The location, food and service were excellent. We were a group of 6 and ordered multiple dishes off their lunch menu. Every dish was amazing. I will definitely re-visit this place in the future. Also, the restaurant is right on beach drive and has a beautiful view of the water and dock.
This place has some wonderful rich creative dishes. Hardly know you're going without meat. Very eclectic and satisfying. I love some the cocktails and beers they offer too. Love the Green Bowl dish. and the ones with Tahini in it. Tried to replicate at home but I do not have such talent.
Love this place! I eat here at least once a week, for take out slices. so much better than run of the mill tkae out slices. Costs more too, but worth it. Very rich and tasty, heck once take out slice is enough for two people, though it is too irresistable to share
I dine here fairly often. Because it is so very authentic. Very similar to the pizza we enjoyed in Italy .. in fact often better than the pizza we had in Italy.
The ambience of the restaurant is a bit weak though. loud and not enough tables for 2-4.
Also, this is the not the type of pizza you take out. We tried that once, and by the time it is taken home and enjoyed, it loses its fresh delightful crust and become a bit floppy. Dine in and enjoy it fresh - it is truly awesome.
We went out for dinner with the kids to this new local restaurant and we loved it. It is located in Millstream Village so parking was no problem. The food was amazing! Even the glutten free pizza my wife had was delicious!!!!! Everything is fresh, organic, local and simply yummy. We will be going back very soon. Truly authentic italian pizza. So worth it.
They will rip you off, they full they charged us full adult price for a 2yo and a 6yo we asked them about it then they dropped the price by $10. A bunch of thieves they refused to even give us a receipt. Do not go there unless you want to get ripped off. 4 adults and 2 obviously small children shouldn't have been over $120 then $110. Our family will never return.
I have eaten at several Salty's locations around Vancouver Island over the years usually getting decent value and sometimes great fish and chips until I tried Esquimalt.
I can say I have had worse....in Saskatchewan, but by any west coast standards this was a dismal excuse for fish and chips. Small fish portions and what tasted like reheated fries. Overall much like frozen boxed F&C.
I did take the time to email the head office. They did not even have the courtesy to reply.
I can only assume they just don't care and that seems to be most evident at this location.
Good food...not great but good. Very poor service. Very Very expensive for a tiny bit of food. Myself and my wife's bill 170.00 and we both left hungry and had only 2 watered down drinks and a glass of warm water. I get the whole thing about the amazing chef who's food is so great you only get a taste for hundred dollar bills but doesn't the food have to be worthy of that kind of ego??
The tiny bowls of clam chowder were so salty we could barely eat them.
Now buck a shuck is 3 bucks a shuck.... Sad

I have been going here for a few years now, and to be honest my experience is always a hit and miss.
One day it's good, the next it's so, so.
For $10 bucks, I generally grab a lunch combo and drink a pot of Chinese tea (which is complimentary)
The staff are quite friendly and service is prompt, however often I have an issue with the freshness and or appearance of the food on my plate.
I have had my food brought to me with little bits of food that are NOT part of my combo clearly visibly mixed into it. Which I hate to say it, but leads me to suspect they are scraping left-over food off of other customers plates that go back to the kitchen into back into the prepped items to save on food waste.
Also I have also had the plate come to me almost cold on a few occasions.....even when I am one of the only people in the restaurant. And last time I visited the Broccoli was extremely BITTER. So Bitter, I couldn't eat it.
When I let the staff know about these inconsistencies they just kind of shrug their shoulders and say a quick 'Sorry" but they do not offer a reduction on the bill, and do not seem very interested in bringing my concern to the kitchen staff.
That all being said.......6 out of 10 times my food is HOT, tastes fresh, comes generally under 10 minutes from when I order it and I am satisfied with the window views and the complimentary tea.
I have been going to this place off and on for a few years now, and for the most part it's a decent place to eat, but poor in cleanliness.
The main reason I still go once in a while is because of the variety of items that they have in their buffet that I have not seen at other Chinese Buffet's.
They have an endless supply of Wings, Ginger fried beef, Szechuan styled ribs, egg foo young, chow-mein, wonton soup, Spicy udon styled noodles, mushroom & bell pepper mix, fried fish, chicken, Broccoli Beef, sweet 7 sour pork, Pork dumplings, mixed vegetables, spring rolls, a couple of western selections like onion rings and tater-tots, and one of my fav's is the Salt & Pepper squid. Most places can't get the squid to turn out right, but Szechuan City manages to get it just perfect. It's lightly battered and fried, soft in texture (not chewy like most places) and has a perfect salt & pepper balance to give it that yummy flavor. They also have a desert section and self serve soft drink, tea and coffee machines.
Now, the downside to this establishment is it is not a CLEAN looking place. It's small (Probably seats about 60) the drink glasses (Made of plastic) are always dirty (as if the dishwasher does not rinse properly) and the bathroom is the filthiest bathroom I have every gone into.....EVEN at opening time. It's so dirty as a matter of fact in the bathroom that I am afraid to even touch the tap to turn the water on because it's covered in slime....as are the walls, soap and paper towel dispenser.
So to Sum it up........great food (only gotten upset tummy from it once), good variety of food to choose from, great friendly service, good value, but in the sanitation department and cleanliness department they get a great big "F"
I left a public message on this Facebook page for management to explain the situation that occurred last week. This has not happened. Instead I can no longer find my post asking for clarification around a certain policy to do with mis-ordered food. So, since I have no faith in the management responding let alone keeping that post public, I figured I would share my horrific experience here.
I have never been treated to the kind of customer service in my life I received here. I am not sure if this is now becoming usual practice of charging for food that was not ordered? If so, I'd advise against coming here as this is what happened to me. Also, I'd like this clearly explained by the establishment whose manager was apparently too busy cooking to come talk with my party.
Our waitress misunderstood our table's order and we ended up with five dishes instead of four (for four people and we said nothing about a to-go order). Another waitress (the only one who actually tried to fix the situation) brought our food out and commented how five dishes wasn't right was it? After trying to leave the fifth order at our table in a take out box, our waitress returned to explain that she was just going to leave the order to go and essentially, because she misheard our order, we would be charged for the five meals. Apparently, she had explained this situation to the manager and said we could speak with her if we wanted. Yes, of course I would like the manager to have this policy explained to me and my party.
After being ignored and with blatant stares from staff from the window, our waitress finally returned to inform me the manager was too busy to come speak to us as she was cooking in the back. The other waitress was there actually refilling our drinks (imagine that!), and said to her colleague this was a server error and apologized to us. I had to chase down our waitress even for a take out box and getting our bill wasn't much easier.
This is truly unfortunately as I live walking distance to Uptown and work nearby. I have taken out food several times and has always been my to-go Indian restaurant. I would at least like some sort of recognition from this establishment for being a long-time customer.
I came at 10pm during system reset the is Indian girl was working the front she was so rude and she said hey were closed sit down and wait. I was really taken aback. I couldn't believe it. So I left and when to Tim Hortons across the street. No til closure and no attitude. It was perfect.
We chose this restaurant because it was close to our hotel within walking distance. We were greeted promptly and seated by the window. Recommendations were made and we chose the specials. My husband and son both had the steak and lobster special and I had the maple glazed salmon. Shortly after receiving our beverages, our meals arrived piping hot. It pays to be there early. The sound of the crackling fire made us feel cozy on a cool night. Later we shared apple crumble with ice cream and caramel sauce and had one more drink. Our waiter was very attentive.
You'd think you could never go wrong with a pizza, especially from a chain like BP, but hey, I guess there's exceptions.
I ordered take-out when I was too lazy to go out for food one day yet insanely hungry in Victoria, thinking BP was a safe bet. The pizza and extras came rather quickly, only to find that is was cold and lacking in flavours. The Mediterranean barely had any toppings to it, and for over $26, I couldn't feel more disappointed. How could it be so cold if it had just arrived? And my cheese toast was so soggy that it gave me an uneasy feeling.
Seeing the overwhelmingly positive reviews of this place, I had high expectations coming here. Il Terrazzo definitely has it's charm. At first, I thought the reviewers were right. The ambience is more romantic than anything, and the place has its customers. Lots of them.
I should have looked at the menu while we were waiting for our table (which was a good thirty minutes or so). This place was probably one of the nightmares for vegetarians or vegans, in which the only meat-free options available are salads. Luckily, there was something else for me to have, the melazane al forno which is pasta cooked in mushrooms, eggplant and spinach. The waiter gave me a strange look when I kept on asking him about whether certain foods had any meat in them.
Let me clarify that the food did not taste bad, just lacked variety of options for vegetarians to choose from. Hence the 3-stars. On the flip side, my friends did have a good time, and the food was fairly priced.

Strode into Bubby's for a meal in Victoria. This was actually the first place we visited here when we arrived farmished for lunch, and ended up coming in a second time before we left. The waitresses we had both times were very friendly; the one we got the initial night stopped by to check in on us and even remembered our names. Great sign of a keeper!
Food & price: prices were a little on the high side, but nothing we were not used to. I really liked their veggie burger ($13) and veg chilli.
Meh, just so-so. Don't know if Vancouver has spoilt me or something I expected much much more from this place. Came here for lunch with another couple when looking for a spot to eat and authentic thai and this one seemed to be a good fit.
Now, I don't know if this was a one time thing or not but the food was not what I expected. Also, a little on the high side for thai food. I had the macua pad tofu with spring rolls and wasnt impressed. I had ordered the macua mild and it was waay too spicy. When I asked for a change, the waitress had an attitude. She took forever to change my plate and when she brought it back it tasted bland, not to mention the eggplant smelled funny. If it weren't for the spring rolls, I'd be rating them less.
For someone like myself, finding good, healthy options when you travel can be a hassle, especially if you are in the company of people who are not vegans or vegetarians themselves. So when I friend back home suggested this place to me, I didn't think twice.
I'm glad I came here, not once, but thrice in the time I was in Victoria. We came for the buffet and it was all self- service. The spicy bbq tempeh was a repeat for me, as well as the lentil patties and chickpeas curry. It was nice to see non-vegetarians buying and eating in this place in the city's Market square. Prices are determined by how much you serve yourself, so choose wisely!
Was served with rotten shrimp in the fried rice. Horrible taste. Whoever the chef is, he should be fined and the business should be shut down. This kind of food is not acceptable anywhere . Anyone thinking of trying the place out should be stopped immediately. The interior is horrible, I dunno why they have an aquarium up there , its totally worthless with this kind of interior. Horrible food . Restless waitress, no respect for customers..
I just received the most horrible experience from this place. After arriving at my hotel, I used the online ordering system posted on their website. Bad idea! This place was 5 minutes away from where we were staying and after along drive, and a hungry family to feed, we decided to order in. After a 90 minute wait I finally called the restaurant and asked where my food was and they assured me the driver was on his way. After 75 minutes I called again. This time I spoke to a manager and she too promised me the driver had just left. After 2 hours the food arrived COLD and without our drinks and missing an item. Being in a hotel, there was no microwave to reheat anything and I shouldn't have to anyway. I immediately called back to share my disappointment. They made excuses and said the online ordering does not go directly to them. It is contracted out by another company. I was told they couldn't credit my credit card because it was made though another company. The food was cold and disgusting! We chose to try and eat something because we were starving by tis point. After about 6 returned calls they said they would give me $30.00 back from my $100.00 order. I ended up tears insisting on getting a full refund. Eventually, after another 2 hours, the delivery driver came back and gave me cash back in full. They were very apologetic and talked about the contracted company app again. DO NOT USE THE ONLINE ORDERING and DO NOT ADD A GRATUITY, because the restaurant doesn't receive it.
Being of Japanese descent, we have had our fair share of Japanese food. The sushi from the grocery store is 100% better than this place. I will NEVER recommend this place to anybody.
