Lisboa Bakery & Grill is a Portuguese Bakery offering bread, cakes and other baked goods along with deli items like sandwiches, chicken and more.
I live near the Willamsburg village area and am able to walk to this restaurant - it's in a new quaint little village surrounded by different shops and businesses. Unless I'm on holidays I usually reserve comment until my third visit. I'm getting nervous though because after strike 3 (re: disappointing visits) I won't go back. to a restaurant. I really don't want that to happen here and I think it really has potential to do well. The first strike came during a lunch visit - first let me tell you, this place is a Portuguese bakery yes, but they BBQ chicken over hot coals and they serve fresh cut fries - a combination that should give Swiss Chalet a run for their money. But Lisboa drops the ball, that lunch I had, I'm sure I got chicken left over from the day before - dry as a sand box. The fries were great, cooked crispy and they put a delicious spice on them. There is one young server there - pretty girl too, but she just seems mad all the time - she is really abrupt, almost to the point of being rude, I don't think I have ever seen her smile. The other staff seem quite happy and content though. I honestly can't believe they have her serving customers. She is a good worker but she does not have the personality to be interacting with customers in my opinion - she generally is behind the counter taking orders but she's just flat out mean. I was back again today and she is still there with the same lousy attitude. She told me they only had dark meat today, so I ordered that with fries again. I could see the chicken cooking behind her and asked how long for white meat, she said quite a while - as I was leaving the chicken was coming off - I would of waited. The piece of chicken they gave was dismal - I had five bites off of it - it was good but come on , $12 for one little piece of chicken some fries and a can of soda - at least give me a second piece when they are that small. And, last time I checked this was a bakery - give me a Portuguese roll please and some butter - you have hundreds for crying out loud. This place should be packed and it never is... I know it's because people are having a hard time recommending this place to friends. It just does not live up to expectations - it won't take much - a happier staff, a good size piece of chicken (or 2) and a roll please - even Swiss Chalet (not a bakery) gets this right. Oh, and the fries today - what happened, not fully cooked and no trademark spice you usually put on - be consistent please. My wife and I sometimes just go for the fries they are so good - or were, I hope that was just an off day - I'm not counting the "just fries" visits on my strike count - just the full meals. We have 1 strike left and I have yet to recommend this place to anyone yet ... I hope after the next visit I am able to do that.
When is a Bistro even better than a than a Bistro,....when it serves Portuguese food!!!
A couple of months ago a friend of mine from Cambridge brought me to Lisboa
for lunch knowing that portuguese is one of my favourite foods, I wasn't disappointed.
The ambiance, the service and the menu is par none in the K-W area for casual dining.
Serving everything from Bifana, Galinha, to Polvo their menu is amazing and affordable.
Although I live in Brantford it's well worth the drive whenever I can, so if you're a fan of
Portuguese food you will be in for a real treat. The Desserts are awesome!!! :):):)
Lisboa is definitely one of my favorite places to eat in the KW area!! The food that is served here is always outstanding... & I am determined to make my way through all of the Portugese meals that are offered on the menu... Not to mention the delicious display of cakes and deserts that are offered!! I have eaten at Lisboa on several occasions and I will continue to keep going back!! Not only is the food amazing but they have set up quite an enjoyable atmosphere!! I have been to Lisboa several evenings this summer, where they have had live local music playing... and I have sat out on their patio having a few drinks with my friends!! I have also enjoyed watching several football games both inside and out on the patio... It is a nice change from going to places that always have hockey or baseball on there tvs!! And if you think it cant get any better than great food... live music... and football on the tv... It does!! The staff at Lisboa are like a little family that you just want to keep going back to see!! They are always pleasant and the service is outstanding!! The fact that there is a bad review on this site about the staff at Lisboa... shocks me!! All I ever see when I walk in the door is smiles amongst all the staff... especially the young lady who is often preparing the chicken!! She has such a sense of humour and seems to really enjoy being at work... which is rare in the food service industry these days!! I will continue to go back to Lisboa... to eat the amazing food... watch the football... and visit the friendly staff!! Lisboa is a great addition to the Williamsburg plaza and I hope to see it grow!! I strongly suggest this restaurant to anyone who is looking for great food... prompt service... and friendly staff!!
