Family-run Vietnamese restaurant
Stanley Restaurant is tucked into a corner of NorDel Shopping Centre, at 84th and 112th in North Delta. It's been there for quite a few years, and does a brisk business.
I go for pho, which is great. My husband usually tries one of the other noodle soups or a combination plate. We've never been disappointed.
Food: I have had their lemongrass chicken, spring rolls and pho several times and it's only ok - I've definitely have had better for a cheaper price. Their lemongrass chicken is really fatty and the accompanying salad is kind of weak. Their food is also expensive in comparison to other vietnamese restaurants that have tastier food.
Service: The ladies are really nice when eating in but when taking out, they are borderline rude. I don't know why.
Ambiance: Like any other hole-in-the-wall restaurant but perhaps a little cleaner.
Will try to not return but somehow always do because it's so close to home. I wouldn't come from outside Delta to eat here.
This location is located in an awkward portion of a North Delta stripmall right next to a very noisy & popular pub patio. When going into this place I find myself wondering why we didn't pick the pub it looks funner. The owners are a bit odd. I've tried a few things from their menu, nothing was stellar. They also offer some Japanese and Chinese dishes on their menu not quite sure why. The pho here has ample meat however the broth is not authentic, they rely on MSG for flavour and I don't like that they take this shortcut. The best pho in that area is Pho Tam located near Surrey Central, they make their broth from scratch.
People need to start learning what to order at Stanley's Restaurant. I will agree with previous reviews that their pho broth is not the most phenomenal. However, credit and respect will be given to where it is due and that is their Lemongrass Chicken on Rice! This delicious dish needs to be recognized for its pure excellence in taste, texture, and portions. The chicken is the moistest and most flavorful of all the LGC on R that I have ever tasted. Nay, the chicken is the moistest and most flavorful of all time! The veggies on the side are fresh and the fish sauce just compliments the chicken perfectly. If you had to choose a last meal to eat on Earth, Stanley's Lemongrass Chicken will not disappoint you. Guaranteed.
I am so glad this place is around, given the relative distance to other Vietnamese restaurants when in the area.
Food: Pho seems good, enjoyable, fresh condiments delivered well. Delicious salad rolls, ample portions and a fairly extensive menu: soup, noodles, platters, vegetables, stir-fries, Asian drinks and desserts; there's probably something for everyone.
Service: Dine-in service is nice, providing good complimentary tea and being helpful but not intrusive. Food is made fresh and usually arrives within 5-25 minutes depending on what you order. Take-out is great: everything is packaged separately to maintain texture...pho, for example, comes as 3 packages: a big container of broth, another of noodles, meat and so forth, and a bag of the bean-sprouts, peppers and thai basil, all bagged carefully to not leak. I once ordered take-out in the restaurant and was seated with tea while I waited, a nice touch which I much appreciated.
Value: Two large salad rolls and a huge bowl of Pho with a number of meats for $13.13 with tax, not a bad deal at all. No dish costs more than about $13 and most are under $8. Combos (noodle, meat, salad & spring rolls or some variation thereof) are $8-12 as well. Overall the value is very good.
Ambiance: It's a nice restaurant largely used by locals. OK decor and very clean, but nothing special -- and why should it be? Everything such a restaurant ought to be. Music and televisions quiet or muted, which is great, as the restaurant is usually pleasantly quiet.
If you live in the small town of delta you must known that Stanley’s is the Best and only place to get pho. I haven’t ordered anything there that is bad, to me its always good. From what i hear the restaurant has been around for 50 years and yet it still stands here today serving great pho and other foods that are literally to die for
I have been going here for many years & have introduced many people to the restaurant. I''m sure i've been there well over 100 times & find it consistantly great! Also my friends feel the same way too & we eat out a lot!! AS for the service - we always find it great & when we take Mom they always remember to give her a fork (without asking!!) We just had some take out from ther - Yum!!
Stanley restaurant knows how to do a great pho!
My favourite, #35 (sliced beef & pork w/ vermicelli in hot/spicy soup. Yummy broths. Ample portions. Have had various brochettes/spring roll combos - all pretty good. Not a place to go out of your way for but definitely will please your taste buds if in the mood for Vietnamese.
So I had lunch at Stanley Restaurant today with a friend who says this is his regular spot for Pho. Walking in I was very impressed with the layout of the restaurant, it was clean, looked very nice and was probably the best looking Pho place I have seen in a long time. The place filled up rather quickly with people form all walks of life. The service was good, as with any Pho place you have to ask for exactly what you want. We ordered the Salad Roll my friend had House special and I had the Rare Steak and Flank Pho. The Salad Roll and peanut sauce was well executed and refreshing. The Pho came with generous amount of good quality meat, the noodles were cooked perfectly, the broth does not come spicy from the kitchen you have to add your own chili oil, and it was lacking in flavor. I added the lime, chili oil and sriracha sauce but it still seemed as though something was missing. I may go back to try the rice dishes but I will not be calling this my regular Pho spot.
The food is decent to good, a good value I'd say. The place is quite dark, and narrowly shaped, but relatively clean. The waitresses attitude can range from normal to ridiculously rude (most often the latter is true). The attitude varies unpredictably, depending on the day and the person serving. Other than that the place is fine.
My uncle brought me to this restaurant and he thought it was good. Unfortunately he has really bad taste and doesn't know what good food is. I told him never to return.
The food isn't authentic... and there are a lot of other vietnamese restaurants that taste MUCH MUCH better. The service is VERY bad the waitress is so rude... ! And I agree with the last post, their soup is filled with MSG and I had to drink gallons of water to compensate for that.
Avoid this place by all means!
I have been here several times before I jump on the Richmond highway and boy I always leave happy. Good food, good service. Will definitley be there tomorrow actually mmm anyone else coming in for some tasty vietnamese food?
My favourite is the house special number 1 loaded with meat and the ordinary same ol same ol if you love it as much as I do then ya know what I mean. =) Highly recommend this place if you're in the neighbourhood. Theres no other place in that area that'll top the food you get there.
