I'm not sure what the future plans are for the 52nd St Bar & Grill at Tsawwassen Golf Club. The entire site is going to be redeveloped with luxury condos and spiffy new course. But right now it's not a bad place to grab lunch. The food is pretty good and the staff are friendly, if a little overworked at times. The bar/restaurant lacks atmosphere and the decor is a tad tired, but there are a couple of outside areas that catch the sun and can be fun to hang out in. One is right outside the bar and overlooks the 15th tee. It's a 260 yard double waterhole, so players can try to drive both or play safe and lay up. On a sunny day it's great fun to sit there and watch the antics of the golfers. Minor bets are placed among the regulars on whether players will make the shot or enjoy a watery grave. Tsawwassen is a popular "tournament" course because it's relatively short and easy, the downside if you're a good player is that it attracts a lot of twice-a-year golfers so it can be very sloooow out there. The upside is that it can make for some hysterical shotmaking on the 15th when the pressure of playing in front of a raucous audience gets too much. The second outside dining area is between the cafe and the "Koi" pond. At certain times during the day a staffer will feed the beasts and it's quite a sight. The pond boasts some massive specimens and the water literally turns into a roiling, boiling feeding frenzy. I hope redeveloper Mr Toigo and friends bear the positives of the present pub/bar in mind when the new changes are made. Even now it certainly beats some of the pedestrian eateries in Tsawwassen.
