Better than the Food Court

Christmas shopping in the zoo today. Coquitlam Centre was Crazy. Huge line ups at the food court outlets and as usual my kid and I wanted different things. SInce he's too young to get his own food, that meant two huge lines.

So, we went to Zellers coffee shop. I have not been there in years. We sat right away and were greeted immediately. Drinks came promply and we ordered. I had the tuna melt and fries and kid had the kid's grilled cheese meal which came with fries and a huge chocolate milk. The kid's meal was good and my tuna sandwich was awesome and had tasty bits of red pepper in it.

When the bill came, the waiteress told us kid's meals were free on Mon Tuesday and Wednesday. Are you kidding me? My sandwich plate was $6.99 so add tax and a generous tip and I was still under ten bucks! I would have paid more at the food court for sure! Plus we were in and out in 25 mintues. Pretty good for a sit down. You can't lose.

I agree with the other poster - the value of Zellers Cafe cannot be denied. It's been a tradition of sorts in my family to try and find a Zellers Cafe once in a while for lunch while we're out shopping. If you're into good old diner fare, it's a must-try, and the milkshakes are really top notch. Don't go, however, if you're looking for something a bit more upscale - this is not a hip nor trendy place. Solid food, cute 50's ambience and efficient service is what you'll get. The Coquitlam Centre location is the best one I've been too, as it's very clean and looks a bit more updated than the Burnaby Brentwood Mall location.

I have been to this restaurant on numerous occasions and have always enjoyed very good food served by friendly waitresses in a nice, clean restaurant environment.

The burgers and fish and chips are especially good.

The milieu is that of a 50s diner.

Prices are relatively low and commensurate with the style of the diner.

You can't go wrong here.
