Our party of seven had lunch at Old Vines on Tuesday, July 28th. The server was disinterested, surly and almost invisible which was only made worse by the length of time from our order to receiving our food (over an hour). After having to inquire twice about our order, it arrived but the food was disappointing. The $9 fries were soggy and cold, salads were limp, and the portions were relatively minuscule. The manager apologized for the service, but the excuse that they were busy (the restaurant was only half full) fell flat. The misses on almost every aspect of our visit indicates a managerial problem. The 15% reduction in the bill by the manager did not make up for a special lunch with seldom seen friends.
Perhaps the restaurant has become complacent and relies on the tourist trade, knowing that most of their customers are just passing through.
One of the best dining experience! Food was fresh and quality was amazing. The seafood linguine was superb. Great balance of flavors, adequate portion and plating, all ingredients were complementary. The beef tenderloin penne was to die for. The masterful way of masking the beef with red wine gave it a slightly earthy taste that combines well with the sweet caramelized onion flavor. The penne was also tasty as it was cooked in with the sauce.
The view from the patio was amazing as it overlooks the vineyard, the lake and the mountains. The service was prompt and the staff was friendly! Looking forward to visit again! Perfect lunch!
