I work out in Langley and thought I would try a new place for lunch. After I looked up a couple of places and asked some people they said the usual, Boston Pizza and what not but I wanted something different. So I looked up this pub read the reviews, which aren't that great but I like what people normally don't. I went in the next day and at first just loved the appearance/decorations of the place. Because it's a heritage building and had a heritage burger I thought why not try that. It was the best burger I have had at any restaurant/pub. I was not expecting it to be as good as it was becuase of all the reviews. I brought a couple of my friends a few weeks after that and we all had our own meals and we all loved the food. I will be going back for sure and for anyone who is looking for a new place to try but is afraid because of these reviews go and try it, the food is great, service was really good, price is okay (not the cheapest place but not too expensive either).
I have been on this site for the very first time because I felt motivated to review Baron's Manor Pub! I am quite suprised at the negative comments here! Did these people go to the same place that my friends, family and co-workers went too??
Our group has been going on and off over the last 2-3 months! It's very cozy there! We love the food and we all have our favourites, ranging from the calamari, onion rings, and chicken wings to the fish and chips, weiner snitzel and veggie burger!!
I highly recommend this place and will be making this pub a regular hangout:)
We walked in sat down and proceeded to wait 15 minutes before my husband got up and went got our own menu's, waited for another 10 minutes then went up to the bar to ask where we could place our order. The waitressess didn't even acknowledge that we were there. Bartender took our order and sent a waitress over to look after us. We watched the manager walking around and then proceed to stand in the middle of the room to watch tv instead of helping his staff. The overall decor was lovely, the overly loud music did not suite the style of pub. Food was tasty when we got it. A little on the pricey side but the drinks were reasonable. I sent an email to the manager expressing my views on my first visit but never did receive a reply. I'm not in any hurry to rush back and I certainly won't bring my clients there for a business lunch. Perhaps they should consider new Management, hire someone who is more aware of what is going on around him or her.
A friend and I stopped by on the weekend for a late lunch. I found the overall design and layout of the Baron's Manor to be quite attractive, and there is ample parking. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and did a generally excellent job. Both food and beverages arrived promptly. My one quibble would be that after reviewing the menu I'd say their prices are definitely on the high scale, especially considering it is a pub. Most items seem to start in the $10 to $12 range and go up from there. However, the portions of our meals were ample and I found the food to be very tasty and attractively presented. The prices are a stinger but the service, food, and general atmosphere make a return trip an easy consideration.
Langley is really lacking in the gastro-pub department so I was excited to see that there was a newer pub that called themselves gastro. I've been here on a few occasions and their food is far far from gastro. The food is your typical pre-made, frozen pub food.
The service here is just ok and a few times that I've been here it's been borderline bad.
Ambiance is nice and it's a cool looking heritage building with traditional English style low ceilings.
The value is your basic pub value.
Let's just say that I have tried this place twice now and both times were very mediocre. Lunch for $12+ is just a little too much for mediocre pub grub that came cold after a very lengthy delay. The first time, they wouldn't accommodate my request for half fries, half salad. I don't mind paying more but if you are going to charge the prices that they do here, you need to give a higher level of food. Interesting and elaborate decor which probably explains why the food cost is so high.
This is a new local pub and I've been here a couple of times. Haven't had bad experiences, I enjoy going just to have a burger and a beer after work. The building is actually very nice and gives you a good home-like feeling. I recommend everyone to try it. The prices are average just like all other restaurants. MUST try the Heritage Burger my absolute favourite!
Was our fourth and last time we go to this pub..We went the first week it opened and everything was very good.. Service food and ambience you couldn't ask for more.. the next three times we waited 10-15 minutes for service and the worst thing was IT WASN'T BUSY.. The last staw was last night we go in and get a seat out on the deck.. The place was dead a total of four tables filled in the entire pub.. There was one other table on the deck and the waitress walks out three different times to take care of the two ladies..After 10-15 minutes I made direct eye contact with the waitress who then says she will be with us in a few minutes,, We hadn't even had drink orders taken. A couple minutes later we decided to leave and when walking out she was standing at the food counter waiting for the food to come up.. MANAGEMENT WAKE UP Another couple up and left as well..
Atmosphere nice. Good service. Good choices of beer.
My meal was disappointing. The quality wasn't quite what I had expected. I felt it wasn't geared toward what the customer wants. Bigger portions charge more doesn't go over well with me. The only thing that was okay was that the meal was on special.
I left feeling I wished I'd stayed home. I won't be back.
I am always on the hunt for great pubs. When I drove by and the sign said now open I thought it was the perfect opportunity to stop for lunch. Upon entry we were impressed by the ambiance of this place. It is gorgeous inside and we hoped that the food would reflect what they have clearly invested here.
The menu had a good variety and there were a few items that I would have liked to try.
The disappointment soon came though. They have no Keno yet, a fun thing we enjoy at the pub. Then there were limited cider choices. The server was pleasant, but average. Our meals again, average.
I asked to substitute yam fries and was told that was no problem. When the bill came $2.50 had been added. I was annoyed that the waitress had not mentioned there would be an increased fee, and she simply replied that it was in the menu so she could not deduct it from the bill. I expressed that it was somthing I thought she should have pointed out.
Steak sandwhich was $12 so another 2.50 made the meal overpriced for a small pub. The All American Breakfast (I believe was the name) was served with ham, the ham was sliced deli meat. I would have expected a real slab of ham. Breakfast was approximately $10, again a little overpriced for what was served.
All in all this is a pub not worth going out of your way for. If you are in the area and are not too particular, it is a mediocre place to stop.
Food 1/2 was cold not that great anyway. Service was slow & not that great. Staff seems nice enough just slow.
As for pain staking restoration as a Designer I was looking forward to seeing it & was really disappointed. Design choices- it was not so much restored as tried to make it look like it was. Unfortunately not that succesful. Nice pictures of the time period.
Kind of a waste could be so much better, everyone in party food was @ best adequate so none of us will be back. Better places where ambiance is better and so is food & service.
There are not a lot of heritage buildings around, the story behind this pub is very interesting, you guys should really take the time out and read the little newspaper beside the door enterance. I was very excited to eat at this pub, it met my expectations. The food was great, the place looks nice, and the waitresses were very friendly. A great place to eat at with friends and family!
The portions of food are generous and there is a good variety. I have been 3 times and have tried the following:
The Prime Rib special is very good with the German fried potatoes and the red cabbage. I also tried the Mushroom pork schnitzel and would say it is mighty fine. I have eaten schnitzel in Germany and can safely say this is just as good. Tonight I had the bratwurst dinner which I would consider as good as the
bratwurst I cook at home. Service was friendly and efficient.
Outstanding value when you consider the daily specials. Where else can you get great Prime Rib for nine bucks? The beer is also included in the daily specials.
Finally a pub that serves something a little different from the regular fare.
Ambiance is outstanding. Any carpenter types will appreciate the quality finish
of the woodwork inside.
I would strongly recommend this pub to any of my friends.
Went to Baron's Manor as all other restaurants were busy and thought we'd try it. Food was really good, prices were average service was okay I think there was only one waitress on so service was kinda slow. Had the steak bites appetizer and they were the best I have had yet. Love to know the recipe if anyone has it.
