We have been ordering from this place for a few years- since we moved to the tri-cities in 2006. We always get delivery and we are always very happy with it. We each get a meal for one which gives us tastes of a few different dishes. There is plenty of food and it always tastes fresh and delicious. The service is very friendly when we call and when the food is delivered. The menu is extensive - highly recommend!
So why am I bothering to submit a review. It's always good. Great in fact. I have been going to the Keg for over 30 years. I think I've been to every location. I have never had a bad meal.
The food is always good. There are no surprises. This is the best place for steaks. Just popped into Coquitlam for a casual meal with a friend. I had the shrimp cocktail (huge shrimp) and he had the escargot. You have to have the escargot! We had the prime rib (12oz) and the Sirloin Neptune. Fantastic food. Fantastic service.
No surprises. You can always count on the Keg!
Im so sad that the new managment/owners have changed the portions. I used to eat here weekly and im sad to say that I will not return. I miss the friendly female staff that used to work there. They used to make the best little cookies. Ive noticed that the prices have stayed the same. I ordered, what would have been enough for 3 people, and I could've eaten it all to myself. Portions are wayyyyy to small!!
What a sad sad sad day. Goodbye Sushi Mori.
Took my family for dinner and the service was slow and the place was very loud. I could accept that but part way thru dinner my daughter noticed a fruit fly in the chili pepper jar that I just had sprayed over my food. I called the manager to tell him and instead of at least apologizing he basically told us we were lying as we are trying to point out the fly in the jar. He grabbed jar and no response ever. WORST CUSTOMER service ever. Even the poor waitress had to tell me how embarassed they are of the owners. ZERO respect or care for their customers. Will never go again and encourage all others not to go and tell your friends about how poor this place is. This place should NOT be serving food or be in business. Go to Anton's or Anduccis. Much better food and way better service
In order to keep their doors open, pubs and restaurants need to be outstanding, exceptional, and make you feel like you are the best customer they have.
Unfortunately, the foggy dew does not make you feel like that at all.
The employees could care less if you are just passing thru town, or a 3 year regular.
The waitresses dont want to know your name, and really, just drink your beer and get out.
Unless of course, you are a chick and the bartender likes you, or you are a friend or boyfriend
of one of the waitresses, then you are treated like royalty!
I have watched a friend of one waitresses walk in, at the same time as another customer, and the waitresses and bartender are all smiles with the friend and pour him a beer right away.
The other guy sits down, and 10 minutes later he still hasnt even been greeted or order taken or anything.
It just seems like popular high school kids run the place, and unless you are in their what they consider, "cool", group of friends, dont expect good service.
Well, guess what?
That type of attitude doesnt work in these tough, spendthrift times.
And with the tougher drunk driving laws, and people going to pubs less and less, and the good ol HST taxing us even more, I dont see the foggy dew lasting too much longer, unless the owner(s) pull a rabbit out of the hat and create a new, customer is always first, attitude among the "cool and popular" waitresses and bartenders!
I don't see that happening though.
Ahhh really, what do I care.....
If they close I will just go to the John B. up the road.
I was surprised to see the bad reviews of Cora Breakfast and Lunch...
I'm from Quebec and we have so many Cora's!!! I was more than pleased when I realized that this franchise was finally here, in BC!
Try to find a breakfast place that serve this variety of fresh fruits... NONE! The Dutch? No and in the same price range. Ricky's? Hell NO! It's frozen ones!
For those people who said that it was not worth their money, I'd say that you should just go back to ABC or other cheap breakfast place. Cora's price goes between $8 to $14 the plate. My bill is usually around $15 with the coffee included. Is it that high for a good breakfast?!?
I've never had a bad service. Waiters at Cora work together. You have a main waiter, but another will come with your plate and another one to refill your coffee constantly! And, bonus, some of them speak French! It feels a little bit more like home for me. :)
Every time that I go to Cora, I feel good. People are awesomely nice and I'm always coming out of there with a smile in my face.
Oh! Don't forget to grab a piece of fudge after paying your bill! Yummy...
My classic: The Strawberry Satisfaction with English Cream. Delectable!
I'll always go back to Cora, always...
Future location to be opened in South Surrey... Yeah!
I have to say that when I logged on to this website I was surprised to see so many bad reviews for this place. It's one of our favorite restaurants, and we eat out a lot. It's definitely our favorite for greek food. We live in New West and used to live in Richmond. We pass several greek restaurants on the way but we like Kefi the best. We've even brought a lot of our friends here for dinner and have made loyal customers out of them as well. Service is always acceptable, sometimes better than others, but we've never had bad service. I always find the food consistent and well-seasoned. Which confuses me even more... is it bland or is it salty people???
My favorite thing on the menu is the lamb souvlaki. It's very lean meat and a large portion of meat, not like the large portion of rice you get elsewhere. Hubby almost almost always has the roast lamb. He likes it because the top is crisped. When we have room, we get a bougatsa for dessert. The phillo is nice and crispy and the custard filling is HOT. I recommend this place.
We tried this place last weekend. Walking in, upon first impression it looked like a De Dutch Pannekoek house but after a kids birthday party. Huge tacky decals on the walls and a french county color pallete that made you wonder where they got their inspiration - Party Bizarre?
Unfortunately we had high hopes for this place we had heard good things about. (Well...from one person) so our expecations may have been too high. We couldn't get over the amount of staff in the place and it wasn't even full. There was what appeared to be a general manager, a food runner (who was french and ranted about the maple syrup that he brought to the table until we heard him mention each little puck of liquid was 60 cents extra..) 6 line cooks in uniforms, 2 prep cooks, a head chef, a couple hostesses, and 3 servers. (Gotta give them points for keeping the provincial unemployment rate down).
Then we read the menu. At a glance the pictures looked promising but the prices were outragous. Everything on the menu was overpriced by at least $4 for what you are actually getting. And we're not talking about the mountain of fruit they so cleverly place on every plate to make it look so appealing. Frankly, who wants to fill up on a huge fruit bowl when you're main reason for dining out is to expect getting a nice eggs benny? I don't have anything against fruit as a garnish, but to me it looks like Cora's banks on this being what draws the eye away from the main course, creating an illusion of value when all you're getting is powder mixed hallandaise and bland potato wedges. We had two breakfasts, the dry crepes with the over priced sweet cream (again not fresh made but from a package) and the ham eggs benny with two coffees. Our bill came to over $40.
Needless to say - we won't be back.
The hot and spicy jimmy burger is honestly the best burger I've ever had in my life. I've taken numerous of friends there and they also agree its the best. All of the ingredients are super fresh, especially the bun. The breakfasts are also very good. I've been eating at this restuarant for over 20 years and have never had a bad meal. The people are very friendly, they say thank you to ever person when they leave.
Food and ambience is what you'd expect from a local pub. My only issue was the wings. When you order them, they come served with the sauce of your choice on the side. I'm no wings connoisseur, but anytime I've ever ordered wings, they are coated with the sauce when they arrive at your table. I find they taste much better than when you dip them. Something to do with the sauce soaking into the meet and bones I guess.
Anyways, if thats your thing and you like sauce on the side then this is your place.
We have been going to SushiMori in Coquitlam since it opened... since the change in management it has gone downhill. Today was so disappointing; portions were much smaller, salad was lacking in Tobiko and other things and there were no complimentary appetizers like Edamame and Oshinko. Thumbs down.
Spicy salmon sashimi is huge, and the only reason i come here. You get 3 handfuls of salmon for 9 bucks. Its not the best but its pretty good, and for the amount you receive its great. The rest of the menu is pretty cheap as well and it explains why its often so busy. At least you know the food turns overs often enough since its busy. Be warned that the service is terrible....some of the worst anywhere. Not attentive, dont care about you, probably could use another wait staff. But for cheap sushi and if you are willing to bear the service it might just be worth it.
I dont usually go on these boards to boast about my dining experiences but this time I have too..
Haven't been to the Sammys in Coquitlam for a long time, but with the wife at Ikea shopping I was in the mood for a beer so I heaaded over to Sammys. I ordered the steak bites as an appy (was perfect, not too salty nor well done) and as for my meal I chose the Stuffed Pork Chop . OMG it was amazing and the sauce was too die for. I didnt think Sammys made this kind of food. I looked over their menu after dinner and was amazed by the different items. Way to go Sammys your menu rocks, you got me I ll be back for your KUNG PAO..
There is nothing really memorable about this establishment, smallish and pricier portions. The broth isn't bad. The only thing I remember is the horrible ventilation system, it is always humid in there and sometimes the floor is wet. I also find the service to be indifferent. Bring a towel because you will get sweaty and sticky. The humidity in there must be close to 100%. Maybe they are trying to recreate what it feels like in Southeast Asia, Vietnam.
Had dinner here occasionally over the last year or so, due to it being in the area when I was craving some pho. I almost always have the same thing here, #7, pho with rare beef and tripe. The soup base seems to be hit and miss, but more often a miss lately. It doesn't have as much of a beefy taste as is more sweet/salty with MSG taste. It still is the only pho place in the area, so it doesn't have much competition, but I think the quality has sunk to a level where I would eat somewhere else. Also their quality control lately seems a bit low, the pieces of meat that come with it seem to not always be what I ordered, I often get large chunks of tendon or no tripe.
I often also order spring rolls, or their shrimp or pork salad rolls, which are pretty average. Their sandwiches are decent as well.
The service is very brisk and I find a bit unfriendly. I also often have problems getting water, I'm not talking about refills, but that first cup of cold water. They also seem to dislike bringing the bill to your table, so I have given up and now pay at the cashier.
I would not come here again, unless I was really craving pho and don't have time to go anywhere else.
Finally decided to go to Cora to see what the hype is all about. The ambiance was good. You would have never guessed how roomy and airy the whole place is from outside their front entrance, but beyond the door it just opened up to a whole different place.
We were seated right away. It took a while for our server to come over to us. He has a very heavy accent, so we had trouble understanding him. My water was only refilled once, and that was after I had to ask, and he never brought the extra pack of peanut butter I requested for my toast.
My friend ordered the crepe panini, and I ordered the Cora's Special. First thing I noticed about my breakfast was that the crepe that it came with looked more like a pancake because it was tough and very thick. They should have just said it's served with pancakes, because they would have made a lot more sense. The potato wedges were overdone, been in the oven for too long and so they were hard and tasteless. I was definitely expecting more from Cora's.
Definitely nothing special about the Cora's Special, it was mediocre at best. Very disappointed. And the surprising thing was that they charged me $0.60 per package of maple syrup for my "so-called" crepes. I've definitely had better breakfasts, even at ABC Restaurant. Slightly more expensive than other breakfast joints, but definitely not worth the price!
So we decided to head out to the Sammy J 's in Burnaby for UFC on Saturday nite and was in shock that they were closed. This was our ususal UFC spot. Good food specials and a great atmosphere.. We had a gift card that we wanted to use so we made a trek out to the Coquitlam location. Nice location.. I like the way the lounge is seperated from the restautrant. We ended up sitting in the lounge of course to watch the fights.. So lets go over the night.. Food - was great, you gotta try the twisted tails and their steak bites and as a main course Jays Smoothered Chicken was grrrrrreat. (Juicy and tasty) Service - Olivia was our server and she was good. We never had an empty glass nor ever neglected ( I like that in a server) Atmosphere - full lounge, nice buzz, alot of friendly customers. The whole experience was good. Also noticed the GM from Burnaby was working their and he recognized us .. That was cool he remembered us..Props to you and thanks you for the shots... Our friends have decided this was our new UFC spot ... Reminder to anyone who checks this place out on a UFC, they do get very packed in the lounge...
Went to this place to kill a sushi craving. Ordered a few rolls and some sashimi to go. There was one guy working who couldn't speak enough English to understand what "sashimi" is. Patiently I waited 30 minutes for him to make the food (which shouldn't have taken more than 10). Before ringing in my order he opened the to-go box and proceeded to rifle through my food with his fingers showing me my order. When it came time to pay I handed him my credit card. Stunned and without being able to communicate, he had absolutely no idea what to do with the card or how the machine worked. I then handed him my bank card which he was finally able to swipe...or so I thought. I was half way home and the guy was running up behind me pointing at a receipt. Due to his own inability to use a debit machine, the transaction didn't go through. At this point I would expect most people in the service industry to let the $20.00 slide given the ridiculous wait time and inconvenience but this guy literally tracked me over a block away. So I went back (lunch and dog in tow) and, again, handed the guy my bank card. He was on the phone with someone and the machine was clearly tampered with and not working by this point. After another 5 minutes of standing there waiting to pay my $20.00 bill (for the second time) I left the food on the counter and walked out.
Until the person(s) who run this place can figure out the importance of punctual, friendly service, how to use their payment system and basic English, I would stay far far away. I will never return!
An awkward location, yet on a saturday night it was pretty happening.
Upon entering, we were seated within 5 mins- Albeit our table was small and could barely fit our party of 5's eating plates. We were nonetheless seated promptly.
We ordered pineapple fried rice, prawn curry, pad Thai and seafood curry to share. The plates the dishes arrived on were huge! But the curry dishes have the same sauces and fillers just different meats. The only thing I really liked was the fact that they quick and very attentive.
The taste of the food wasn't bad. However, it's something I could have done at home with store bought sauces. Granted you get what you pay for. This Thai place is practically the only Thai restaurant in like a 5 block radius. I still expected a bit better. For our dishes we paid about $45 not including tip.
Service here is great! But if you're here because you want to try really good thai food. I would choose another place.
This is my alllll time favorite Viet place to go to for Pho!!! Their beef pho is the star but I also love their seafood pho! Light flavorful broths and tender meats. Perfect pho! We always eat here with my significant other's parents! There are always a bunch of other vietnamese people eating there too - that should say something! Broth and noodles are perfect.
Small bowls I can finish fine. Medium bowls when I'm starving. Large bowls are always a mistake for me when my eyes are bigger than my stomach.
Take out is fantastic too! They pack everything neatly and tightly and everything thrown together at home is *almost* just as good as eating it at the restaurant. I love their spring rolls as well!
