I have lived in Langley a long time and finally gave Andreas a try a few months ago. My husband and I ordered takeout, and thought the food was mediocre at best. The service was really good, on both the phone and when my husband went to pick up the food. No complaints there. HOWEVER. Last night we decided to give the takeout another go. Bad mistake. I ended up at 2 a.m. trying not to throw up. All I can say is that the food this time around was even worse than poor. It was downright disgusting. We have tried twice with the Greek salad, and both times have been very disappointed. Bland is the best I can describe for it. Which is a heck of a lot better than I could say about the Tortellini dish I received. Right away I noticed it was lukewarm, even though my husband was there to pick it up 20 minutes after we had given the order. After the first few bites I noticed a weird taste, which I attributed to the sauce. It tasted almost sour. I added some red pepper flakes, hoping that would make a difference. Not. I then asked my husband if I could taste his own sauce, which was on the Rigatoni. His sauce definitely tasted different than mine, even though we both had the meat sauce. I then cut into one of my tortellini and took a good whiff. WHEW!!! There was the culprit. Something was absolutely RANK in the tortellini filling. Supposedly it was meat tortellini, but the stuff in the middle just looked gray. I almost threw up right there. Instead I threw out the rest of my dinner, as well as the takeout menu we had. Never again.
Went here for a friend's B-Day celebration with around 18 people. The decor is outdated but warm. The service is ok considering how many people where there. The food itself was not too shabby. Not something to rave about or go out of my way there....but edible. I had the Andrea's lamb dinner and my better half had the lasagne dinner. There were 4 pieces of lambchops. That were size of a normal coaster. They tasted pretty good. The rice pilaf was ok with some steam vegetabes. I found the steam veggies a bit overcooked and old. The greek salad was good with a lot of feta cheese. The lasagne was ordinary. It tasted something out of a can. The meat was almost non-existent. The garlic bread was soaked with butter but not too much garlic in it. Overall my experience was just satisfactory. I will not go out of my way to go there but I might give it another chance in the future.
Most of the time I do take out from Andreas although I have dined at the restaurant before. The place has a nice inviting feel for families to come along as well as bringing your date along for a nice meal out. They have TV's to watch hockey and UFC for those sports lovers too.
Most of the time I order a pizza so i can only comment on that food, and being at lots of pizza joints this place has the best tasting pizzas after Golphis. I usually order from Andreas every 2 weeks and are my preferred choice for wanting Pizza.
The service is very good, you can see the staff are working hard to get everyone's meals and inquiries even though it gets very busy there a lot of the time.
Overall Andreas has a very nice inviting old fashioned feel which older people will love to bring their families and younger ones to bring their date. The food is delicious, the waiting time isn't too bad about 15 mins, the service is good and value is about as good as what you get. Defiantly recommend coming here!
As for the other reviewers that i read, there is one guy near the bottom that gives the restaurant 2 starts but continues to say that he has been going there for 20 years! well wow must be better than 2 stars..
Its a great place to go. the staff are super friendly, and have been employees there for much time. as for a family owned restaurant, sure the ambiance is dated, however, its a comfortable place to go. The food is always fresh and everything is cooked to order. the prices are Very reasonable. Cant go wrong with the restaurant and tehy also do takeout and delivery
My mom an I went to Andreas for supper, I ordered a Mediterranean steak medium with a Greek salad my mom ordered lamb. My Greek salad consisted of lettuce and peppers a few old olives and the blandest feta cheese I have ever had. My steak was cooked perfect too bad I couldn't enjoy it due to the barbecue sauce that it was smothered in, tons of rice very bland . My mother's meal was much the same. The first table we were placed at had such terrible lighting we asked to be moved, the next we had was beside a table that had a partition between us, we ended up listening to an older guy trying to whoo one of his staff. Too close for comfort. On top of that we had a counter near us that the staff dumped all the dirty dishes on , I wondered why they would leave a growing pile of dirty dishes right there in the dining room? The whole time we were there no one bothered to remove the dishes. Even if I was offered a free meal there I would never go back.
Last night a neighbour invited us to Andrea's for dinner. Unbeknown to me, they are running a month long steak special for their birthday. Steak, potato (or rice), mushrooms, garlic bread, and choice of soup or salad. Cost less than ten dollars. They also of course have a multi page menu. The parking lot was jammed and I now know why. We timed it so that a number of tables were being cleared upon our arrival so our wait was less than ten minutes. Very friendly staff too. It was one of the best steaks I have had in years. A real bonus is that you get your steak cooked the way you ordered it! Reminded me of the Keg when it first started in North Vancouver. It was so busy we were asked if we wanted to eat in the overflow area where large parties are usually held. It is not the best decorated room I have ever been in but I was there to eat, not critique the decoration. It was like a big old fashioned party. Great fun and wonderful food. Our friend explained that the original owners had sold the place and it had gone through some rocky times. Apparently the original owners are back and I recommend going there for Greek, Italian, pizza, steak, etc. Job well done. Thank you!
This is one of Langley's hidden secrets! mmm mmm
The portions are HUGE! the menu selection is HUGE! Something on there for everyone.. seafood, pasta, pizza, steak, greek etc etc.
Service is OK.. the place is huge and the servers have allot of running around to do just to get to the kitchen and back to your table.
Very clean place to eat at, everyone seems fiendly. All in all a great place for the family. I reccomend it!
I work in an office and we do large lunch orders frequently. This is the second time we have ordered from Andrea's and we didnt happen to have a menu on hand. We were told there was one in the phone book and we found a different one online but there were no lunch specials. I called in to see if they were able to fax over a copy of their lunch menu to which she responded, "Ummm our fax machine is broken so NO.", I then asked her if she could maybe just tell me the specials so I could write them down. She responded, "I dont know what you want for lunch today so no I cant help you." then proceeded to hang up the phone. Another person called in the orders and didnt have any complaints. Nearly an hour and a half later our lunch had still not arrived. So I called back in to make sure everything was ok with the order. The woman who answered the phone told me, "We have one driver working all the time, so be more patient it will get there when it gets there." and then again hung up the phone before i could respond. I have never been treated so horribly by someone I am getting food from. The total from our order was over $90.00 and you would think they would like the business. Dont even get me started on the food, my rice was over cooked my chicken was dry, the sause had exploded all over the bag on the trip and my greek salad had no dressing on it. not to even metion that everything was cold because it took almost 1 hour and 45 mins to get to us. Overall maybe I just have bad luck but no one in my office and definately me will NEVER been ordering again and will be sure to tell other people about this dreadful service.
I've been going here since I was in a high chair, now that I am old enough to order from the bar I can say with confidence I love everything in here. The food is always good and done properly, if not it is always rectified. I love a restaurant where you can go have a birthday dinner at or come in dressed in sweats and you receive the exact same service. The servers are always seasoned and know their menu, there is just one issue I have with this restaurant... the hostesses!
I have been in on a couple of occasions where I have been insulted by a hostess. One girl looked at though she was on drugs because she was shaking so much, spilling water on sister's lap. Another girl threw down our cutlery- touching the USED end of it! When I said "thank you" to her, she responded with an awkward laugh and a "whatever." I wish they would hire girls that had potential of serving, and training them to BECOME servers. Though, its evident all the serving stay there HAVE to have at least a decade of serving before they can get hired there. I've worked in the food/beverage industry for many years and I found that is the only way you can get good hostessing staff. Maybe if they had some younger servers as well as the seasoned ones they'd grow a larger cliental also?
Okay so I have eaten at Andreas for about 20 years now. I have no clue why I do because everything about this place is just wrong. The Owner's need to stop treating their staff like we live in a third world country for starters. Their restauraunt has not changed a bit in 25 years and you might say " REMODEL". The staff are under paid, grumpy and just plain miserable for the dine in experience. My last visit i was told by my server she hates it there and wants to assault the owners. NICE!!! As ar as take out goes EVERY TIME i order for delivery it takes 2 hours and my ORDER IS ALWAYS WRONG> seriiously. Over time their pasta has gone to hell and the only thing they have going for them is their Pizza. I will give them that. I'm sad that North Shore residents even go there. The Owners are awful, rude and their version of customer satisfaction would be ignoring you until you leave.
THumbs down awful
Whenever im in the mood for greek food i immediately know where to go. The food is amazing and you get huge portions so you wont leave hungry. The servie is pretty good nothing to complain about but nothing to compliment either. the place is decorated alright but the food is great. if you feel like eating greek then go here
I walked into this place expecting big things from the past reviews. I was completely wrong.
This place is a zoo on the night I went - it was so busy. First thing I noticed was some random "foliage" inside this place. I have no idea what that was about, its like I was eating in a forest. This place definetly needs to renovate ASAP.
The service was decent we got seated promptly and the food came out quickly. Probably because the kitchen is just churning out pre-cooked meals.
I had the Greek lamb chops, they were undercooked since I was not asked how I would like them, one side was brown while the other seemed to be sitting for sometime and had a light texture to it, the greek salad was tomatoes and pretty much nothing else, the rice seemed like it was sitting for a few days and re-heated. My girlfriend had the steak-special for $10.99, it was the worse cut of meat I have ever seen, nd everything was served with a huge portion of deep-fried bread...nasty.
The service was decent but just the bare minimum for any place. I would not go back here again. It just shows - you get what you pay for.
I've seen some recent upgrades in regards to the service. Actually just stepping out pickup my takeout order. Service was great on the phone and my daughter cant wait to eat her "Sketty". Everytime we are near the restuaruant and/or lonsdale she will say she wants "sketty". Great food, place and family eatery.
This restaurant has been in Langley forever. Over the past 10 years we have dined in and got take out.
We ordered pizza for take out just a couple of weeks ago. It is fantastic. If you love a thick layer of cheese on your pizza this is your place to eat. And it is excellent cold the next day. If i doo reheat it the next day, I find that it is better to use the toaster oven over the microwave. Then it tastes like it is fresh.
We have also dined in the restaurant. The decor is interesting. Spacious with fake plants. The furniture looks like it has never changed. The waitresses have a long walk from the tables to the kitchen. It has always been clean.
This is a good place for quick meals - nothing fancy. Kid friendly. And they give out fresh bread to take home.
They serve food and it tastes good.
Staff is friendly and fast.
The bread and booze is good and should be enjoyed by all.
The pasta is better than some places and the water is unmatched by other places in the area.
I recommend the fries and remember to ask for gravy.
This place has been there for awhile and that says alot about the food.
I love this place. We usually go during lunch time hours. The food was great and plentiful. The service was friendly and we enjoyed our time. We loved the fact that when you leave they often give you a loaf of fresh baked bread. Worth a trip just for that. The lunch menu is cheaper than the dinner menu. The decor there is quirky. Everywhere you look you see plants. We usually are seated pretty quickly when we go there. We were very happy with our experience so we try to go back often. We love it there.
I have been going to Andreas for years, and the food is always great. The best value I have ever seen would be the Greek platter. It cost $36, and can easily feed 4 people.
The service is always great. Staff seem to know what their doing, and rarely screw up orders.
The best time to go would be in march, as it is their anniversary. They have a steak special for $9.99, which fills the place up in a hurry. This is about the only time where you have to wait for a table on a Friday evening.
The decor is how you say "outdated", but it fits in with the classic food. The plants are kind of tacky, and the whole place is aging. This place seems to be a favorite hangout for seniors, and I'm usually one of the youngest people there. You cant blame them, because the food is such great value.
Overall this restaurant is a Langley classic, and i will continue to go their for many more years.
I had called in in advance to book, but they said it was walk-in only. when we got there, the wait was almost an hour. Once we got the table it took 15 minutes to get water or any kind of acknowledgement that we were there. The appetizers came at the same time as the food. while the portions were big the quality was mediocre. If you are looking for Greek food, I suggest you look for another place that has it's menu limited to Greek not Italian, Greek and whatever else they could fit in it. The ambiance is country diner and the floor and furniture seem to from the 80's plus some dieing green plants all over the place.
We had actually seen this place and drove by it so many times and had always said we should stop in and try it some day! So one day when we had a babysitter we went out for dinner there and it was great! The food was awesome, service was great and prices weren't bad at all! Would recommend it for sure! I also know a friend of mine orders pizza from there quite often and has nothing but good to say about it! Next time we go we'll have to try out the pizza:)
