We went many times ther to try South Indian foods.not even a single time the food was good.we had dosa the sambhar was old one and the next day I got stomach upset.hereafter we r not gonna try this restaurant.whoever wishing to eat dosa ,idli, kothu parota and South Indian food don't ever try here.
Order few dishes, asked them for "hot", man I tell you it was really spicy.
Masala Fried Fish served with Salad - Extremely good 9.5/10
Chicken Munchurian - very good 8/10
Goat Biryani - very good 8.5/10 (go with max medium hot)
Onion Rava Dosa & Masala Dosa - good 7.5/10
Fish & Chips - very good 8.5/10 (kids meal, not typical taste)
Nilagiri Chicken Curry - good 6.5/10
Very difference & unique taste due to different spices... not typical Indian food. Must try it. One of the best fried fish I have tried.
Some items should not be so high on price.
We visited this resaurant by very happy chance. On the way to Desi Junction for dinner, happened to see the sign with a similar name. At the door we saw the reference for s. indian cuisine, so accepted the urge to try for something new.
Dosa - delicious crepes with trio of dips (spicy lentil - my fave), we had one with nicely spiced potato mixture.
Madras Curry chicken - complex flavours to this delicious item.
Rice - plain white, but fluffy and cooked to perfection.
Chicken Soup - my daughter enjoyed this simple hot bowl, and was also happy with the addition of indian spices that were so tasty.
Hooked - A must return to continue sampling other dishes from this big menu. Ambiance was great with beautiful decorations and lovely music.
Food: You get a vegetarian thali (it's a South Indian style of meal involving small services of many dishes, served on an eponymous characteristic stainless-steel plate) for $9 or so before tax, and can add a meat dish to that for less than $4 extra. My vegetarian curry came with a large, crispy, fresh paratha, a chapati about a third bigger than at most restaurants, a large serving of rice, and several other dishes: fresh yogurt, mango pickle, a bean-based curry, a cauliflower-based curry, an okra-based curry, sambar (lentil stew) and rasam (tamarind soup - DELICIOUS). The fellow in my party who ordered lamb with his was given a highly substantial portion of fresh lamb curry, which featured large cubes of lamb that I was assured were fork-tender, some with the bone in.
Service: The staff was attentive, pleasant and prompt.
Value: It's significantly cheaper than the dosa place across the street, and service seems better.
Ambiance: Lovely sort of eclectic feeling - Christmas decorations and a Buddha on the counters, scenes from the Ramayana on the wall, and bollywood music playing softly. The cups and water-pitcher at each table are matched, high-quality stainless steel like what you would get in India itself, and add a very nice touch to things.
I visited this place with my husband and my son last night. There was no one to greet us at the first place. Then a guy came, no Hi no hello, just walked us to our seats and gave us menu book. We ordered our dosas and the food came after 15 min of wait. One of the dosas was "cold" not even warm. It was cold that no one could eat it. I told the server that dosa is so cold and does not seem fresh. The server abrupty and rudely said that they make fresh dosas and it cant be cold. I told him to try it. He took my plate inside and came back without my plate after about 10 min of wait that the chef has refused to make another fresh dosa for me and I have to eat that. I told him i am not going to eat cold food and especially when it has gone inside once. He was so rude and arrogant. I asked him abt what time the manager works here bcz I found that quite insulting when they refused to make dosa. On being asked abt manager he said he doesnt know what time manager works. I told him how I felt abt this episode and he did not even apologize. I left the place hungry and thinking that I will never visit this place again. The service sucks and food was cold. The staff is not respectful to their customers and seems like they dont care about the reputation of their business.
The food here is simply awesome. It is authentic south indian food. I had ordered a goat biriyani, plain dosa, madras kuthu paratha, and beetroot halwa. All of them were really tasty. The sambar and chutney were really authentic unlike other south indian restaurants that boasts them to be authentic. There was no smell of oily coconut in the chutney. I would certainly recommend this one if you are longing for an authentic south indian food.
