Purdy's beats out most of the competition and was phenomenal at the start but they deviated from their beginnings to become overpriced. I recall buying second chocolates (imperfect ones) in 2lb-5lb shoe box style varieties over a decade ago for a very reasonable good price and like all restaurants and food outlets, they inflated their prices big time. Sure, let's blame the cocoa fields, labour, inflation and others for their prices..they're still at the top but they lost customers with their bloated costs. A simple yard of chocolate has skyrocketed in price and while it is yummy sweets, the prices hurt your wallet. Like Lindt and others, they need to come off cloud 9 and get grounded despite the high quality that is undeniable. Too bad the tourist attraction at the Vancouver head office shut down.....love their pecan clusters and others.
