I work 4:30am-11:30 am and enjoy having a tasty lunch prepared for me and a beer after work...I have been frequenting this specific Boston Pizza for many months now and kept returning because they make an amazing pizza and the staff are nice...or so I thought.After today I will NEVER step foot in their establishment again, will recomend to my friends and family not to go there, and am also recomending you don't as well.
Today, as always I had a very nice waitress greet me...they had a new lunch special menu and so I asked a lot of questions. I specifically said "what sandwiches can I get for the $7.49 special" she said "all of these" and pointed to the sandwiches. so I continuted to question and specifically asked if I could get the chicken quesedia (sorry about the spelling!) for the $7.49 and she said yes. she had to go to the kitchen as she didn't know what the soup was and upon returning couldn't tell me what a gumbo was so I went the easy way. I said "I will get the $7.49 chicken quesedia and fries"... no problems,
as usual the food was tasty. when I got my bill the meal was $12.49 for the quasadia (plus my beer :)) and I asked the waitress, she said "oh sorry, I'll go change it" (therefore, she also thought at that time it was the special price...that she told me it was)5 or so min later she came back and told me the $12 was the appropriate price and tried showing me the menu to "prove it"...and I said no...I specifically asked if I could get it for the lunch special $7.49 and you said yes, or else I would have gone with my trusy goat cheese pizza (my absolute favorite). she said she would check, over 10 min later the manager came to see me...
he was very rude and abrupt and started with "this isn't the first time you've been here and given us trouble about prices...but since the costumer is always right.." yada yada...I pressed him about what he was refering to and he said there was a pizza pricing issue.
I, still calm (even though I was furious) said there had never been a pizza pricing issue, I order the same pizza, same size, every time, there is no way to mess up the price, the one and only time there was a price issue was only a couple of weeks ago, I came in and looked at the special board. it said schooneres $6 something (cant remember exactly) so I ordered one...when the waitress brought it I said "oh thats big!!" she said oh, didn't you order it, I said yes, I have just never had one before, just ordered it because it is on special, but it sure is big! she said it was not on special, that was yesterday, I pointed out the sign (which there was no day or date written on it) and she said "I thought it was funny that you ordered this one!, no problem, I will change it on your bill" now...she knew it was funny that I ordered it because I am in there almost every single day after work and always order a pizza and boston sized beer....she could have taken it back and given me the boston sized instead, the sign being left up was totally their fault for leaving the sign up, but she was very polite and professional and left the schooner at the price the sign stated.
but today! the waitress wanted to cover her own ass so the extra $6 she was trying to get me to pay wouldn't get her in trouble...and the manager not only bought her story of me being a "problem" customer but also came over and reamed ME out about it...AND told me that "if I ever caused a price issue again... " well...he never finished his sentance...and I promptly replied that it wouldn't be a problem, that I would never be back. he tried to say, well it's a new menu, she didn't know...well, neither did I, and that is why I specifically asked.
It was my very first time seeing the menu...whereas she should be trained on the menu, and, if you quote a price, you can't wait till the food is delivered and eaten to increase that price by $6...no, I have never had a problem here before....even the beer thing was worked out so politely by my waitress that I never even thought of it as a "pricing problem"...but after how I was treated today because of a waitresses mistake...I will NEVER go back there...If you don't want random extra charges showing up on your bill and being expected to pay them, you should not either.but if you don't care about being charged $2-6 extra per meal...the food is good...and the waitresses are almost always nice. I don't know about you...but to me $6 is a loaf of bread and a carton of milk...or...part of my next meal out...I don't need to find out AFTER I have ordered, and eaten, that the waitress was wrong and I need to cover her error...nor do I need the manager to be on my ass about it...it is your staff, train them better!And no, the costomer is not always right...but then again...perhaps you should consider that posibly...just posibly...the waitress is trying to cover her own ass....and approach the customer in a more friendly manner.
My son ordered chilli. It was burnt. Tasted like burnt dog food. Told server food was burnt asked for refund or substitution. She told me he ate too much of it to be burnt. He was starving and struggled through ten bits on a large bowl. I tasted it and told him he didn't have to eat that discusting stuff. He's too kind to complain. I told him when food is so bad you worry it'll make you sick you complain. I complained the said its not burnt I said taste it. She wouldn't wonder why? Refused to refund or substitute. Horrible place to eat.
I recently visited this location a few days ago simply wanting a drink. This restaurant was not busy, as I & a friend were the only two ordering our drinks. The two employees, were young, & very disrespectful. They talked about my appearance and how they weren't fond of my appearance right in front of me. They made small jokes about it, & laughed, comparing me to other people. I felt very hurt, & disrespected. My friend wanted to stay, and have our drinks inside. The employees would sit at a table near by, and talked. Which is understandable, because they weren't busy. But the whole time I was stared at. I felt very mocked. It was not a pleasant experience. I've told my friends and family about my there as well. Hoping that maybe this restaurant will teach their employees on costumer hospitality & respect in general. I do not plan on coming back to this location.
I'm 20. I love taco time. And this problem could have been solved so incredibly easily. But no. The customer service here was the worst service I have EVER seen in my life. They're cheese tasted strange to me. An it wasn't just me who thought so, I asked a friend to try it as well and the three of us all agreed it didn't taste the way that it usually did. So I went back to the taco time and politely asked if I could trade the cheese chips in for plain ones. The woman asked what was wrong with them, I just said that they didn't taste the same to me as they usually do, and than her and her manager got really offended and started arguing with me! They did not try to help, they did not offer anything, they literally told me to shut up and called me an idiot. At this time I didn't know that the other girl behind the counter was the manager. I asked for the manager or anyone higher up and they said that it was just the two of them. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! They said that there wasn't anything wrong with the cheese, there was something wrong with me. How on earth could someone say something like that?! I honestly don't even know WHY they were so upset. I don't feel like I said anything wrong or hurtful to start the argument. In the end they refused to give me a refund or the plain chips, called me an idiot, told me to shut up, and wouldn't give me someone else to complain to. They were both equally rude and had a very irritating sarcastic tone the whole time. I'm not a violent person. I live working with people and feel bad when servers have to serve rude customers... But I don't feel that I was rude! I asked politely, smiled, apologized, than BAM! I look like the bad guy. I don't understand. All in all, everything about this place was horrible. The food was not tasty, the customer service.. Well.. I don't think those girls should be working at all. Not with people anyways. This has ruined tacotime for me. NEVER GO TO THIS LOCATION!!!
First, I almost never take issue with bad service or poor food at restaurants. When I choose to attend a restaurant, I accept the fact that I am submitting myself to culinary and service professionals whose skills far exceed my own. Further, in my view, the bad experiences make the positive ones all the better.
That said, I have never, in my entire life, indirectly observed or directly experienced the degree of wrongful conduct that I was subjected to by the words and actions of the manager at Chianti on Whyte. Although my experience differs, I note a similar review on March 13, 2013 by a customer who described this manager's conduct as that of a "15-year-old". While I understand the comparison, in my view, the manager, described as male / mid 30s / dark hair / short frame - 5'7"-5'9" / slightly plump figure / Italian accent, in my view, acted like an adult who, due to Chianti's high traffic location, has developed the view of customers as disposable because there are plenty more waiting in the lobby.
I ordered a composite pasta dish with veal and shrimp. The group that I was with were celebrating a birthday. We were a table of apprx. 15. Our waiter, a tall Caucasian male in his mid 20s, was kind and helpful throughout, and took my order that included a veal add-on.
When our food arrived, I cut into the veal that I was excited to devour with the standard dinner knife provided. The meat was like leather. I continued to enjoy my past and shrimp. When our waiter attended my side of the table and asked me if I was enjoying the dish, I told him about the tough veal. Note that I was not angry, but rather I asked with a smile if he would provide me with a steak knife. The waiter apologized and told me that I should not have to eat the tough meat. He advised that he would take the veal off the bill, and requested that I provide the two uneaten portions of veal. I passed off the two portions to the waiter on a side plate.
Several minutes later, the manager, described at para 2 above, attended our table. He stood above me, and appeared visibly angry. He waited for the entire group to turn their attention to our location before placing the small side dish with the 2 portions of veal on the table in front of me. He then proceeded to firmly press a knife down into the veal, and, standing, began cutting through the meat. Even with the added weight, it took the manager several swipes to cut off a piece.
My mouth dropped. I was stunned, incredibly embarrassed, hurt, and angry that the manager had the gull to attend our table, and seek to rebut the claim that I had made to the waiter who, not directed by me, had chosen to return my food to the kitchen.
In reply, I first pointed to the meat that had saw marks imbedded in it. I told the manager that I was unable to cut through the meat. He attempted to cut through that portion, and had more trouble than with the first demonstration. I then told him that I had not asked to have the meat returned, but that I had simply requested a steak knife. The manager stated loudly, in slightly broken English: "Why you need a steak knife. There's nothing wrong with this!"
At this point, I accepted the fact that rationalizing with this manager would not be possible. I told him that his conduct was unprofessional and extremely rude. I told him that I would pay for the veal, and I directed him to leave our table, with the veal, immediately. He stood there seemingly stunned, I infer due to the fact that he had expected me to become angry, which would have justified him asking me to leave the restaurant.
Through the remainder of our dinner, the manager glared at me whenever he walked by our vicinity. As I was paying for the meal, I informed the manager that I would blog this incident, and would be laying a complaint with the BBB. He smiled at me, and stated "Whatever. I am owner here". Again, his behaviour leads me to conclude that he sees customers as expendable. He does not understand the negative ripple effect that he created when he treated me, and this birthday goers who were subjected to his attack, with such arrogance and disrespect.
Given the great location and, overall, good food reflected by the 78% rating, I am not suggesting that you, too, will have this horrible experience. Maybe my physical appearance (blonde, glasses) reminded the manager of someone who hurt him in the past. I don't know. I do know that I will never return to this location, and I have informed all of my friends, family, and co-workers about this incident. That said, there is a growing body of evidence that speaks of a Chianti's manager/owner as being an unreliable variable in what should otherwise be a positive Italian dining experience.

At one time, a few years ago, I was a firm believer that Royal Pizza was possibly the best in the city.
Then the economy went in the crapper.
I guess in order to keep their heads above water, this location took some pretty drastic measures.
I used to be able to buy a medium pizza here and not be able to finish it.The pie was thick, and while a little on the expensive side, it was still good value for the money.
Then they changed the pizza to basically a little under half as thick as it used to be.It was still good, but no longer good value for the money.Not even close.
I went from not being able to finish a medium to still being hungry after finishing a medium.
I haven't been back.For their prices . . .it is just not worth it.
Whenever the idea of having indian food as supper or Lunch, just remember the Newly opened Curry Curner Resturant in Riverbend area in Edmonton. Wow! Wow!! Wow!!! the foods are amaizinly delicious foods with cozy atmoshphear and outstanding customer Services.. I was there with my friend on last Friday. I am going with my family on this week
Me and my friend decided to try thai food after mass, we drove all the way to Edmonton from Leduc and took us 34mins to be exact to get there, we were very excited that we are able to locate the place. When we entered the restaurant, we were greeted by a lady hostess and a server and asked if we had a reservation, luckily, we were still accepted even though we didnt have. we started to like the place until our "SERVER" came, he was thai thin man, he was rude and very unfriendly, we had placed our order and after 15 mins, 2 items from what we ordered arrived except the other 2 items so we asked if its on the way, the "WAITER" answered rudely saying that "Its coming, just wait!". we kept quiet and beginning to feel annoyed by his behaviour. finally, the 2 items came, after we ate we immediately asked for our bill and decided not to give tip as we were not very happy at all. While we were walking out the door..guess what??? the server " Thin Thai Man" came after us, and had said "NEXT TIME, IF YOU DONT GIVE TIP, BETTER ORDER TAKE AWAY!" un imaginably rude...we will never be back to this restaurant anymore and for sure will tell our friends about this terrible attitude. NOT RECOMMENDABLE! I will have to speak to the manager or the owner. This Staff needs to be trained with customer service. He is not suitable of it. He should be working at the back office not related to any customer service job. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED
Our first visit to Midnight Sun was December 22, 2011, after searching on line for a restaurant that serves a good Mu Shu Pork.
We were not lead astray. We had not had Mu Shu for years, and decided we needed to have some again. This lead us into Edmonton, and I was concerned about parking on 124th Street, but they have a parking lot in front between the street and the building.
Upon entering, we found the decor fairly simple, and my first thought was concern that all the tables were set with knives and forks, and no sign of chopsticks. We were seated promptly, since it was past the normal lunch hour, and ice water was brought with the menus. I asked for chopsticks, and they magically (almost) appeared. They have a lunch menu good until 2:00pm, but it was mainly "combo" plates,
We knew we wanted the Mu Shu Pork (6 pancakes) for $11.50. It was a bountiful feast, and could have used a couple more pancakes! A good Hoisin sauce to spread on the pancakes, then a heaping helping of the veggie and pork mixture (nicely seasoned) and roll up and eat with the fingers. Lovely and a bit messy (typical of me).
To accompany, we had a pot of Chinese tea, a pleasing loose Jasmine blend, and a platter of Singapore Noodles.
Now I must admit that the seasoning of the latter dish was wonderful, the curry being aromatic and sensuous on the tongue, without being overly hot, but the noodles tended to outweigh the meats and veggies. Good, but we have had better elsewhere.
Next time we should investigate items from the Vietnamese side of the menu.
A definite repeat!
The restaurant is extremely neglected both in exterior and interior maintenance. Parking is around back and the paint is peeling and vandalized and the parking area and sidewalks are not shovelled. We were greeted by a server with her personal cellphone in-hand who asked us to "choose wherever you want". The restaurant was dirty and there were cracks in the walls. The bathroom was dirty and neglected - hate to see what the kitchen looks like. You can view the kitchen slightly from the bathroom hallway and there was a kitchen employee texting leaning against the sink. Our server continued to neglect us and I have never had worse service. EVER. I did not tip our server, as a server I know what this statement means, and on our way leaving the restaurant everyone in our party overheard our server remark "They are so f**king rude, no tip!". After this abominable sub-par service and experience I will never return to this location and advise the same to you.
I went to the property with my family on NYE and we spent some quality time with delicious dishes served by them. Service in Continental Treat Fine Bistro is just superb and the staffs are always at your call.
I suggest this restaurant for any occasional parties you want to arrange or a sudden visit for a dinner or lunch.

Just attended with 4 kids 3-13 and 4 adults. Told to expect a MANDATORY gratuity charge of 18% because of 7+ guests, after being eyed up and down by the maitre d'. Don't know if this represents not kid friendly, or just plain old racial profiling. Pisses me off anyway.
I just left your store to get a large, decaf, non fat latte. Your server at the drive thru repeated it back but said skinny latte instead. I said sometimes I don't know what to say non fat or skinny and she said it only makes sense that it is skinny! When I came to the window I told her I get Starbucks and its 'non fat' and at Second Cup it is 'skinny'. I told I was insulted of the comment 'that it only makes sense' she made no apologize instead to give an excuse of the headset and doesn't know what I want her to say. I said an apology would be a start. She still did not apologize gave other excuses and just basically walked away from the window. I have been in the customer service industry for over 30 years and if we treated our customers that way we longer would have customers.Possibly she could learn some customer service skills so you do keep customers coming back. Thank you!
We decided to branch out from our usual pizza place. Laziza's reviews were good and the total would be $6 cheaper than our usual place. We called and ordered a meatlovers and donair pizza, no onions. We were told 30-50 minutes to have it delivered. Our order took over an hour. Mildly irritating but not a deal breaker. We sat down to watch a movie and enjoy our pizza when I realized my donair pizza was completely soggy except for 2 cm by the crust. I'm not being picky, I mean so soggy that it was the consistency of baby food. Furthermore, it was riddled with onions. I decided to call and give them another chance. I explained the two issues I had with the pizza. The response was "well do you want another one?" In my experience of GOOD customer service the response is typically "I'm sorry". I accepted the offer of another pizza and was informed it would be an hour to an hour and a half though. I informed him that the time frame was unacceptable and that if that was the case we would never be ordering from them again. He replied "Well that's your loss cause we have the best pizza in the city" Before I could respond, he had hung up the phone.
So on top of the worst donair pizza I've ever had in Edmonton, this is the worst example of customer service in Edmonton that I've seen in the last two years. Whenever I have a bad experience as a customer, I always remember that mistakes happen, treat the employee with respect, and offer the opportunity for the experience to be remedied. Instead I was left completely disappointed and disrespected on top of it.
The food is fresh, generous portions, and tasty. The decor is FUN if you let it be - right now there are Marvel comics and SpiderMan posters up! Hey relax, have a coffee and some toast.
The acceptance of everyone is this cafe's 5-star secret - not everyone has had the fortune in life to be an upscale Canada Place or court house employee - notice that the city and the world are made up of a variety of people, all colours and abilities and with varying degrees of luck. Count your good fortunes if you can afford anything you want on the menu, be friendly, and maybe even treat everyone in the place to a glass of juice.
By the manager's own admission, the chicken is pre-cooked and then warmed again. It was dry as hell. Didn't eat it. Nice and clean place. Friendly service. Menu needs serious work. Desserts were week as well. I want to give the owners head a shake. I drank to forgive myself.
Edmonton is a poor city to eat sushi at. However, Zen Sushi does a very good job by Edmonton standards. The price (particularly for lunch) cannot be beat and the ambiance is very good. Service is average for a buffet location, which means slow and not that friendly, but don't go to a buffet expecting good service. This is our new go-to place for sushi.
ordered online my food was delivered roughly 45 minutes later. they only delivered 2 wanton soups when I had ordered and paid for 3. called in to complain they offered to give me credit on my next order. they finally agree to send me the soup anything further would have to be discussed with the manager, who was out for delivery, and who would be delivering the soup. half hour later a delivery driver shows up and tries to give me a refund on the wonton, I complained that the manager was suppose to be by and give us our soup, he told up that the manager was at the restaurant. so we called bat and after another 30 minutes finally talked to the manager. they've still not sent us the soup which we paid for or offered us any further refund other then credit but they've given me no reason to order again in order to use said cred. they're staff have been rude and unproffesional, and the owner/manager no better.
WOW !! This place is a MUST !! You need to try the Masala Dosa and the Samosa's ! The new owners have made a huge effort in cleaning this place up. The chairs and new flooring have made this a more cozy place to dine. The menu now offers both VEG and NON-VEG. They will be adding to the menu in the next few months but some of the daily Non-Veg items are very tasty. Especially the Chicken Biriyani. While sitting there, it amazes me the amount of take out orders. So I guess this looks to be the best new South Indian Rest in town ! I can honestly say that it is well priced and very tasty ! I high recommend it if your looking for a place that serves fresh food at a decent price !!
