Char's - the best in the Lower Mainland!

This little known restaurant located in Aldergrove is the best food anywhere in the Lower Mainland, comparable to anything Vancouver may offer, for a way better price. The service is friendly, with very outgoing staff. You'll be greeted by one of their waitresses, or the owners, but where else do you get the chef coming out to greet you and offer you his daily appetizer creation to try? .....for free too!

I started going to Char's about two months ago and enjoy their company at least once a week. It's decorated like a nice pub; not real fancy, but the food is incredible! It's served in the most appealing manner and the taste is unbelievable. The salad's are great, oyster Rockefeller is to die for and their schnitzel is perfect. Hand-picked veggies daily, along with fresh fish, meat; all from the local markets and in-season!

Sunday brunch is as many different kinds of eggs Benny that you can think of!

I've taken several people there and have recommended it to many and would highly recommend it to you. I'm a single lady, often dining alone and have always been welcomed like one of the family!

Try it; I know you'll love it!

Thanks again guys . The Oysters Rockafeller accompanied by a couple of Doug's Special martinis are what great tasting food and good service is all about. This was my fourth visit to Char's and I've always left there very satisfied and wanting more.

See ya soon!

Poor Service

We went to Char's because we wanted to support a local business. What a disappointment. When we arrived there was a car in the parking lot with sever young people in it smoking marijuana, so needless to say we were a little apprehensive about leaving our car in the lot. After entering we were seated at the window. About 10 minutes after receiving soft drinks we ordered an appetiser. After finishing our appetizer, we just sat and waited. The table next to us asked us what our appetizer was as it looked good. We had ordered calimari and it was good. We waited and waited. The table that had asked about our order received their appetizers. we had still not had our dirty dishes picked up. Then when the table next to us started to receive their dinners we had had enough. We had been sitting for about 30 to 40 minutes waiting for our waitress to return, we did try to get another servers attention but were ignored. We got and proceeded to the register to pay for our drinks and appetizer. The hostess was not with the program at all. We asked for our bill and she stated that we get our bill from our server. We stated that if we could find our server we would probably still be sitting eating. We related the story to the hostess. The manager who was visiting with customers did not seem to care to come and talk to us, as per our request. VERY DISAPPOINTED WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE.

After dining at this establishment this evening I had to voice my opinions a sthey aer both positive and negative and have found a page to do so.Upon entering we were greeted in a very timely manner and felt the warmth of the restaurant right away. Needs a bit of updating but very cozy ambience over all.Service was a bit lacking and kind of slow but sweet nonetheless.I think she may have been overworked at the time of our arrival with the whole 4 other tables present.
The speed and quality of the food however was something you very rarely see these days.It was hot and all the componenmts of both our appetizers and dinner courses were great. You can tell everything that we ate was made there wich is what you don't see very much these days.My biggest complaint is that what is with all restaurants these days not having owners or management working on every shift. When me and my huisband left we got to the frront doors and smelled cigar smoke, not very appealing upon exiting a great dinner.Well when we opened the front door what has to be one my biggest pet peeves was the bartender standing in teh entrance with a cigar in his hand.I really don't know why hospitality staff cannot get it throughthere minds that customers do not want to see them eating, drinking and definately not smoking while they are working and if they are going to why on Earth would you do it right in the entrance of the establishment.

Just my 2 cents worth...actually closer to 100 $ worth and over all well worth it!

Located at the old Creekside venue is now Char's bar and grill and what a change has been made. The decorating and changes to the dining room are and were much needed.still have a bit to do with the decor but teh changes that have been done are great. The lounge up front is an incredible place to sit and watch the game and have afew beers and some snacks with friends.

I can honestly say that I have never had better bruschetta ever and I eat it everywhere. The sauces on it are top notch.Alsop had Ahi Tuna cooked in sesame seeds and it was very very good.We have been 3 times in its short time being open and haven't had a bad experience thus far.....Exactly what is needed out here in the valley,a non chain restaurant that continuously puts out good fare at great value...Great work to the owners Chef and staff...We'll definately be back
