Yasas Restaurant serves up authentic Greek food and homemade pizza. Delivery available Tuesday - Sunday from 4pm-8pm.
Been wanting to try this place since we moved nearby. It's a very tiny family run joint, but it's cozy. Food is not bad, but not great. Good portions on the roasted lamb and tasty potatoes, but unfortunately the rice was a bit mushy. We also tried the Appetizer Platter for 1 that consisted a collection of their popular dishes in bite size. Appetizer was okay and thought the Greek salad was not bad- freshest one we've had so far. The owners are super friendly and you do feel right at home, but the waitress totally messed up and gave our order to the table that arrived after us, so we ended waiting a bit longer than normal for dinner. Lots of patrons on a Friday night for Greek food, but we've had better elsewhere.
My wife and I have driven by Yasas many times as we live in the area. The old and poorly lit sign outside never gave us the "come hither" impression. Upon reading the few reviews here, we decided to give it a try one evening.
It was a Friday evening around 5:30pm, and the restaurant already had quite a number of customers, as well as some larger tables reserved. We were promptly seated by a very friendly waitress. The place was quite dark (as most Greek places seem to be) but decorated in relatively traditional Greek fashion. The restaurant was quite dated, but didn't feel old or dingy.
My wife ordered her usual Roast Lamb, and I ordered mine, the Calimari. Portions were quite generous, and the food came quite quickly. The Roast Lamb was tasty, and nicely crispy on the outside, but we found it to be a little on the dry side compared to other places we've been. The Calimari was very lightly battered, meaning it didn't have the crispiness I was used to. Taste wise, everything was great except the rice. The rice was bland and tasteless and reminded me of microwave instant rice.
Service is where Yasas shines. You really feel like you're having a meal in a Greek family's house. They come check on guests often, and the chef/owner frequently comes out to chat with guests. We noticed the majority of the customers were regulars, and the chef knew them by name! Quite impressive. Even as new customers we weren't simply ignored for the regulars as many other restaurants often do.
As for value, the prices are quite standard. Around $16.95 for the Roast Lamb, and $14.95 for the Calimari.
Overall we thought Yasas was good, but we've had better. The service is really what I would come back for.
I've been to this restaurant countless of times and every time I am blown away by the authenticity of this greek food.
The lamb is absolutely to die for and the chicken is always moist and tender. I recently tried a couple of their new menu additions, the salmon was cooked to perfection and the caramelized onions were a perfect touch. My kids had their usual pizza and were pleasantly surprised when they realized that the crust had a new added touch to it! Unfortunately the chef couldn't reveal his secret but needless to say this place is our #1 dining spot.
The food is well priced and the staff is sweet and welcoming, it's almost like going visiting your family and friends over a great meal and drinks.
After going out for a walk one time, tired and trying to get out of the rain, my family decided to try this little restaurant tucked in the middle of nowhere. The lamb was ridiculously delicious; it was a little bit crunchy on the outside where the fat had roasted, but still buttery soft on the inside bursting with flavor in every bite, I didn't even need the tsatsiki which I usually rely on at other restaurants. They use this special butter sauce to roast it I'm pretty sure, and I seriously haven't found a better lamb dish anywhere else (the lamb dish at Kalamata on Broadway is comparable).
We also ordered chicken souvlaki and calamari, both of which were yummy and affordable. I was just so blown away by the lamb dish the others weren't as memorable.
