Authentic reasonably priced neighbourhood Japanese eatery.
Food: I've had the chicken teriyaki, dynamite rolls, california rolls, tuna rolls, salmon rolls, negitoro rolls, kappa rolls, edamame, tempura, beef teriyaki, chicken teriyaki rolls, miso soup and salmon sashimi. Everything tastes excellent and is made fresh to order rather than sitting in some cooler somewhere. The teriyakis are good but nothing out of the ordinary. They have the freshest and tastiest salmon sashimi I've ever had before - if you're a sashimi lover, you need to try it here. Food is a little pricier than normal but of a higher quality and actually made by japanese people - it's a small family-run business.
Service: It is always very busy here during peak hours and not because of people dining in but the immense number of take-out orders they cater to. Went there on a Friday night and was told my order wouldn't be ready for 30 min but turned out to be around 45-50 min. There was a line-up of people waiting for their take-out orders - at least 5 groups at any given time. As a result of their lack of staff and their dedication to freshness, service was quite slow and the 2 servers (family members I believe) were getting quite flustered and running into one another. Guess that's the price you pay for having great food. Will try to avoid peak hours next time and recommend others to do this as well or else call your order in and pick up when they say you should.
Ambiance: Nothing special - just a few tables and booths and quite small. I wouldn't dine in if I had the choice but it's clean nonetheless.
Will definitely return but as mentioned above, I will definitely order ahead of time and come a few minutes later than what they tell me.
Sushi is some of the best I have had in the lower mainland. Always fresh, always tasty.
The only drawback to this place is the size of it. To dine in you better be ready to listen to some teeny boppers (close to NDSS) going off on their usual tirades on fashion and junk... This is easily overlooked when you try any sashimi that they have on the menu...
I recommend getting take out and arriving a few minutes later than they suggest... All worth it for the best sushi I have found!
This is the only place I ever eat temaki (cone) sushi! They only use sockeye salmon, and the amount of fish to rice is just right. I think they toast the nori as well beforehand its flavourful. Prices are reasonable its $2 per salmon or tuna cone. This restaurant is sort of hidden amongst other stores in North Delta but its worth checking out if you are in the area.
I absolutely love Minori Sushi! Their rolls are big and very worth the price! It's fairly cheap priced for great value. I love their Vegetable Udon and Yam Tempura Rolls. I enjoy taking people to Minori that have never been because its truly a great local place to eat at. It may not look to fantastic outside, but it's definitely worth a try! They just did some very nice renovations in their kitchen area as well.
Excellent sushi – we go often - they know us well and usually have our order ready as we have the same delicious sushi every time. A couple of yam tempura rolls - cali rolls – always extra ginger, no wasabi for my wimpy friends & hot miso soup. On other occasions we have tried the veggie & prawn tempura, dynamite roll & teriyaki chicken lunch box….all excellent. Pre-ordering is recommended, as the kitchen can be busy.
I haved lived in North Delta for most of my life but just reciently moved within walking distance of Minori. I had a craving for sushi and enventhough I didn't have a take out menue or phone number, I walked down to the restaurant to place an order. I walked into the place, which looks nicer on the inside than the ouside, and was greeted by a nice lady who promtly gave me a take out menue. I ordered Gomae, Vegitable Tempura, a Philadelphia Roll, a Caniforia Roll, and a Spider Roll. It came to under 30$ and was a good amout of food. Enough for at least 2 meals. I was told my order would be ready in 30 mins which was expected since there were about 5 other take out people waiting. I went across the street and did some shoping and retured after 20 minutes and sat down at the counter and started reading The Province. Before I was finished my first artical my food was handed to me my the friendly smiling lady and I was on my way home. The Veggie Tempura was a generous portion and delicious. The Gomae was also very tasty... But best of all as the Sushi! The California Roll was above average, the Spider Roll was fantastic and the Philadelphia Roll was out of this world! They make thier sushi to the order and you can see the chiefs doing so as you order. I will definately be back! Good jod Minori!
Went to the restaurant because I’d heard good things and wanted to pick up a menu and check out their Sashimi and Sashimi prices among others. Arrived about 40 minutes before closing, the place was vacant and the waitress was sweeping the dining area. I checked out the menu and decided to try the Assorted Sashimi & Miso soup. Initially it seemed the staff wasn't sure if I would have time to Eat In but they allowed me to sit and I enjoyed some Tea and Miso soup, both of average quality. I waited for a bit and of course as other reviews specified the place was frequented by local teens and take out order pickups, I was the only one dining in, the place was small for dine in and not overly comfy but sufficient. The food came; I was VERY impressed by the presentation. The chef had definitely taken time to prepare the plate and it looked fantastic, I couldn't resist taking a picture. The food did taste good too, although the Tuna Sashimi was still 1/4 frozen, nonetheless I enjoyed 5 pieces of Sockeye Salmon, 4 pieces of Tuna (large), 3 pieces of Red Snapper, 3 pieces of Fatty Tuna, 3 pieces of Octopus, 2 large Prawns, some minced Spicy Tuna, some Chopped Scallop Topped With Flying Fish Roe And A Bit Of Mayo, along with Lettuce for Garnish, some Cucumber, Ginger & Wasabi. It was overall enjoyable and the staff although not overly attentive, were pleasurable and helpful when I asked what the Spicy Tuna was. Total cost was just over $23 and with cash tip $25 so not cheap but a worthwhile experience as the food was very nicely presented and seemed fresh. Would consider going back for more...
This neighbourhood needed a little neighbourhood sushi restaurant. From the first day it opened, it always seems busy.
The menu is simple & is the most reasonably priced Japanese food you'll find in North Delta. Minori proves that inexpensive does not mean you have to sacrifice taste.
I've never had anything on the menu that I didn't enjoy. You won't be disappointed.
The sushi here is the best I've had...and I've been all over the lower mainland. My daughters who are only 3 and 41/2 also agree. It's funny because I've taken them to different ones just to get a different experience, and they always say how they don't like it compared to the one by our house. How lucky are we!!! Love, love, love this place. I mean the restaurant itself could use an update, but I'm not complaining when the sushi is soooo good! And the bento box, and gyoza....everything we've tried!
I just moved to the neighbourhood and I am so happy to have this restaurant close to me. We only ordered take out, but we were very happy with the quality of food. I ordered tuna sashmi and I swear it melted in my mouth. My husband ordered the beef teriyaki and he loved it.
When I went to pick up the order, I noticed that the restaurant is quite small, but the food will definitely make up for that!
