Terrific Food / Great place to go after coming back from Point Roberts
By eating good food of Vancouver (128 Reviews)
Submitted Friday, August 19, 2011 - 9:49pm [Dine in]

Yesterday, a friend and I came here after going to Point Roberts. It was my second time coming here. When we came in we were seated immediatly. Our server was polite and friendly. I ordered Fettucini alfredo with chicken and a shirly temple, and my friend ordered the roast lamb dinner and a pepsi. It took awhile for our food to come out, and I wish the waiter would had come by just a little more often, but everything was great itherwise. The fettucini tasted amazing, and my friend told me that the roast lamb was delicious (he said that another restaurant we went to in Vancouver was a little bit better, but only marginally) We both left very happy and definatly will be returning

Could do better

Alfa has been around longer than most restaurants in Tsawwassen which does not say much for a community deprived of any innovative or must-visit establishments. Its menu is Greek/Italian and typical of many suburban diners that try and please as many people as possible. On this visit we shared some calamari to start ($7.95). It took half an hour to arrive and was just passable. Alfa is well known for its pizzas and we shared a large Greek/Veggie pizza (16.95) that was very good. It took 45 minutes to arrive and our waiter was very casual, pleasant but in no hurry even though there were only a few occupied tables on a slow Monday night. Even bringing the bill was a challenge. I think we will stick to take-out in the future, their pizzas are the best around but dining there is a last resort, but better than our Macdonalds, Fish and Chip shop and Chinese wannabe restaurants. If any decent restaurant operators are reading this there is a great market out here in sunny Tsawwassen.

Classic "niche" pizza place

Typically when i get pizza from a restaurant, I will look for something that reminds me of "when i was a kid." Alfa brings me right there. They actually have an "everything pizza" (admittedly, not for everyone) and they "do it right." When I ordered it, I was told, "it will take a bit longer than normal..is that alright." The reason being: the put fresh tomatoes on top and they don't want them to go to mush. BONUS POINTS! The end result was a delicious pizza, like from my childhood. My wife gets a three topping pizza and it's always done perfectly as well.

If you're looking for thing crust pizza, done in a 900F oven for 4 minutes with real mozzarella cheese and a couple pieces of fresh basil on it then this is not your place. (thank you, Lindsay Anderson for the description.) this is an old school, west coast Canadian family place.

We have this as take out as well and it doesn't disappoint... perfect for movies in the park :-)

We drove out to Tsawwassen to pick up some gas from Point Roberts, and stopped by Alfa's for a quick bite. Not only did two of the servers come to greet us at the front, but all the staff was really positive and smiley, a nice change from the BLAH waitresses and waiters we experience at local eateries here in Richmond.

The food was BEYOND amazing. We started out with dolmadres (delicious) and had Roast Lamb dinners. I have visited every Greek restaurant in the lower mainland and I'm telling you, never had it like this!!
I even went back to the kitchen and gave my compliments to the chef, which was a family member. The service was great, and the food scrumptious. Can't wait to visit here again.

PIZZA = 5 Stars Everythings else = 3 or 4 stars

My family, friends and I choose ALFA mostly for their pizza and greek salad, which is some of the best we've ever tasted! Most other appys & entrees are quite tasty but nothing to write home about. Their pizza on the other hand is on my top 10 favorite pizza joints of all time.
The service can be horendous which I think may be due to a combination of arrogance/over confidence (as they assume we will return regardless bcuz the pizza is so good and options are limited in Tsawwassen) and increasing jadedness from workling in the service industry for too many years. The owners do not seem to believe much in providing good 'Customer Service' nor really 'like' their customers, imo - a consistent impression ever time I order delivery/take out OR eat in.
The value is fair...pricier than your average pizza establishment but this pizza is anything BUT average! ;)

Decent Greek, reviewed by a Greek

Been here a couple of times as I used to live in Tsawwassen. Am of Greek lineage, so pickier about Greek food than the regular Joe. Usually have Moussaka when I go to a Greek restaurant, as it is my fav. They make a decent one, but not the best I have had. The calamari is usually pretty good, but on a rare occasion, it comes across bland and oily. The fasolada is NOT like mom's... more like a bean and veg soup, should have dill and other seasonings besides just salt and pepper. My partner was very disappointed as he loves it. I had the avgolemono, basic chicken soup base and orzo, finished off with egg finish, but, NOT very Greek using powdered soup base. Greek salad was ok, and so was the hummus. The souvlaki is ok as is the rice it is served with, nothing to write home about. All in all, it is ok.

We frequent Alpha quite a bit, and always wake up retaining water...lol....Seriously they need to reduce the sodium in their food! All in all Alpha is pretty consistent and it is what it is......I grew up in T town and their food hasn't changed in 20 years...I think the menus are the same as they were in the 80's. They do however have a newer waiter there who is ON THE BALL! He knows what we drink and is already walking over with it before our bums are in the chairs. Niki should give him a raise :) He does keep us coming back. The food is predictable and we havent had a bad experience yet. Its worth a try!
