I tried this small restaurant the other day and ordered the quarter chicken dinner and I must say it's the best chicken in town. You can tastes the care and effort in the rotisserie, it is much better than larger restaurants like Swiss Chalet. My friends and I sat on the patio and were attended to right away, we also got our drinks as soon as we ordered them. Our food did not take long to come and when it did was very hot. I wouldn't listen to the negative reviews, I find those people were just overly picky. And when you go into a place with negative thoughts prior to, you'll surely seek them out too. Try this place out, I found it so wonderful. It has a great community like atmosphere and homely environment! Thanks for a new spot to dine out Lisboa! :)
Went through the drive through a little blondish girl was working spoke to me like I was keeping her from something more important, told her that the lights on the drive thru menu were out and she was dismissive at best. I ordered 2 Junior Bacon Cheeseburgers the meat was dried out, I was legitimately concerned about how safe it was to eat it was wrapped so tight it was practically folded in half. Some big guy in glasses, possibly a manager was distracting her, and this isn't the first time for this location most of the girls that work here are rude and discourteous. I'm not sure if this is a corporate store or not but they need to do some serious housekeeping and get out these rude lack luster staff memebers. I am a big Wendy's fan, but I would rather go to the Mc Donalds across the street and eat what passes for food there before I am treated rudely at that Wendy's again.
I had an amazing time when I went to this Boston Pizza, from the food, the service, and the way I felt like family. The food was delicious and came out quickly, as well as our server was fun, and always happy to help. I had an awesome time at this BP and I will definitely be going back!
tired of giving this local bistro any more chances. We really have tried here several times because the chicken is yummy (most of the time), however it is so hit and miss with different problems.
first.. refills on your $1.60 are free only with specials, not with your regular priced meal
second. have gone there and there is no more bread to go with yur meal
third. the in service while pleasant is so so slow. extrordinarily long waits even for easy meals
fourth. if it says your choice comes with a particular side, you will pay for that even if you don't take it. The quesadilla appetizer (it really is in that column) comes with fries or onion rings but if you opt out of a side you pay same full price
think I'm done trying to like this place, can easily find the grocery part in many different places
the food, hey , theres lots of choices...no more lisboa for me!!
I am a regular at The Corner Pub and am very upset that the only reviews that ever appear are negative. Why would someone go to a karaoke night and then complain that it was all Karaoke? I am not a singer...I can, but don't sing because I ENJOY HEARING VERY GOOD SINGERS AND I AM JUST AVERAGE. Randy has many very good singers who follow him from venue to venue because he has a very good show. Yes he like most of us can get a little rude sounding but that is just what it is. He may sound rude to some but does not intend to be. If he was rude all these people would soon find another karaoke spot to go to. As for the music not suiting all the customers...that is one of the joys of Karaoke. Every singer has his preference so you are not likely to have a whole night of Standards or Country, you get a little of every genre.-that means something for everyone but in Karaoke form.
Singers often have to wait an hour or more for their turns in the rotation. They would go elsewhere if the host decided he or she was going to put the radio on or become a DJ for any length of time. Go to a bar that does not have Karaoke if that is not what you want to hear. Simple as thatsince there are lots to choose from!
As for the food. Emma and her staff do an amazing job in that tiny kitchen. They produce great food with lots too choose from and at very good prices. If someone said they have very little selection i would say they have a manageable menu and in fact when they first started I told them they were very ambitious to offer so many options especially for breakfast with the limited kitchen they had to work with. |They prove me wrong all the time. Exceptions happen of course. Staff may not show up for their shifts and restaurants all suffer from this but many have large staffs and can cover easily for the missing man. Emma has minimal staff and manages to continue serving good food as fast as she can. Staffing more heavily would be possible with more room to manoeuvre and consistent crowds of customers but one day the place is standing room only the next it may be only half full.
This is a Corner Pub...they serve alcohol....but don't think for a minute that if I am there at 10:30 in the morning or 2 in the afternoon that I am unemployed or that the others there are either. The people assessing the patrons must not have heard of shift work, people who work outside the 9-5 Monday to Friday or early retirement.
You get all kinds of people here. I work in an office, my friends who also frequent the Corner Pub range from retired teachers, construction workers, truck drivers, accountants, factory workers and people who on disability pensions who would much rather be working and of course lots of retirees. Come out often and you too will become a friend.
The friends have been known to move over and join another table just to give a newcomer a table, they’ll share their newspapers with you too. I like the fact that I am a woman and can feel safe and comfortable going into the Corner Pub alone. I don’t know of any other “bar” that serves alcohol that I can say that about. I know when I go in there will be regulars who will make me feel welcome and that the staff knows how I take my coffee, the way I like my eggs and whether I want brown, white or rye toast.
If you happen to go in when one of “those” moments happen in the kitchen try and remember the cooks are the same as you and I. They have “days” just like us. Remember they are not hidden away in the back somewhere where you never see how your meal is being created. So yes you may see or hear something not meant for your ears or eyes. They don’t have the comfort of hiding nor the time to go vent out of ear shot or eye sight. If you think they should be perfect let’s see you be perfect all the time…then try doing their job. I have worked in customer service over the years….it is one tough job and most people couldn’t be paid enough to do it. These are people who do it for payment most people wouldn’t work for.
I won't even start on bartenders and their jobs.
You have got to be kidding with these prices. It is one thing to charge so much for wings, but when they are so small and hardly any sauce, this is ridiculous. Then to charge extra for sauce that was not put on in the first place. This place used to be where it was at, not any more. We should have picked up on that when there were not all that many people there on a normally busy day. We did notice that no one else was having the wings and no wonder. I asked around to others that were regulars and they have all noticed a change and not for the good of customers. Take it for what it is worth, there are a lot of places where you get great wings at much better prices. We can not return.
Ordered a pita and a drink. The total came up to nearly $10 . Being a man of interest i asked for every topping that was offered. Was Jipped on every single one. Im talking two strands of shaved carrots kind of jipped and the person who was servicing me was noticeably mad that i asked for such an "absurd" request. When i asked for a little extra cheese i was replied to with an abrupt no then was asked to pay extra for it. All in a very disrespectful manner. Forgot to mention the person filling my pita up was the owner of this franchise location. Good work bud! NOT ever coming here again. Also, i was with 3 of my friends who ordered a pita and a drink as well. That would be $40 dollars worth of business in a short amount of time that was given to him and he couldn't spare a little sprinkle of cheese, tsk tsk.
This had been my go-to pizza restaurant for the past 2yrs, & they keep getting better! Tommy's wings are delicious & are meaty, unlike those puny wings most other pizzeria's sell. I absolutely love their crust, & the toppings are always plentiful, the amount of cheese they put on is comparable to double cheese at other places. Delivery time is always less than the quoted time (usually 1/2hr.), & the food is always hot & fresh, & in the 2 years that I've been ordering from Tommy's (at least twice per month), I've never had a bad experience.Keep up the good work Tommy's!
The food was decent BUT there was lack of service and the waitress have very bad attitude and very rude to my children b/c they made a little mess, as little kids do. Half the time we have to serve ourselves, like asking for water, asking for condiments and once they bring your food, don't expect to see your waitress after. I will never go back!!
I went to Pho Ben Thanh at the London, ON location on the evening of May 30th, 2012 with my boyfriend for dinner. What a mistake! We had the most UNACCEPTABLE experience there ever. I am not one to complain nor have I ever wrote a “review” for anything however this experience leaves me so flabbergasted I couldn’t help but try to make others aware of the HORRIFIC customer service there.
I have had pad thai from many other restaurants in the area with great enjoyment. When I was presented with the one from Pho Ben Thanh I was overcome with great disappointment. I calmly informed my server that I didn’t like the pad thai at which point she started to verbally attack me in a loud voice in the middle of the restaurant for all to hear stating repeatedly that there are so many other people in the restaurant who order this dish and I am the only one who is complaining. It was made obvious to me it was ‘my fault’ I didn’t like this dish. I calmly asked if she would be able to return this dish so I could order something else instead since I didn’t like it. She continued to speak in a loud and disrespectful voice for all in the restaurant to hear that she cannot do that because she would get in trouble by the management and be made to pay for my returned dish herself. I asked her then if I could speak with the management and was told they weren’t present. I asked if I could leave my phone number for them to contact me with at their convenience and was declined my ability to do so by the server. Becoming upset at this point I informed the server this was the worst customer service I have ever received and could not believe I was being treated and talked to in this manner in the middle of a restaurant. I didn’t care at this point if she had to pay for the dish herself or not after how she had been treating me so disrespectfully and I told her I was not going to be paying for this dish because I was not going to be eating it. She then informed me fine she would take the dish off my bill but again made it clear she would be punished for doing so and it would be coming out of her pay.
I am an owner of three independent businesses myself personally and am appalled that someone would show such disrespect towards a customer in a public way over something that is not their fault and that they were calmly bringing to a servers attention. I would never treat any customer that would walk into any of my businesses in any manner even remotely in the way I was being treated at this restaurant and if I found any of my employees doing this I would have them terminated immediately.
Unless you enjoy being verbally harassed loudly in public STAY AWAY from Pho Ben Thanh!!! I will be making it a point to spread this word publically in a variety of manners in hopes of saving someone else the humiliating experience I was made to endure at this restaurant.
The food here, what limited options you get, are sound. I don't know if they have an online menu, but check it before you go.
The place has a bit of a schizophrenic atmosphere, because it's called a "pub" but the owner considers it a "restaurant". Well, what is it? Can I swear here? Can I bring my kids here? Basically, you can't do either.
The owner may have her opinion but here's mine:
There's nothing high class about it so don't expect fine dining if you come here. It's located in one of the sketchiest parts of Kitchener so, if you're a hippy or social experimenter, then yeah, you can probably get some entertainment out of the company who happens to drift in. Maybe me, love to meet you!
Functionally, it really is a pub, as is advertised on the nameplate outside. "PUB" to me means a place to drink booze and meet people casually over a few drinks. That's exactly what this place is, and it's cheap. You can get food here that's better than "pub food" but certainly less than gourmet or restaurant food; and the prices are cheap. It's close to the Delta Hotel but that's it. Probability says that this place is mostly full of seniors and random unemployed people; management seems to be a bit hostile to the younger gentrification type. That being said, it's no reason for discouragement.
It is not gay friendly and unless you're a local you will probably feel unwelcome here.
Resturant is very dirty, they need to hire someone who cares about this location. My shoes stuck to the floor, The garbage was overflowing. Behind the counter the floors are littered with coffee grounds, fallen french fries etc. The machines behind the counter looked like hadn't been wiped for weeks. All in all this is a very bad representation of what a McDonalds is suppose to be.
Very good food! Lunch menu from $6.99, which gets you soup, entree, 2 spring rolls and steamed rice. I had the fish with green peppers in black bean sauce and my colleague had the kung po chicken. Both dishes were very tasty with lots of food. The ingredients were fresh and pltentiful. Highly recommended!
Huge selection of ice cream flavours, sherbets, sorbets, frozen yogurt (lemon sorbet is fantastic!)
Milkshakes are thick and creamy, apple fritters are made to order and served hot. I ordered 2 dozen apple fritters and brought them into work, nice change from the usual donuts!
Soft serve cones are creamy and delicious, 6 dips to choose from. Chocolate and butterscotch are the only ones I tried so far, don't know about cotton candy and blue raspberry cone dip, maybe I will bring in my niece and nephew to try those!
Overall, really great place to bring family, date, friends
When is a Bistro even better than a than a Bistro,....when it serves Portuguese food!!!
A couple of months ago a friend of mine from Cambridge brought me to Lisboa
for lunch knowing that portuguese is one of my favourite foods, I wasn't disappointed.
The ambiance, the service and the menu is par none in the K-W area for casual dining.
Serving everything from Bifana, Galinha, to Polvo their menu is amazing and affordable.
Although I live in Brantford it's well worth the drive whenever I can, so if you're a fan of
Portuguese food you will be in for a real treat. The Desserts are awesome!!! :):):)
Lisboa is definitely one of my favorite places to eat in the KW area!! The food that is served here is always outstanding... & I am determined to make my way through all of the Portugese meals that are offered on the menu... Not to mention the delicious display of cakes and deserts that are offered!! I have eaten at Lisboa on several occasions and I will continue to keep going back!! Not only is the food amazing but they have set up quite an enjoyable atmosphere!! I have been to Lisboa several evenings this summer, where they have had live local music playing... and I have sat out on their patio having a few drinks with my friends!! I have also enjoyed watching several football games both inside and out on the patio... It is a nice change from going to places that always have hockey or baseball on there tvs!! And if you think it cant get any better than great food... live music... and football on the tv... It does!! The staff at Lisboa are like a little family that you just want to keep going back to see!! They are always pleasant and the service is outstanding!! The fact that there is a bad review on this site about the staff at Lisboa... shocks me!! All I ever see when I walk in the door is smiles amongst all the staff... especially the young lady who is often preparing the chicken!! She has such a sense of humour and seems to really enjoy being at work... which is rare in the food service industry these days!! I will continue to go back to Lisboa... to eat the amazing food... watch the football... and visit the friendly staff!! Lisboa is a great addition to the Williamsburg plaza and I hope to see it grow!! I strongly suggest this restaurant to anyone who is looking for great food... prompt service... and friendly staff!!
I live near the Willamsburg village area and am able to walk to this restaurant - it's in a new quaint little village surrounded by different shops and businesses. Unless I'm on holidays I usually reserve comment until my third visit. I'm getting nervous though because after strike 3 (re: disappointing visits) I won't go back. to a restaurant. I really don't want that to happen here and I think it really has potential to do well. The first strike came during a lunch visit - first let me tell you, this place is a Portuguese bakery yes, but they BBQ chicken over hot coals and they serve fresh cut fries - a combination that should give Swiss Chalet a run for their money. But Lisboa drops the ball, that lunch I had, I'm sure I got chicken left over from the day before - dry as a sand box. The fries were great, cooked crispy and they put a delicious spice on them. There is one young server there - pretty girl too, but she just seems mad all the time - she is really abrupt, almost to the point of being rude, I don't think I have ever seen her smile. The other staff seem quite happy and content though. I honestly can't believe they have her serving customers. She is a good worker but she does not have the personality to be interacting with customers in my opinion - she generally is behind the counter taking orders but she's just flat out mean. I was back again today and she is still there with the same lousy attitude. She told me they only had dark meat today, so I ordered that with fries again. I could see the chicken cooking behind her and asked how long for white meat, she said quite a while - as I was leaving the chicken was coming off - I would of waited. The piece of chicken they gave was dismal - I had five bites off of it - it was good but come on , $12 for one little piece of chicken some fries and a can of soda - at least give me a second piece when they are that small. And, last time I checked this was a bakery - give me a Portuguese roll please and some butter - you have hundreds for crying out loud. This place should be packed and it never is... I know it's because people are having a hard time recommending this place to friends. It just does not live up to expectations - it won't take much - a happier staff, a good size piece of chicken (or 2) and a roll please - even Swiss Chalet (not a bakery) gets this right. Oh, and the fries today - what happened, not fully cooked and no trademark spice you usually put on - be consistent please. My wife and I sometimes just go for the fries they are so good - or were, I hope that was just an off day - I'm not counting the "just fries" visits on my strike count - just the full meals. We have 1 strike left and I have yet to recommend this place to anyone yet ... I hope after the next visit I am able to do that.
Stopped for a lunch break.
The gyros was excellent.
Souvlaki cannot be beat.
Fresh cut fries are delicious and served hot.
My food was prepared fresh and quick.
Would highly recommend to everyone.
Best Greek food in town.
I am a frequent customer.
Every order served up with a genuine smile.
Prices are very reasonable.
Located at 1572 Victoria Street North Kitchener, ON.
5 Stars! All around.
Great little Pub
Great Prices
Great Specials
Great Patio
Some of the coldest draft around!!
Spoiler Alert - This is a pub not a restaurant....it has good pub food(however no deepfryer - so no wings/fries)
And for the homer who reviewed this place complaining about the prices, only getting a loonie, and being dumb enough to pay them for tap water....You need to get out more often
$4 a drink is not high at all(that is tax in)....don't know what math you came up with to figure you're giving the 25% tip or 50% tip....it would only be 25%...
if you bought 2 drinks $8 and happen to get a toonie...that would still only be a 25% tip if thats what you leave them....give them a tip after you have gotten a few if its a problem....or ask for quarters....
This pizza place does have good pizza, but don't cross the owner. They were forever getting my orders wrong. Putting Pepperoni and mushrooms on a pizza that was ordered to have ham and bacon. How you get that mixed up I’m not sure. When I phoned and complained they said they would send out a new pizza. After already waiting an hour for the first order to show up, I sure wasn't going to make my kid wait for the second order to show up in order to eat dinner. I gave her two pieces. When the owner Tommy showed up with the second order, he absolutely flipped to see two pieces gone. Yelling on my front porch loud enough for my neighbours to hear, demanding the second order back. I threatened to call the police in order to get him to leave. I've worked in customer service for a long time and there is one golden rule, the customer is ALWAYS right! That rule never wavers. Not only should they have apologized, but they should never have asked for the first order back. It was their screw up and theirs to fix! I've never come across such an unprofessional attitude from a business owner before. He definitely needs to keep that anger in check or he’s going to run his business into the ground. Great pizza but at what cost??? You’re better off ordering from a more civilized place of business.
