I went on a Tuesday afternoon. I waited with one person ahead of me. I should have figured it out when I saw only one girl working there and she was hovering over the flip chart of how to make drinks. I waited and waited and waited. She did not know how to process a gift card. She made a mistake and then had to figure out how to correct it. She then went off to make some complicated drink - a non fat latte I beieve. After 5 mintues I left and went shopping. I came back a few mintues later.

She was still hovering over the recipe booklet. Oh no - the guy ahead of me when he was finnally served ordered an egg nog latte. I doomed I thought!. She wasn't sure if they had eggnog. She wasn't sure what month it was. I was desperate for coffee. I asked if she could quickly pour me a brewed coffee as I held out a shiny toonie, before she attempted the eggnnog version of mount Everest. She said I had to wait. I waited and steamed more than her latte vesuvius. She wore more than she made. Finally I asked for a tall Pike - that's it. I was Like $1.96. I had to ask for my 4 cents when she just closed the till on my toonie and started to walk away. It was principal then. When I got to my car, I tasted the coffee. It was some nasty dark burnt stuff. I chucked it out and went home to make my own coffee.

Be warned, these Safeway franchises have neither, the staff nor the customer service of regular Starbucks but they charge the same.
