Robb's have been around in Tsawwassen forever, almost like an institution, they have survived with a few changes of ownership. Fish and Chips are always better eaten at a restaurant as they get soggy quickly if wrapped or reheated. Five of us went to Robb's and ate their basic cod and chips (7.95) or halibut and chips ($9.95). The fish were crisp and good size portions and the chips excellent. Home-made coleslaw and tartar sauce were good also. Service was friendly and my only comment would be their hours of operation are very limited. If you want a late evening meal forget it. Well worth returning to in the hours they are open!
The Halibut is really fresh and cooked to a "T" in crisp batter. The chips are good too and the mushy peas are a treat. Have a nice pot of tea, served on the boil in a teapot with a caddy, and you have a great meal at a very reasonable price. Robbs is licensed, and they have a wide range of nostalgia such as Tizer, black pudding, and they will even make you a shandy if you ask for one.
I liked this little place. It was quite busy at dinner times with families and seniors as it is located near seniors housing. The food was ready in about 15 minutes
It's a great excuse to sample some traditional hearty fare from the mother country and to visit the lovely community of Tsawwassen. If you like your chips this is the place to be.
This is the first time we have felt compelled to write a review online. We placed a takeout order and were totally shocked when we opened the fish at home. The cod was similar to poorly breaded frozen fish sticks and the halibut not much better. This is not the Robb's we had become accustomed to over the last 14 years. We called to complain and the manager gave us some interesting excuses but he agreed to replace the order while telling us it will be just the same as the first order. When we went to pick up the new order the owner/manager's attitude was arrogant to say the least, and she clearly didn't care that there was a problem. It is really unfortunate that the quality has deteriorated. We will not go back there again and won't recommend it to anyone else.
So its Saturday nite and nobody wanted to cook, called Robbs for pick-up, even though we have noticed a huge difference in quality since the new owners. But we had freinds over and we recommended it, having had a good experience the last time. Well not only was the meal soggy, under cooked and almost, except for the fact our husbands where starving, inedible. The pieces of fish were very small and there were fries for 3 people not for the six we paid for. So I decided to call Robbs and register our complaint (which we have never done before). The acting manager intimated it was our fault because we didn't bother bringing it back. She was defensive and said it was way better with the new owners because she had worked for both. Not once did she express any dismay and apologize. When we said we had better fish and chips elsewhere she said she wasn't interested and you get what you get. Then she hung up on me. Only one last thing to say, don't eat there, they do not value their customers.
