Vietnamese restaurant specializing in pho. There are several locations in the lower mainland.
This new location near Silvercity is much better than Pinetree and North Road combined. The restaurant is cleaner, larger and roomier. Even the regular pho dishes taste much better here. We've been many times to their other locations, but we like this one the best, not sure why it's so different, perhaps they are playing musical chefs? Hopefully this location will be able to maintain its quality and quantity to keep it solid and good.
Went there for lunch one afternoon. It was a late lunch so it wasn't very busy. I've been to other Pho 99 before and they don't entirely impress me, but I figure I would give this new location a try. The decor on the inside is kind of "funky", don't really know whether I like it or not, but at least it was bright and clean.
I ordered a chicken ball pho, and it came in under 5 minutes. I was quite impressed at the speed, perfect place for a quick lunch. Faster than food court! Nothing special about the pho, soup was flavourful, the noodles was good. Overall, it was a solid pho, although the waitress didn't bring me my bean sprouts until I asked for it.
Would come back for lunch, especially when I just need to grab a quick bite to eat.
Pho puns aside , if you are looking for an excellent very affordable meal that will fill you to the brim for around ten bucks Pho 99 is your answer.
I have eaten here on a few occassions now and have never been disappointed with the exception of an order of their wings, avoid them. Everything else I have tried here has been outstanding. My favorite is the Chicken Vietnamese Style sub sandwhich. For a mere four dollars you get a very decent sized sandwhich loaded with "real" chicken , not the processed stuff, a generous amount of crisp veggies like carrot and cucumber and bunches of cilantro. Again, all this for four dollars, you just can't go wrong.
I have also enjoyed their Vietnamese Bowls with minced pork, chicken and a heaping portion of noodles.
This is sure to fill you up and absolutely delicious for under ten dollars.
The restaurant is not fancy, heck just outside there are people bowling, but it's a huge , bright space with a staff that are there when you need them.
If you are dining on a budget and looking for an excellent meal this is one place you have to visit.
It's a new building and as such far more accommodating than the normal pho joint. Service was quick and pleasant. I had the spicey flank steak pho with a spring roll. Both were pretty good. Kind of the usual. Nothing outstanding. It came with the thick noodles which most may prefer as you would get a real feed. But they are just too heavy for my liking and lacked taste. I'll come again and design my own bowl.
