Popular hangout for locals in downtown Langley. Family run with a variety of food including burgers, pasta, sandwiches, and schnitzel. Small model train travels around the restaurant near the top of the ceiling.
We have been here a few times and have always enjoyed it. The kids love the train that goes around the whole restaurant (up by the ceiling) The food has been great. I always have the fish and chips and have really enjoyed them. You get your choice of reg fries or curly fries and the service was excellent always. The prices are on the bit high side but we often go there for someones bday as if you sign up they will send you a free meal coupon (if you go with someone else) for your bday up to 11.00. Not many restaurants do that. Im sure we will go there again come by birthday.
My daughter and i come here when we're craving good fries and appies. I always order gravy on the side when i order the fries, my only complaint is that it's $1 extra for a teeny tiny little dish of gravy. But the gravy is great so i suck it up and pay. The wings are yummy as are the onion rings...actually the onion rings are the best i've had. No greasy batter! They are soaked in buttermilk and breaded, crunchy and fabulous! We also enjoy the smoked salmon dip with bread for dipping...i can't say the prices are great but it really is a fun place to eat, the quality of service and ambience make it worthwhile for us.
And save room for dessert...not being big appetites, it's something we never manage to do...one day...one day we'll come JUST for dessert.
We decided to try Choo Choos based on recommendations from other parents, we were not disappointed. Yes the prices are a bit much, we thought so checking the menu online and were surprised everything was a dollar more when we went in. We had a coupon that gave us 11$ off and it was still over $50. But everything was made fresh in the restaurant the patties, buns, fries, mothing was frozen like many family restaurants. The fried pickles were tasty and the macaroni sticks were amazing, but the burgers were definitely the star. I got the Choo Choo burger, which was a double bacon mushroom cheeseburger with 2 kinds of cheese and BBQ sauce. It filled half the plate and I needed to cut it in half because I couldn't get a proper handle on it.It was served with a mountain of fries all for around $16-$17.
Beyond the food was the atmosphere. We sat in the train room, which has two train tables and bins full of toys for the kids, along with a train running around the ceiling and a full train diarama. The kids had a blast and talking with other parents in the room they said ita the only place they bring their kids.
So to sum it up, great food, good service, fantastic atmosphere, but its up to you if you think the price is worth it. For us it was.
My wife had a Clubhouse, Fries and gravy. nothing bad , nothing outstanding. Gravy was very poultry tasting. Not what we expected, and very thin.
I had the BC Benny
Eggs are poached nicely, they were done drop in water style, which in itself is very good, but they were completely permeated with a vinegar taste.
This completely ruined the taste of the whole meal as the vinegar over powered the taste of everything else.
Tasted individually, the shrimp and salmon were ok. The sauce, whatever it was supposed to be was not a hollandaise, as a matter of fact it had no real flavor at all. There was no taste of butter ,lemon or anything really.
I did tell my server that the whole meal tasted strongly of vinegar. They did nothing, not even an apology.
So overall NOT a place I would recommend or return to
