Try the original hot glazed doughnuts or hot specialty coffees and chillers.Original doughnut recipe from a French New Orleans chef.
Been here many times (How could I not) These have got to be the best doughnuts in Canada for sure. They are sooooo good. My favourites are the Mocha and the Kreme Glazed Filled.....Yeah, sure their doughnuts are fattening, but they are really really good....I just wouldn't eaten them often. I like the feel of the place to. I think it's got a great ambiance.
Seriously, if you are in the area you HAVE to try a doughnut from here and don't tell me that you don't like them, because I won't believe you
Back in the day when KK donuts were all the craze, they were by far top of the list for best donuts. But that was when it wasn't yet available in BC just yet. I don't know if it's the water here, or something else, but KK donuts here just don't measure up. Yes, they are still tasty, but I find them overly sweet and fake tasting - if that's possible.
Over the past years, my opinion of them keeps going on the decline. They've gotten more expensive and smaller. Even their famous "when-the-light-is-on-come-in-for-a-free-glazed" is gone.
Unfortunately, I cannot say I heart KK donuts any longer.
Incredible hype when Krispy Kreme was coming to the Lower Mainland. Too bad it had to be Delta.
I think it was once open 24hrs but that is no longer the case. Once the crowds and lineups dispersed so did their appeal.
I won't lie I really do like their Original Glazed. I could only eat a couple at one sitting. They always seem to taste fresh even if they're not. It melts in your mouth like no other donut I've had. Sometimes I crave it but it's still just a donut.
The inside is like something out of a TV show or something you'd see in the states. Very retro. It always looks spotless but I guess now because so few people come by there. Service is good (how could it not be) although on our last visit I felt bad for the counterperson standing there waiting for us to pick what we wanted. She was tired, not physically but of her presence in a quiet solitude.
I think many of us had that "to die for" notion when it first appeared in our backyard but most of it was probably founded on the hype. Their downhill descent was only fuelled with lifestyle changes for the mass and health/media sources damning the place and their products for it's high sugar, fat and caloric content. I'm sure it doesn't help either when they're so far outside the city's core.
Honestly though while backing out of my stall and driving away it felt as if their time is coming.
I have to agree with the previous esteemed reviewer that this place is going downhill. I recently went to KK because I was in the area and because I remembered how great it was when I first tried their doughnuts a week after the store opened. The place still looked the same, but the crowds were gone, and I could park right in front. The staff still wore the signature hats, but underneath there was obvious despair. Service was good though since I was the only customer there.
As for the doughnuts, the KK's of memory didn't match up to the expensive little morsel I got. Plus they were WAY too sweet. I had a regular glazed, but didn't finish it.
I won't be back.
Being from Delta I decided to go check this place out a few years back. I have no complaints, the donuts are fresh and always stocked. Unlike other franchises that turn you back and don't make fresh batches by the hour. This place is really cares about its customers.
I just love how they are hot and fresh so heavenly.
First of all, these donuts are absolutely delicious...they are not too sweet for me, and they are better than TimmyHo's cuz they melt in you mouth when its hot/heated up. Also, when the donuts still taste good even after having them lay around the kitchen for a week. Also, TimmyHo's donuts are made in Toronto and they ship them to stores here, where the stores just heat it up, whereas KK is made in store.
Came by here last week, and they are offering 15 cent coffee (X-tra Large size) with the choice of 4 different blends. The coffee was surprisingly pretty good, w/ self serve cream and sugar..which I like.
Its hard to imagine that the original glazed donuts only carry 200 calories!
I know many people enjoy indulging themselves in desserts. People say sweets can take away your stress. I enjoy desserts once in a while too but I've never liked Krispy Kreme because what they sell is way toooo sweet for me and my family.
Of course there are still many people who are loyal to the brand and their fresh products. It is true that their donuts are much better than other packaged ones they sell at superstore / safeway. I can imagine them having a hard time surviving in the future though if they don't change their products, since the new generation's all about eating and living healthily.
Krispy Kreme what happened? Your location used to have the red light turned on almost all the time luring patrons in for a free fresh donut. Now I haven't seen that red light in forever. Tim Horton's seems to be the winner in the doughnut wars. Their location 2 minutes away from this Krispy Kreme is full of people and the drive through has a continuous line-up. I find that the Krispy Kreme doughnuts while tasty when fresh are very airy and too sweet. It's too tempting to eat more than one as you don't really get full from the more airy batter. I also don't like that melt in your mouth donut texture. Whereas when I eat a Tim Horton's doughnut I can tell I've eaten something so it's more satisfying. I think that the Canadian palate is just more adapted to TH. Also TH offers much more choice in food and drinks and donuts are well unhealthy. For those of you who are KK fans you should visit this location. I wonder how much longer this location will last. They need customers. Now if only the American donut chains Top Pot or Voodoo donuts could make it to Canada! Those donut shops rock. I would be fat and happy if those made it to Canada.
Krispy Kreme is by far the best donut place in Vancouver. Their donuts are light, fluffy and delicious. they even freeze well! the place is clean, and well-lit, and great for a family day out. the whole kitchen is visible from the dining area, so you can see how clean it is. I think it's a great place.
Enjoy driving out here for the fresh hot doughnuts and different coffees. They have a drive thru but it is also fun to go inside and see the many different types of donuts. Was nice to get a fresh hot original glazed doughnut when the "hot light" flashed on. Also love their white cream filled original or chocolate iced doughnuts. Got a coffee card for all their different coffees and it was easy to get the card stamped full and get a free specialty coffee. Nice mochas/lattes krispy kreme style.
God these donuts are tastey. When that fresh light is on watch out. Staff is friendly and offers samples to people in line. I think every flavor is delicious. Did not try the coffee but who cares, I am pretty sure there is something addictive in those donuts because i can never get enough. Bathrooms are clean for a donut shop as well.
Krispy Kreme has become my favorite donut place but gosh its really fattening but definitly one of these things where everyone must try at least once, I 'm addicted to these donuts but they certain add a lot of fat! but once in awhile is great!
I don't like the ones that are heavily decorated with sprinkles and nuts but the simple glazed round donus are probably the best ones they have available.
EVERY TIME~ my teeth hurt when I bit into KK's donut. I love donuts, but it is just too hard to stand the sweetness of KK's donut. Since I live so far away from Delta, I don't get to experience it very often, but everytime my friends bring me back a dozen, they just sat in my fridge for over three days til I decide to throw it away. I envy those people who can eat "a couple" at a time. I can only eat half and gotta go brush my teeth. >< And come to think of it, they do tend to get smaller each time. I haven't tried them over a year, do they still suvive?
I can understand how some people find Krispy Kreme's doughnuts too sweet, but I like them. The Tim Horton's less than a block away is definitely busier but it's also because they serve other food, they're cheaper, and their coffee is way better. Yes, I'm sorry to say that I'm not a big fan of KK's coffee. Their doughnuts, however, will always trump Timmy's. The price isn't too crazy either and the calories are actually a lot less than you would think! I'm not sure how they manage it, but if I remember correctly the original glazed are somewhere around 200 cal.
The doughnuts here are good, but you can't eat too many. They give you a free doughnut when you walk in. I remember when it first opened, there were a line-up of cars waiting to get doughnuts. I did not know why as you can only eat a few because there so sweet. Overall the doughnuts are pretty good.
