Porto Fino Restaurant specializes in Italian, Greek and Pizza.
We decided to try Porto Fino after it was highly recommended to us. We were warmly greeted upon arrival and quickly seated. The interior of the restaurant is typical of many greek / mediterranean establishments, live plants and photos of Italy, Greece, etc. Our server was friendly and helpful. My fiance ordered the Torellini Calabrese which was quite good, lots of quality Italian sausage in a delightful tomato sauce. I ordered the Penne alla Greca (penne in a garlic cream sauce tossed with feta cheese, artichoke hearts and olives - I opted to sub sundried tomatos instead of the olives) the dish was great, the pasta cooked well (I can't stand overcooked pasta) the sauce very traditionaly Italian, unlike so many cream sauces restaurants serve here, excellet. Huge portions! The only complaints we had about this restaurant was all the upcharges. Pastas were both served with a green salad, our server informed us we could have a caesar instead, without informing us there was a $3.00 charge for the substitution - which we realized upon recieving our bill. Also, when presenting us with the pita bread which also came with our pastas we were asked if we would like hummus or tzitki for dipping. We ordered the tzitki, which again we were not aware was a $3.50 charge until we got our bill. Substituting the olives for sundried tomatos in my pasta dish also cost us $2.00, which was a little frusterating. Overall, would definatley reccomend this restaurant just be aware of all extra charges!
They have the best homous I have ever tasted, my favorite place for Lamb Slovaki. The service is very good, this restaurant has been good for a long time used to come hear in the 80's. Would recommend this to every greek food lover.
We went in with high hopes and left almost 2 hours later with empty stomachs. The hummuss was below average, the calamari was like large rubber bands when I sent it back to the kitchen to try again they reheated the same calamari and brought it back to me.
YUCK!!! The moussaka was barely adequate. It also took them an hour and 20 minutes to bring our food and after the re cooked calamari came out the chef from the back came out and gave me the evil eye.
We left most of the food on the table and finally had to go to the counter to pay the bill, the server apologized but there was no compensation at all for a terrible dining experience.
We first came to this place because of it's location. My husband wanted to go somewhere close and we found it, right behind our house. It can be hard to find, the first couple of repeat visits, we drove right by. The ambiance is friendly and inviting. They make you feel like you are part of the family. We have our favourites, we don't even need menus anymore. I am partial to the Canneloni Napolatana and my husband loves the lamb. We have never had a problem here and will continue to dine here.
We went as a big group, but most of people end up saying that they will never return. Even the organizer of the event said that she won't repeat.
First of all, the place is very pricey. Make things worse, every bit of slightest modification to the menu item costs money, and you are not informed up front. Tip is added by default, so that you have no say whether you like their service ;-(
The service is pretty poor. The poor service not only showed while you are dining there, one of us actually had her bad experience extended to days after. What happened is her credit card got swiped twice and charged twice. When she called back, it took the restaurant long time to fix the issue - well, to be precise, the issue is still not fixed - 4 or 5 days passed already.
The server rarely showed up through the event - that's usually pretty precise sign of bad service.
Food is only so so, which is the main reason why most of us said that they won't repeat.
Have been here a lot of times and they have great take out specials! The lasagne is really good as well as the canneloni. Also pizza is delicious. I like how they have fireplaces inside, makes it really nice. Also if you dine in, you have to have the garlic prawns! They are to die for!!!
Our family has been going to this fine estashment for 25 years. The owner and his family are second to none with their hospitality and food which compares to no one. Their consistency hasnt changed and thats what keeps us coming back. Our favorite waiter, Kenny, who has been there for 20 somewhat years greets us like his own family. Everyone must try this place. A must try is their Deep Fried Ice Cream. If you have room after dinner its a must try. There are too many good experiences. To limit them to just one would be wrong
