Since 1984 C-Lovers Fish & Chips has been serving fish & chips and other seafood produced in their open concept kitchens. Only the best quality, freshest ingredients are used like hand selected Alaskan halibut or our locally grown farm fresh kennebec potatoes.
Well the food is pretty consistent. Food is hot and good. One night we went the server was AWFUL. she was so slow to come take our order and we had all you can eat and never came back to ask if we wanted more or refill our drinks. It was not busy so that was not an excuse she was flirting with some guy in the back and talking to other waitresses. Anyway this is disappointing as we like it there but she was a horrible server. One another note wait staff there normally are so good!
I saw this plce when we were looking for Future Shop. We decided to drive back and give it a try, since me, the boyfriend and my sister all love fish and chips.
The food is very good. I agree with the first poster, they give generous portions. I always order the halibut platter. It includes one hot bun with butter, one piece of halibut, 3 (or 4) prawns, 2 pcs of oysters and chips. The oysters are fantastic!! If they think one of the oysters is small, they would add one more. But (there's alsways a "but"), I've had better tartar sauce.
All the times that we've been there and it was busy, we were greeted and seated right away. The food is always served in a timely manner. But sometimes, the servers are too shy. But it's ok.
AYCE fish and chips for $11 and the the platters with generous portions, I think it's good value. That's why we keep coming back.
Overall, I recommend people to go there.
My group are regular customers at C-Lovers - we are usually there once a month or so. The "all you can eat" is plentiful and hot and a decent value. The ambiance is pretty blah, not terribly comfortable or welcoming not my cup of tea - my group is all about the food. My concern is with their group "gratuity policy" Having had this incident happen twice and having spoken to the manager it's something people should be aware of. I (or my staff) bring in a small group of 6-8 clients, who are on a very fixed income. Depending upon the waitstaff, gratuity has been added to our bill because we are a so-called large group.(when I spoke with the mngr. he couldn't really tell me what their policy was) The fact that tip is already added to our bill was not brought to our attention nor mentioned at any time. Most restaurants add gratuity if it is a group over 10 or 12 not 6-8 and not in a restaurant of this caliber. The waitress who does up our bill is well aware that gratuity has been added but is more than happy to accept the second tip without making any attempt to make sure we were aware it was already included. A $30 tip for a $120 bill at C-Lover's is a bit excessive! Incidents like this make me really not want to go back to a restaurant/store and if it wasn't my clients favorite place- I wouldn't. For their sake we'll go again but I will be sure that my staff are very aware that this double-dipping is a sometime occurrence at this restaurant and to be vigilant as should everyone else who dines here - I'm sure we're not the first to be caught unaware.
Came here as a mistake as we meant to go to another restaurant in the area, but got lost and decided to try this one because we were hungry. We walked in and noted that it was busy for a Monday night. The fish tank was clean and the fish looked healthy. We both ordered the 2 piece of Halibut and chips. The pieces of Halibut were huge, a lot bigger than either of us is used to, so we both could have been satisfied on the 1 piece meal. As for the taste, I like my fish and chips a little greasy and these weren't, so it's a good restaurant for those who don't like greasy fish. The french fries and gravy were good. They brought us buns and butter before the meal and to our surprise and delight, the buns were hot(!) and fresh baked. We may return or recommend it to others.
We've been to the C-Lovers in Coquitlam so we decided to try the Langley location for a business lunch on a Tuesday. I was surprised it was mostly empty but it is a bit off the beaten path. The service was prompt and good and the place was very clean. I started with a chowder which was just so-so but I just wanted something warm to start. We all ordered 2 pcs Halibut lightly battered (not too greasy) and were very happy with the food. All-in-all we were quite happy with this location (not as busy as the Coquitlam location which is nice) and would definitely go back next time we're in the mood for fish'n'chips.
