We tried this for the first time, and treated my parents to dinner for a special occasion.
Everything we had was really tasty and fresh. The server was lovely and very attentive. It is also an attractive restaurant. Agave is a good place for a date night or with a group of people for drinks and food. You must try the fried icecream, so delicious!
We have been to the Agave Grill twice for dinner. The first time, we left disappointed. The second time, very satisfied. I will admit, we discussed our concerns with Carlos, the manager. He listened to our comments and stepped up to the plate.
Agave Grill occupies the old Waterstone location. It has a couple of very nice rooms that never had a chance before. With the current menu and Carlos at the helm, I think it has a good chance of success.
After sitting down, you will be served a basket of warm, fresh tortilla chips and homemade salsa, just like the Mexican restaurants south of the line. They have all of the tequila drinks that you would expect from a Mexican cantina. Unfortunately, they don't quite make the grade. I'd love to send Carlos down to La Guadalahara in San Diego to see how a Margharita should be made. Oh well, we are north and they are south.
The food is another story. The dishes are tasty, reasonably priced and plentiful. Service is good, however, we found as the restaurant got busier on a Friday night, some of the staff were running and having a hard time keeping up. Good to hire a couple extra staff, and make sure needs are met. I should also point out that there was a table of about 20 celebrating a birthday party just behind us. Still, what better place to do it. They just need to be sure to have the staff to service groups like this.
If you haven't been, check it out. This is a fun place and we need more like it in Langley.
Heard bad things about this restaurant, so thought I'd check it out for myself. The ambiance is great (low lights, good music, spacious & comfortable seating). My first thought is that it's a great place for a first date. The service was perfect. The food was great but not plentiful... they're more about presentation than size. Overall, great place for a quite week-night out. Best tasting Mojito around!
We made the mistake of coming here for the second time, this time with friends, assuming the new name meant new management (this was previously called Waterstone). Boy were we wrong. Same rude staff. Same bad service. The only thing that has changed is the menu, which is borderline mediocre, and not even close to being Mexican cuisine. We've been burned twice by this place, and won't be going back ever again. There is nothing worse than paying good money and being treated like a second rate citizen. Perhaps the staff who work here should take a moment to realize that they are in the "service" industry. Good luck Agave, rest assured we won't be sending any business your way.
