in the past. Being a long weekend it, like many other entertainment and dining venues, was not overly busy. We were shown to a booth immediately, and the waiter was very prompt. Our orders were received in a timely manner and our waiter was excellent. Now the test. The food. Very good. Tasteful, good sized portions. We enjoyed being able to talk without overzealous staff or noisy diners. This is a brief review as we found everything to our liking. I rate it several levels above the nearby Olive Garden, which in my opinion is over rated.
In fact, I was so pleased I asked for the manager so I could personally say thank you for our experience. Try it.
We've dined at this restaurant several times now and have always experienced great, professional service and delightful appy and entree dishes. It had been a while since we'd been to Coza! and were craving Italian food (we're NOT chain fans, but Langley's full of them and options are limited.) We noticed right away the menu was new and updated and were delighted to see a few pasta dishes for under $18.99 along with a few additional vegetarian options (they are now offering their filone bread along with a ceasar salad starter with all entrees ordered.) We opted for the Lasagna special and a simple Linguini Roasted Garlic Alfredo. Starters took a good 20 - 25 minutes to arrive (we were dining on a Tuesday evening at 5pm, the restaurant was not at all busy) Food arrived probably 20 minutes later. Baked Lasagna was bland and unimpressive, the "Six Layer" dish was literally 4 layers of stuck together pasta followed with what looked and tasted like broken up meatballs with no seasoning whatsoever. Tomato sauce looked like plum tomatoes poured straight out of a can again, lacking any sort of flavour or taste, topped with cheese and baked....my husband ate it, not because he wanted to, because he was hungry. Linguini Alfredo was overcooked (this is one thing I always credited Coza! for, every dish I've had has been cooked al dente) so I was disappointed right off the bat, sauce was okay, but there wasn't enough of it, and the dish turned gluey pretty quick. Overall not a great meal. Lower prices shouldn't mean reduced quality.
.. . and I don't like Olive Garden hahahaha
I've been here twice now. The last time I went was okay but it was nothing outstanding. I ordered a ceasar but it was too spicy (and i'm asian, so I LOVE spice) so i requested a new one but even the second one was just mediocre.
Not alot of vegetarian options and I don't like cream sauces but I did manage to find one entree that caught my eye. Overall it's a good place to hang out with friends, the drinks are what you would expect, the food was average, but was it anything over the top? Probably not. On a plus side, I think every entree comes with salad and bread, so if you're starving when you get there you'll get food before your entree. I would come here again but this restaurant will not be on my regular rotation of restaurants to eat at.
We have been meaning to try this place, every time we drive by... Yesterday, in Langley for shopping chores, we finally made it..
It was lunchtime, but also Turkey Day - Thanksgiving, so it wasn't busy. We were greeted and seated promptly. A nice room, open and spacious. No crowding between tables, which is always nice. While it is a big room, there are two levels, and several "areas" to break up the space. Nicely done, and a clear view of the prep and pizza area outside the main kitchen... a bit of culinary action to watch! Restrooms were quite spectacular, down to automatic switches on EVERYTHING in the women's. Quite a novelty!
The Other Half had spicy seafood capellini, I had bistecca with gorgonzola toast, roasted veggies and a green salad. Their house Sangiovese was very acceptable, and they provided complimentary, crushed tomato-and herb dressed crispy flatbread. The OH had tiramisu for dessert and I tried the dessert "bellini" with prosecco drizzled over gelato and sorbeto.
All the food was very nicely done. Lots of seafood (clams, a prawn, salmon, a white fish) in a nicely spicy tomato and garlic sauce on the al-dente capellini. The steak was perfect, tender and flavourful. Gorgonzola toast was small, but packed a mighty taste...yum! Veggies were whole tomato and asparagus, grilled perfectly. Salad was simply mixed greens, but with a balsamic vinaigrette that was just right. Tiramisu was like home-made - excellent. The frozen "bellinii" was refreshing and intriguing. There were chunks of peach in it that were frozen too solid...the only "hmmmm?" part of it.
Service was attentive and friendly. As it was not so busy, they had time to check back often, but that was not intrusive at all. An excellent lunch - not cheap, but worth what we paid; we will be returning to try dinner.
We were here for dinner last evening with family. Reservations had been made a few days before but they somehow lost our reservation. They did seat us right away however so it turned out to be not too big an issue on this occasion. It they were busy it would have been a problem as we had a rambunctious 4 year old with us.
Service during the course of dinner was exemplary. Our server checked back frequently to see that we were well taken care of. She gave us an extra order or bread without any hassle and at the end of the evening she offered to split the bill for us which was a very nice gesture on her part. She was very cheerful and even handled my nephew very graciously.
All of the food that we ordered was very well prepared. I had spaghetti alla diavolo and it was nice and spicy. My husband had the Milanese pork chop and it was also very good, it was nice and tender and very tasty. The rest of the family had Flatbread and chicken. It was an interesting menu, a bit different from the usual Italian menus.
I would recommend this if you're looking for good Italian food in Langley that is not overpriced.
I haven't written many reviews because I just don't make the time for it, but, for this place, and to save whoever is reading this the unsatisfying experience, I just felt it was my duty to fellow foodies
Like many people that were there i'm sure, we were turned away from the olive garden due to the fact it's always super busy, and when we got to Coza, it looked nice inside and was just as busy, so i thought, obviously this is a great place too.. wrong..
it took about 20 minutes for the girl we ordered drinks from, we both got girly belini's.. which tasted like watered down minutemaid peach juice, but whatever, some places just don't make them good. so we ordered our dinners and started our long wait to food time. the free salad and bread was the one decent part about the meal, until the girl accidently poured olive oil and vinegar all over my shoes.. just put it on a plate like earls does, don't try and be fancy with an upside down cup. i noticed my order, the lobster and scampi linguine, make it's way to the warming area and take a seat while my girlfriends was just being started. she ordered the Spaghetti Alla Fra’Diavolo, which sounds great, but was not. our food finally came after 15 minutes of keeping itself warm and for the 26.99 that my bowl of 99 cent pasta cost, i thought i would be at least getting quite a bit of seafood.. i got 3 shrimp and a tablespoon of lobster. my girlfriends dish tasted like campbells alphabet soup..
if you're looking for pasta for dinner, seriously, spend the 2 dollars and get michelenas from the frozen section of safeway down the street, it will be 100% better.
Came here with the boyfriend last night, and loved the food, hated the service. The service was absent pretty much the whole time, so it was impossible to ask for simple things that could have made our dining experience a little bit better.
Every meal comes with unlimited bread and salad. The salad had a little bit too much dressing, but I enjoyed the tuscan bread! Couldn't find anybody to ask for more "unlimited" appies. =( I had the "Antipasto Platter Basil." It was delicious except there was only a slice of bocconcini =(
Next up was the Pappardelli with Spicy Italian Sausage, and the boyfriend's Coza! Signature, Spaghetti Trio. Mine was so awesome. So, so awesome. The sauce, the sausage, perfect. It would have been great if they offered some freshly grated cheese. The boyfriend's Spaghetti trio included pesto, alfredo, and meatball sauce. "Why choose?" the menu charmingly asked. He didn't get a spoon with his spaghetti, and no one checked up on us, so he had to begrudgingly eat it solely with his fork. lol He found it mediocre, but I liked their pesto.
Desert was a blackberry Pancotta, it was delicious and didn't make me feel guilty about my new years resolutions. The boyfriend agrees.
I can go on and on about how service sucked from beginning to end, but let me try to summarize it:
1) Four ladies behind the hostess podium thing saw us enter the place, but didn't greet us.
2) We received our appetizers before I received my Bellini. The server had forgotten, and so when she served, it had already begun melting. Did not offer to make a new one.
3) Absent of our server: our drinks, appetizers, entrees, or dessert was never checked on, and we were seated in a corner so we couldn't flag down another server.
4) Food runners were polite, but it'd great if they placed the dishes in front of us, and not randomly on the table. My bellini was served to my boyfriend too lol. It'd be great if they could wait for us to finish our appies before they come in with the entrees. (table isn't that big)
Bill came out to be $60, my boyfriend gave her $81 and asked for a ten back. We got the ten back in change. (Servers should only employe the give change in change method if they haven't been tipped yet!)
Even though the food was delicious (maybe even better than the Olive Garden!) I probably won't return, although I am a little curious on what else they offer on the menu. If you plan on going, try to do so not during a weekend night. Perhaps service and ambiance will be a little better.
Food: Delicious! I tried my friends' pasta dishes, cooked el-dente (sp?) and my own chicken dish was moist and juicy, nicely seared on the outside. What really impressed me was the small details added to each dish, like caper berries or plump black olives. These details are hard to find and I found out that some of their ingredients are imported from Italy. Also, best Tiramisu I've tried... EVER.
Service: attentive, friendly, and experienced even for a new establishment. I had to remind our server about my drink order, but given how busy it was, I can easily let that go... plus, she came back with not only my drink but a complimentary drink for my friend. I also saw that they gave away small slices of pizza to those waiting for a table... that seemed like a welcoming touch.
Coza's first impression on me was very, very good. Recommended.
Before you read this review, I have to tell you something. I think bread rocks. I eat bread three meals a day. I bake bread. I trade bread recipes with my friends. I talk about bread instead of the weather for idle conversation. When I go visit another country, the way I experience the culture is by going to a bakery and buying some of that country's traditional bread. Simply put, I like bread.
We discovered Coza when passing through Langley and wanted a quick lunch. Coza did not disappoint. My wife does not like pasta but there was plenty on the menu besides pasta for her to choose from. After much deliberation my wife ordered the antipasto plate with a garden salad, and I a grilled vegetable sandwich on ciabatta with a Caesar salad. My wife's antipasto plate even looked good to me, a vegetarian! Her salad contained not only the typical fare but also finely sliced cabbage, which she stated was delightful. The waitress told us that the cabbage was indeed very very fresh as it had in fact just arrived that morning. Apparently, it looked so good the chef wanted to eat it all himself. Fortunately, he saved us some.
Now, I will tell you about my meal.
On my Caesar salad, there were croutons, which are bread. Excellent. My sandwich (which was also excellent - just the right amount of provolone) was of course on ciabatta, which is bread. I also received a loaf - not a slice, but an entire LOAF - of Tuscan Bread. I'm not sure how this bread was made but now I have to figure it out, because it was phenomenal. The balsamic reduction with extra virgin olive oil made it even better. But here's the best part:
My wife does not like bread.
I was not required to share.
If there was a bread heaven, I was in it.
We'll definitely be back to Coza. Maybe next time, I could even get some bread there.
I went out to coza with my husband and another couple not to long ago and we had a wonderful time. We had made a reservation for a friday night, which most places do not take, and the hostess behind the front desk greeted us with a smile as soon as we walked in. We told her our name and she immedietly knew who we were and what table was reserved for us. Another hostess brought us to our table, pointed out the restrooms, as well as the wine list and all the specials they had for that night - martinis! Yum! After we got settled into our table, our server came by and greeted us and took our drink order. The drinks took a while, but I understand that it was busy and by the looks of it they only had one bartender on. Our waitress brought our drinks and appologized for the wait on them, then asked if we had any questions about the menu. She knew a lot about the menu, and told us which dish she liked the best. The table got a nice hot bread with olive oil to dip it in, and a delicious refillable bowl of caesar salad! Our Entrees took a while, but again, when it's that busy the kitchen can only make so many dishes at once. I had their Spagetti Diavolo which was very delicious! after we got our meals, our server came back to make sure everything was tasting all right and to see if there was anything else we needed, and if there was not to hesitate to ask. It was very nice because she wasn't constantly checking up on us, only when she needed to. We decided to share their Volcano Cake which is to die for, but very rich so I recommend sharing it with a friend.
When the bill came, the server had split it up according to couples which made things a lot easier for us, and let us know we could pay with debit or credit at the table, and that we could relax and finish off our cocktails until we were ready.
The one thing I didn't like was how low the booths were, I felt like a little kid sitting at my table, but they are spacious and comfortable.
I would recommend this establishment to anyone, the service was great, and the food was delicious!
This place was great when it opened. Ever since, the level of service, and the food quality has gone down bigtime. MANAGEMENT CHANGE NEEDED BADLY! They're obviouosly hiring kids with no experience to cook. After overcooked pasta, and bland flatbread twice in a row, not going back. Such a shame. It had such potential to be a great new Langley restaurant. I'll head across the road to the olive garden instead.
Stopped in for lunch with my mom. It was our first time here. It is really nice inside, I liked the open kitchen, made for a nice experience. Our server was very courtious, as we were seated. We ordered the smoked salmon salad, which my mom commented on was `very good`. I ordered the chicken reggiano ciabata with a side salad, also was very good. Nice fresh ciabata bread. Everything was very fresh. Very clean restaurant, will go here again, as some of the other dishes that passed our way to other tables looked very tempting.
If you are looking for something different than your average restaurant outing, I suggest Coza Tuscan Grill. It is definately not your run of the mill Italian places, the menu is very diverse and offers a great selection. I had the chicken and grape salad, which was served on a flatbread, very delicious and different. My other half had the steak and prawns, steak cooked to perfection. Good portions and very well priced. They also offer share plates, great for couples or groups and very reasonable. Service was also great, very attentive and friendly. Also, this is one of the few places that takes reservations, we were able to make a reservation on the day of and were seated upon arrival.
Went to Coza for the first time and ordered the steak and lobster. So tasty and decent value. The bar sure mixes some great signature drinks too!
The service was friendly and efficient even though we were a large party.
The ambiance is warm and inviting. The decor is tastefull and the seating comfortable. One of the managers even dropped by to check on our dinner, which was a nice touch.
Will go back!
My husband and I are both foodies and for this reason have nowhere to eat in Langley. Sad, but true. The food is usually quite pedestrian and the servers are dressed like they have another job (on the corner) after service completes. Coza however, was a very pleasant surprise. We were greeted immediately and remembering that this was our first visit from the conversation I had when we made the reservation, the hostess pointed out the restroom location as we walked to our booth. Doesn't seem like a big deal, but the fact they actually made an effort didn't go unnoticed. The restaurant is larger than I thought and unfortunately does have a bit of a "chain" feel. Too bad about the television and the wood back chairs. Also, what's with the lighting? The chandeliers were bright enough to perform surgery if you wanted. The menu stays traditionally Italian which is nice, but might be a bit too big. Wine list was another pleasant surprise, a key factor whenever we dine out. I had the anitpasto misto and the sliders, my husband the chicken which he didn't care that much for unfortunately. Service was outstanding, our server very responsive & genuine. Upon pouring the first glass from our 2nd bottle (don't worry, there were four of us) a foreign object in the glass caused her to replace it. Moments later she returned with a small carafe to replace the wine that was spoiled. Nice touch indeed.
So in conclusion, I think we wouldn't hesitate to go back should we decide to be dining out in Langley. A good spot for the girls after a movie.
