Great little diner

I was told of this diner at Christmas time last year when they catered to a condo Christmas party. There were rave reviews of the quality and abundance of food.

This diner is hidden away in a quiet mall in Kennedy Heights. I have passed by frequiently but not gone in.

Once I did I was hooked. The cosy feeling of the diner as well as the two owners treat you like you are at home.

Food is freshly cooked and is really delicious. More than you can eat, and at the same time great prices.

I was amused at the former review about the missing 2 strips of bacon. Seems like much ado about nothing. The fact that Ken went to the trouble of delivering more bacon shows how anxious they are to make their customers happy.

Try it I am sure you will love it as much as I do.

It's sort of rare now to find Western diner or home style foods at restaurants. Even if you do, it may be cooked by someone who can't cook, or it's all processed instant food.

Restaurants are choosing to serve fancier dishes but sometimes you want a meal that reminds you of home and that is cooked by a talented chef from scratch.

E's Up is in a very odd location, it's in the strip mall that has the CIBC bank on 88th Ave. They really need to add better signage to their restaurant and bigger boards at their door to advertise that this is indeed a restaurant. Their name is different and not typical of a restaurant and I think that is causing confusion as well.

While it's not much to look at from the outside, once inside the restaurant is spacious and the tables aren't too close together which I like. They also have some china cabinets etc. to add to the homey atmosphere.

They are licensed and wine & beer are reasonably priced at $4.

The best value here are their dinner specials for $10. This comes with a choice of beef / chicken / salmon. When I went in on a Friday, they were having a BBQ special. The salmon was cedar-planked and tasted slightly smokey. The chicken was marinated in a beer-BBQ sauce and was intensly flavourful. Both of these were freshly barbequed upon order.

The meals come with a choice of sides, soup and salad. All of this was solid, the salad had fresh leafy greens & herbs and was visually appealing. The soup was chock full of vegetables. The entree comes with steamed veggies, and either rice, potato or pasta. The pasta and three cheese sauce side was pure comfort food and reminded me of mac & cheese. The garlic bread was delicious.

We were too stuffed to try dessert, but next time.

The owners were very warm and inviting. The portions are generous. I hope other people venture out to try this place, I want it to be around a long time!

Apparently their main business is catering, and they finally opened up their own restaurant. However the hours for this restaurant are odd, so phone ahead to make sure they are open.

And did we mention that we paid $10 (before tax & tip) for a quality, healthy, home-cooked from scratch meal? That in itself is priceless. I hope they don't raise the prices because we would go less, it seems everytime I write a good review, the place goes ahead and raises their prices.

Anyhow I really recommed this place, it is a hidden gem. They also do all day breakfast, and are sometimes open for lunch.

E's Up Dining has been on our list of restaurant eat-outs. My wife & I have become regulars. Tonight, March 12/10, my wife had a green salad, mushroom appetizer and basa fish dinner with rice & veggies cooked to perfection. My meal was a special request. I gave Sheryl two hours notice as the meal was not on the menu. I had the tomatoe spicy sausage soup, mushroom appetizer, pan-fried chicken livers, garlic-sauteed asparagus with rice. This was all prepared and presented with her special touch. A meal that looked good but tasted even better than good. We were so full that we ended up taking home a delicious homemade raisen/blueberry dessert to enjoy later. Another good dining experience, great food, service, atmosphere, great dining value, plus flowers presented by our waitress as we were leaving. Thank you E's Up Dining. Try this hidden gem.

Here is a restaurant that gives you the feeling that you are visiting family.

Gourmet cooking for the same price you would pay at a fast food outlet.

Go in, sit and relax and have a great meal with great people.

Even the other customers get into the friendly spirit of this place. Find new friends while dining.

I went looking for this restaurant after reading the other two reviews.
Went for the Friday night special on way home from work. The outside sandwich board indicated it was steak special night for $10.

This came with a bowl of butternut squash soup. 2 garlic bread/buns.
A steak that was at least 10 oz though it was advertised at 8. I chose bake potato and it came with steamed veges. I was stuffed and couldn't finish the dinner. I was trying to figure out how much profit they were making off this dinner. It was incredible value for $10. Steak and overall food was great.

The interior was cozy and as mentioned very western.

Where does one find a $10 steak dinner in the lowermainland.

two + two = four?

I ordered breakfast this morning, a "Basic Breakfast" and my co worker ordered her own order of some type of sandwich, we ordered it to be picked up.Along with my Basic Brekky comes 4 peices of bacon, so along with that I ordered some ham.She also ordered a side of bacon (let me mention now that she is a very loyal customer who eats there 3-4 days a week).

I went to pick up our breakfast, and because of my order (poached eggs) the eggs were in their own container.

When I got back, I started to eat my breakfast. That is when my co-worker said "hey, where is my bacon?"I was already eating, and she mentioned "how many peices do you have?"I said " well, they are cutt in half, so it looks like about 8 peices, which would equal 4 whole peices"She called E's up, and found out that her bacon was put into my order. We didn't understand. Why would her Bacon be in MY breakfast container? That doesn't make sense! Should they not have written on the container "all orders of bacon"?

I was eating hers and MINE?! That would equal 8 whole peices of bacon! I started questioning myself "Did I eat 4 peices of whole bacon on my way back to the office without realizing it?!"After about 2 phone calls and a few mins of discusing our order, they said they would make us more.

We couldn't go back at this time, so they said they could come drop it off (we work across the way). When her husband came to drop it off, he asked if I had gotten mobbed on the way to my co-worker. (I was hiding in the back because I was so embarresed). He didn't even say "sorry I didn't explain that we scam people into thinking there is 4 peices when there is only 2" or "No problem ladies, see you soon".

WHY DO THEY SAY IT IS 4 PEICES OF BACON, WHEN IT IS ONLY 2 (cutt in half) AND it was placed into my breakfast take out - how am I supposed to know it is my co-workers bacon in there as well? Her 2 halfs of bacon.......

They just lot me as a customer.

Oh, and Merry...uh...whatever..to you too.
