Not Japanese

Apparently the owners are not actually Japanese; they just speak Japanese. I've been here once and it was OK. Kinda had a feel of fast food and you can always tell a japanese restaurant on their gyoza... Lots of places have these nasty plump ones and the more delicate ones are way tastier/fresh. Meh, it is alright. I would go here rather than Maguro or any other place in Ladner.

Terrific Food / Great place to go after coming back from Point Roberts
By eating good food of Vancouver (130 Reviews)

Yesterday, a friend and I came here after going to Point Roberts. It was my second time coming here. When we came in we were seated immediatly. Our server was polite and friendly. I ordered Fettucini alfredo with chicken and a shirly temple, and my friend ordered the roast lamb dinner and a pepsi. It took awhile for our food to come out, and I wish the waiter would had come by just a little more often, but everything was great itherwise. The fettucini tasted amazing, and my friend told me that the roast lamb was delicious (he said that another restaurant we went to in Vancouver was a little bit better, but only marginally) We both left very happy and definatly will be returning

I feel ripped off

I have been to this pub/restaurant before. I was satisfied but not this time. The prices have gone up so much, not just a dollar or two, but a lot. the food was substandard. The coleslaw was horrible. I compare their menu to more deluxe places both in Ladner and Richmond and you can get so much better quality food from other places, for a lot less. Give me a break $21 for Halibut and chips... now, that is ridiculous... everywhere else is no more than $14 for that.

Time the management starts reading these reviews. I will never go there again, and I'm spreading the word, what a rip off. Totally substandard in all respects, don't go, the deck is not worth it.

the food was so good! it was priced very affordable for its taste and quality.
the atmosphere in the restaurant was very good. service was good but not great.
the only problem i had was that they forgot my pepsi when i ordered it when they brought the food to the table. the food was made in a reasonable time and tasted awesome. the whole family was happy and was satisfied.

We had a lovely dinner at Desi Junction. I've eaten a lot of Indian food, and this was close to being the best. All the standards are there, but they also have their specialties which add a little twist to the traditional Butter Chicken and Vindaloo. Chilli Paneer had lots of crisp red peppers and onions and just enough heat, Eggplant Bhartha was rich and complex and the Malai Kofta was creamy and soothing. Good recommendations from our delightful waitress for a vegetarian meal (in deference to one of our guests). I'm a confirmed carnivore and I didn't even miss the meat! The service was attentive without being pushy and the Maitre d' followed up to make sure that we enjoyed everything. He even gave us "Free Lunch" tickets to encourage us to try their lunch buffet some day. I'm sure we will! Dinner for three (and leftovers!) with wine and superb chai for $60?
Ok, so the decor is not spectacular, but the joyful service made for a great time!

Finally great Indian right in Ladner

My husband & I used to drive all the way to north Surrey for Indian.... not anymore!! Bombay Joe's has been open for a few months but we just made our first visit and we will be back!! The restaurant is quite small but the decor and ambiance is very nice and modern with small, personal touches. The Bollywood movie on the big screen was a really fun touch!

We ordered Naan, Chana Masala, Palak Paneer & Butter Chicken. The Naan was probably the best I've ever had, very fresh and tasty. The Masala was very great and spiced just right for me! My hubby proclaimed the butter chicken to be the best he's had. Overall a fantastic dinner and we have leftovers for lunch!

This is a family owned business, the husband & wife are the hosts and servers and they are both lovely, personable people. We enjoyed their suggestions with the menu and they made sure we had everything we needed in a friendly and fun manner, they make you feel very much at home.

It's about time that the stale Ladner restaurant scene got something new and exciting!!

We went there last Saturday, it was incredible delicious, the kids portions were so big our kids couldn't eat them all (good for us ;-) , The price is good for 3 adults and 2 kids we spent around 70CAD wich is good from my perspective.
The thing make me think again about this place is the spoons forks and the chairs all of them were from different places, one from Japan, China, USA, it was really interesting for me like in some sort of a chair museum.
Very interesting place for Lunch!!!

If you are looking for a good brunch or breakfast, this is a place to go. Plenty of choices for lunch too and the service is always top notch, fast and friendly. The food is delicious and their portions are generous and reasonably priced. They have a good selection of vegetarian wraps. My favorite is Yam tempura wrap, and it is worth trying. Definitely recommended.

I just moved to the neighbourhood and I am so happy to have this restaurant close to me. We only ordered take out, but we were very happy with the quality of food. I ordered tuna sashmi and I swear it melted in my mouth. My husband ordered the beef teriyaki and he loved it.

When I went to pick up the order, I noticed that the restaurant is quite small, but the food will definitely make up for that!

This is my favorite place to go for sushi. If you like spicy tuna rolls then you have to try it. They are to die for! I have tried the other sushi restaurants in town and they don't compare. They can get busy but that is a good sign. I have ordered out from there as well. Great service. Great food.

I can understand how some people find Krispy Kreme's doughnuts too sweet, but I like them. The Tim Horton's less than a block away is definitely busier but it's also because they serve other food, they're cheaper, and their coffee is way better. Yes, I'm sorry to say that I'm not a big fan of KK's coffee. Their doughnuts, however, will always trump Timmy's. The price isn't too crazy either and the calories are actually a lot less than you would think! I'm not sure how they manage it, but if I remember correctly the original glazed are somewhere around 200 cal.

Best Lemongrass Chicken on Earth
By bombskies of Delta, B.C. (1 Review)

People need to start learning what to order at Stanley's Restaurant. I will agree with previous reviews that their pho broth is not the most phenomenal. However, credit and respect will be given to where it is due and that is their Lemongrass Chicken on Rice! This delicious dish needs to be recognized for its pure excellence in taste, texture, and portions. The chicken is the moistest and most flavorful of all the LGC on R that I have ever tasted. Nay, the chicken is the moistest and most flavorful of all time! The veggies on the side are fresh and the fish sauce just compliments the chicken perfectly. If you had to choose a last meal to eat on Earth, Stanley's Lemongrass Chicken will not disappoint you. Guaranteed.

I tried their chili chicken with rice. The chili chicken was quite mild and had any spices that you would normally expect from an Indian-Chinese fusion restaurant. The rice was also not included with the chili chicken and seemed to have been microwaved right before being served. Other ppl on the thread have given it better reviews and I will give their other dishes a try before I make any conclusions.

Decent Punjabi sweets and snacks

I have been here a couple of times and they have some really traditional Punjabi snacks and sweets.
I tried their Chana Bhatura and they were really good. One order of Chana Bhatura comes with the masala chickpeas and two fried bread for only 5 bucks. The masala chickpeas are usually not sufficient but you can get more for no additional cost.
They also have a huge selection of sweets and other snacks that I haven't tried yet. The service is reasonable but it can get a bit too busy sometimes.

Love love love going there for tea!!! With their colored sugar and fancy little cups and outstanding selection of teas (all full leaf! ), you are bound to find a favorite. My sister and I simply adore the Londonderry Black tea and we get it every time! Its so yummy and it does quite a good job at waking you up. We also always get the fruity scones with the homemade jam and creme fraiche. What a perfect afternoon treat! They never disappoint.

I tend to stick to what I love like the black teas and scones but they have a great selection of green and herbal teas as well as many pastries, pies and cakes! But the best part is their fudges, and I do try to stay away cuz they are simply devilishly sublime! They always come out with new flavors like rootbeer and coconut and they also have the classics.

Give this little tea room a try! It's a nice place to catch up with friends.

It's TEA TIME! :)

I've eaten at Browns a few times, mostly the location in Port Moody. We stopped by this location on our way out to the ferry looking for some breakfast but unfortunately they only serve brunch on weekends. Instead we ordered some pizzas including the margherita, cheese royale and the mushroom with goat cheese. They were all some of the better pizzas I've had. The service was prompt as we were in a hurry to drop someone off at the ferry. Overall it was a pleasant experience and I would return.

Pretentious and CHEAP!

Just want to give everyone the heads up after an episode I had at the Delta location last night. I decided I wanted Take Out and I wanted a GOOD burger. Decided to pick up from the Cactus Club and get a Cajun Chicken Sandwich for myself and Chicken Strips for my girl. Total was 30 bucks ~ which in my opinion is quite a bit. So at the end of the ordering process she asks me if I would like a bag for 75 cents plus tax and I say No Thanks. What I dont realize at the time is that they will not give you a bag for your leftovers OR take out anymore. You have to pay for it! She states that its because they are now going with an environmentally friendly option. What she doesnt realize is that the old brown paper bags WERE environmentally friendly and FREE! So now, after paying through the nose for your food, you cant take any to go without purchasing a bag to walk out with. I go in to pick up my takeout and it is all stacked on top of each other for me to juggle out the door. If Cactus Club was giving a portion of this .75 back to the environment or even a worthy cause like JAPAN.... No problem. I am all for it HOWEVER.... I will not line the pockets of this company with one more dollar! CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP is all I can say. This company should be embarrased to say the least. Whats next? Paying per packet of ketchup or for napkins? The employee that I spoke to in Customer Relations stated "We are trying to promote people to bring their own bags!" WTF! Can you see it now..... Honey, Im just putting on my heals and Im ready to head out the door for a gorgeous dinner at the Cactus Club! Oh wait.... make sure you grab a bag so I have something to carry my leftovers out with. BIZARRE! The business world and society in general has been making me shake my head lately. Anyways, thanks for letting me rant. It was a real disapointment.

I along with a lot of my friends are regulars at this sushi restaurant. It used to be the best spot in town.
The food was always fresh, atmosphere lively, service left a bit to be desired but we put up with it because the food was so good.
The last 3 times I have been there starting 2011 have been a big dissapointments. The ownership has changed and it shows, the food just isn't the same.
It is unfortunate that this gem has slipped so much, we used to eat there at least once a week.
I may try one more time but now I am looking at other alternatives for sushi in Ladner.
There are some other places which are eager to please and serve the dissapointed clientele from Maguro Sushi.

I've visited lots of BC sushi joints and this one definitely scores high marks across the factors of food, service and atmosphere. It's a smart looking place and the food matches that standard too - sashimi was top notch fresh, stir fried noodles were perfect, roll was perfect. There's special attention goes into the presentation too - the extra touch counts for a lot...

Chef even gave the diners a free salmon dish each. Easy going ambience and friendly attentive staff. We will return.

Well it seems there is a common thread going with people that visit this place. I ended up here after visiting the bird sanctuary, tail end of lunch rush on the weekend. Service was okay, but didn't receive napkins with the chowder we started with. The soup itself was good. Entrees were decent as well, really enjoyed the panko breading on the halibut. Enjoyed the decor, really old school nautical bar feel. If in the area I'd stop in again, but wouldn't go out of my way to come.
