They are gone

Submitted Tuesday, July 13, 2010 - 7:50am [Dine in]

Does anyone know where these people have gone to, I went there on the week-end and it was all locked up, I was so disappointed. I drove from Kamloops and was looking so forward to this restaurants after reading all the reviews.

It says its now a Kingsd chinese restaurant and it was all locked up at noon on Friday so I assume they are not there either

I am writing this as a review because all the pople that have gone there but know if they opened somewhere else.

I just love Tai and would like to try this place if they are still in business

four years and still a favorite

My family and I have been going to best thai for over four years. I still remember the first time we went, I was hesitant to go in because it looked like a fortress on the outside...

The seven members of the family together have tried almost every dish on their menu. Our favorites include beef lettuce wrap, green curry, cashew chicken and pork and green beans. When we order delivery we usually get the combo for six because the portions are so big that even seven of us can't finish all the food! There was once when our office ordered a lot of food for our staff party, best thai was so thoughtful that they packed everything nicely into containers and used large boxes for my convenience. The server even brought everything out to the parking lot and loaded the boxes on to my truck for me! They always welcome us with a genuine smile, even on the weekend when they are busy, they still make sure they come by our table to say hello and give us the personal recognition.

I am asian with thai ancestry and although I must say some of the flavors have been altered to accommodate different expectations in North America, their food contains all the essential great flavors of thai cuisine and is always made with the freshest ingredients.

Last time I went I overheard them talking about their lease expiring next year. I hope they are going to renew it because I am sure I won't be able to find another great thai restaurant in the neighborhood.

These are wonderful people who work very hard to bring us a pleasant dining experience. I highly recommend this restaurant to you if you are looking for genuine service with top quality thai food.

Sincerely,
Joan P.

Really is Best Thai

I was introduced to Thai food in Hawaii at a fab place. Came home with a lust for it. Tried a few places and was not quite satisfied. Then tried Best Thai. Best thing I have done. The outside is not reflective of the inside, which is nice in an asian style, but then it was the food I was interested in. The service was very friendly, efficent, and timely. The place is clean, a mom and pop operation. After a few trips trying different things all of which were very tasty, I settled on 3 favourites. The boneless chicken in green curry 25, the very large stir fried tiger prawns with pineapple in red curry 50, and the chicken pineapple rice 42. Quantities that had two of us taking some home, and all fresh, hot and delicious. Washed it down with Singha beer. Been many times since and the place is never very occupied, but they do seem to have a very busy take out/delivery. I drive 20km each way just to dine there, and have taken many friends who also got hooked. For two, finished this feast for just $40. Just love the place. You owe to yourselves to give it a try, even if it looks outside like a stone fort.

One of the best thai restaurants I've ever been to. The food is always fresh and tasty, portions are generous and service is consistent. They seem to do a lot of take-outs, the atmosphere is very relaxing and the decorations are nice. They have big parties at lunch time when they serve $7.5 lunch specials, we've tried their dinner combinations as well, we've never been disappointed! Highly recommended!!

I went to dine at this restaurant last night with my family of four. We had very good prawn dish and chicken sewers that were done perfectly. The service was fast and prompt, and our waitress was very attentive to our questions. The atmosphere was uncomfortable because of the old decoration. However, this is one of the better Thai food I've had.

I was at a friend's house for dinner about 2 weeks ago and she ordered from Best Thai Restaurant. It was AWESOME!! We got spring rolls, Pad Thai, green curry with chicken, and some red curry dish (cant remember which one) anyway we were all so full we couldnt get up.

The next night I was at a different friend's house (im not a transient, really) and we ordered from there again! Got the same thing I just couldnt get enough! Yummmmmmy. Plus the price is right.

Then my husband and I were going on a date. I said I wanted to go to Best Thai. He said he has driven past that place and did not want to go. I said we are going! That was my first visit and I have to say looks pretty dingy on the outside. The inside was nice enough- not fancy, it looked like a typical family owned, family run restaurant. A little hokey, but very clean and the service was outstanding. Again, the food was top notch! Plus I brought home leftovers and had them teh next night. MMMMM im craving it right now! Seriously!

I will return again and again

My Husband and I were driving around one day, and we stopped by this Thai restaurant in Langley on glover road, and are we ever happy that we did!
The service was quick, and the person that served us was very kind and helpful. The food was served promptly, and it was scrumptious. Yummy....We got the combo for two which was $29.00, and we still had some left over, because there was more than enough. We are going there again tonight and taking my Brother from Seattle Washington, as he loves Thai food. My mouth is watering as I write this, so we will see you there sometime....I would definitely recommend this to everyone and anyone who wants a very enjoyable experience with service as well as taste! Enjoy!!

We recently moved to Langley, and I have to say drove by this restaurant several times. We were afraid to try it because it doesn't exactly look that nice from the outside. If you can get past that, we thought it was wonderful. The portions are huge - my hubby and I order 4 dishes, and we always hav enough for dinner at the restaurant, dinner the next evening and lunch for me the next day. We are big eaters too!! Our favourite dishes are the Chili Rice, Cashew Chili Chicken, Mixed Vegetables and Fried Tofu in Black Bean Sauce, & Pad Thai - We have never had bad service or a bad meal here. We go at least 1-2 times a month. I hope you will enjoy this place as much as we have!! :)

It may be a little bit out of the way, but well worth the few extra mintues to get there for the food. The closest to traditional Thai food we have had since coming back to Canada.
The Thai Spring rolls are incredible, I could eat a whole plate of just the spring rolls if my wife would let me ! All the food so far has been very very good. Decent portions, great service. We have over heard the wait staff describing to other table what the food is like and what spice levels are rated like, and even in some cases steering certain guests away from food they certainly had no idea what they were ordering.
Very good place to also come for lunch, they have a &7.50 specail that includes soup/salad/spring roll and rice and 1 entree that is fast and filling.

Average Thai to try

Thai food balances 5 flavours - sweet, salty, sour, spicy and hot. We hoped that the food would match this evenly. However, we found the green chicken curry too sweet and the stir fried veggies and prawns too salty. The spring rolls and chicken satay were good, though.

Service was attentive before and during the meal. However, we had to go up to the cash to get our bill after waiting to catch the server's eye. The restaurant was not very busy - only five tables occupied in a very large restaurant.

Not a bad experience, but green chicken curry is not difficult to make. Will try other Thai in the area before we come back here.

We discovered this place two weeks ago and have been back twice already! The food is so flavourful and good: we LOVE the green curry and prawn dish included in the dinner for two ($29, also comes with spring rolls and chicken skewers and rice). The service is always friendly and there's fun Thai decorations all over the place. You have to try this place!

my personal preference for Best is in Abbotsford on clearbrook but if you arent into driving 30 minutes from Langley this is definitly very tasty and yummy. I ordered the 38A veggies with prawns.. and black been sauce with rice. my wife ordered curry something or other.... we both really enjoyed what we had. I ordered the same dish for take out today and my only complaint is it was a little smaller than the version they serve when you sit down... but that being said the version you get when you sit in is really big :) could feed 2 people easily. :) very tasty.. We drove by this restaurant for years because from the outside it looks terrible with its little castle type entrance and no windows.. once inside it is clean and the food is very good. so its a definite must visit.

On our way out to Fort Langley for their eerie nights right before Halloween, we wanted to get a bite to eat beforehand. Since we love this place anyways, we wanted to grab a quick dinner here before braving the ghosts and ghouls inside the Fort. We were running behind as usual so called the restaurant on the way and pre-ordered our favorite dishes so that they would be waiting for us when we got there.....which they were. Got to the restaurant and they had everything ready to go, piping hot on the table, as requested even though they were quite busy. How many restaurants would offer such service???
The food as usual was amazing. Flavorful, authentic, healthy, delicious!!!! Can you tell I'm a big fan? Please if you are ever in Langely give this place a try....they are exceptionally nice people who work very hard to bring a positive and authentic dining experience to us suburbanites.

My husband and I stopped in to Best Thai on a Friday evening. As others have reported I have driven past this place many times but have been reluctant to eat here because of the outside appearance of the restaurant and lack of windows. We were pleasantly surprised when we entered as it was a very big and a very cozy little restaurant. The decor is a lil tacky but cute at the same time :) We arrived at about 5:00 pm and we were the only ones dining there the whole time we were there but there were a few takeout orders. Let me start with the service. The young lady that served us was so friendly ! I have been to many thai restaurants and the service is usually awful so that's what I expected at Best Thai. My husband and I both agreed that she went above and beyond and was very friendly and sweet. We used our entertainment coupon and ordered to start chicken satay. It was awesome as it was served with a homeade peanut sauce. For entrees we had red curry and green curry. They were both very good and healthy and fresh. We had so much leftovers. My husband had 3 servings of the dish with rice and then we ordered another order of jasmine rice to go and ate a dish when we got home and the next day for lunch. Our total bill came to $24 with the savings of our $10 entertainment book coupon. Very good value. We highly recommend this restaurant. We will be back. Thanks Best Thai !

Great tasting, fresh food and an extremely friendly staff make the Best Thai Food one of our favorites! We have ordered both take-out and dine-in from Best Thai and have NEVER been disappointed. Staff both in the restaurant and making the deliveries are always smiling and make the dining experience all that much better. Some of our favorite dishes include the Pad Thai, Kai Curry and Pineapple Fried Rice... all of which are outstanding.

As other have mentioned the building itself is not the nicest looking structure in town from the outside, but that is easily forgotten after tasting the food and dealing with the servers.

A+

Why is this place so quiet!? After driving by this restaurant a few times, questioning the food that lay behind the odd windowless exterior, my curiosity got the best of me and I checked it out. I’ve dined here twice now and been delighted each time. The last time we dined here we were the only diners and the other time there were only two other tables of diners. The interior is tastefully decorated Thai style and the cheerful yellow walls help counter the effect the lack of windows has upon the atmosphere.

Being a quiet place, I naturally expected that the food would be reheated and sitting around, lacking freshness but on the contrary the dishes are filled with crisp fresh veggies and ample meat/seafood! I’ve been to Thailand and even took a Thai cooking class there so I have an idea of what real Thai food should taste like and this place is great. Super yummy and the prices are very reasonable for the quantity and quality of food you receive. Like the other reviewer, my partner and I order extra and take it home for lunch the next day. I love the placemats that have pictures of spices used in Thai cooking and their properties.

The staff are very nice and service is prompt. They seem to do a lot of take-out. Please check this restaurant out because I really want them to stay open and they’re a refreshing change from the multitude of franchise restaurants in Langley.

We really wanted to like this restaurant and the people are certainly friendly, BUT, this was hardly authentic and seemed more like glorified chinese food. We ordered take out, the combo I think (see, not very memorable) and all I can say is it was on time. Other than that, totally forgettable. My husband picked up the food and said he would never eat in, apparently burning insense or some other strong smell would be unbearable to sit and eat in. It's too bad, we really like Thai food! Won't be back.

Name says it all, BEST Thai Food!

Submitted Sunday, December 2, 2007 - 6:25pm [Dine in]

Since first discovering this great little place nearly 3 years ago, my family and friends have made it our (at least) monthly tradition. Of all the Thai food in all the cities I've been to (MANY) this is simply the best - HANDS DOWN! The staff is amazingly friendly, remembering every one of us when we return, and the exact dishes we like, and how we like them prepared. The prices are very reasonable, and the portions are usually much more than we can fininsh in a sitting. (Many take home containers usually)

The only weak point is the atmosphere, which is strictly a matter of personal taste. Everything in the restaurant is very traditional, from the food to the decor. If you enjoy authentic Thai-style decor, you'll enjoy the atmosphere as well. It's quite a large place, with plenty of seating for large families, banquets, and cosy enough for an intimate dinner date.

I can't say enough good things about this fine little gem of a Thai restaurant!
