The truth is I do not have a sweet tooth per se, but I do enjoy well made pastries and the girlfriend and I believe we have likely found the best source in Kelowna.
On the outside it looks like any other pastry shop but on the inside, the conspicuous whites and simply decorated design draws you into the window displays at the island showcasing their delights.
We didn't know when we would be back so instead we went a bit grand on the picks. For cakes, she picked the Opera, a layered cake with a ganache glaze, a classic black forest, a hazelnut chocolate, a brownie and a Fraisier strawberry shortcake. The assortment ranges from pillowy light to densely rich yet lacks the intense sweetness or heaviness from crudely prepared alternatives. We also picked up a few brioche buns, flaky croissants, an apple and raisin danish, the incredible frangipane and a housemade pate for lunch. As good as the cakes were, the frangipane with the almond paste filling is a must buy item.
They are a bit lacking with over the counter staff as 2-3 people with a lengthy order slows down the lone staff up front quite a bit. Still when we were finally able to order, she was incredibly friendly and helpful with selection choices and recommendations. Another small but appreciable gesture is that they tape the bottom of the cakes so they don't slide around inside the box.
Sandrine also has a small selection of meat pies, sorbet, quiches, soups and sandwiches and even take home duck confit so I'm sure we'll have to make the trek back. Recommend.
