Clean, modern place for Japanese sashimi and sushi rolls
well if you're someone who eats a lot i guess this is the place to go.
But have to say that although the portions are big, the quality sucks. People who would know the difference between good quality and bad quality salmon would know that this place has bad salmon.
The service? wow they look at you but they don't approach you. Someone should have trained them better.
What can you say, there is one only one fundamental reason why people continue to gravitate to Sushi California, it's the portion of sushi that you get. This restaurant is famous for giving customers value for money and I can tell you once you come here, you'll keep coming back for more. The restaurant is very generous with their sashimi and most dishes are under $10, which is a bargain compare to other places. The sushi are comparable to steak-size fishes, so you won't be disappointed.
Now the downside, during busy periods do expect poor service, Sushi California as you'll read in the other reviews is infamous for being understaffed. At peak times there maybe only two waitresses doing everything (literally) which includes hosting, ordering, bussing, cleaning, take-out and cashing. The other downside is the environment, don't expect this place to be some kind of a five star, exotic Japanese restaurant, no this place is quite dirty and at times messy. (Brace yourself when you go to the washroom)
All in all, if you don't mind the service and ambiance, and you're looking for one of the best Sushi value for money in town then this is your place. I highly recommend Sushi California.
If you’re a sushi lover then this is the place to eat – for an inexpensive dining that is. I recommend ordering the combos – specifically the Alaska roll. After trying it out for the first time I fell in love with it right away. The taste can’t get off my head. I can’t wait to eat there again.
My favorite take out spot once or twice a week. Don't expect a fancy place, the decor is old and run down and expect long waits -always busy, so I think the waitresses get overwhelmed and a little disorganized, but they always make an effort to be friendly. Being so busy, the food is fresh. Salmon sashmi only $7.95 for lots! It is Korean, so expect the spicy to be spicy! Dynamite roll are double prawn -a sk for no mayo as they different chefs will put different ratios of mayo, sometimes lot, sometime none. Fresh, cheap and big portions.
